I know its an event but it seems to be this gigantic island and the events are all timed and gated and whatever and it just seems really really lazy.
It seems like they spent so much time on the island that they forgot about the content it could be just me but I spent about an hour there and then thought this is just dull and left.
I have to agree with ya. Place was pretty to fly around once, but after a little bit I'm left with "now what?"
Little disappointed in the clothing options too. Granny panties, flowers, and what looks like slave garb. The sunglasses look like they came out of an 8th grade computer lab. There were so many nice swimsuits and what not, why not make them available?
I was expecting a lot of activities but all we got is one fly race which can be done once every day for pearl and two other events which involves dancing for 30 moves and relic hunt over and over and over and over.......again!!

I am bored out of my mind on first day!
I agree, really dissapointing Cryptic, considering this was supposed to be some big deal. The map is actually beautiful and work wonders in the foundry, but I doubt that will happen. Other then that, another big grind and for what... a ship thats still obsolete to the JHAS. How about something more inventive then just, a ship...
Admiral Jesu LaRoca glares at the OP over the top of his new shades.
"You relax in your way, and let me and my Gorn friend here relax in ours. This place is perfect."
General Ssharki raises his Risian mai tai.
"Damn straight."
...Oh, baby, you know, I've really got to leave you / Oh, I can hear it callin 'me / I said don't you hear it callin' me the way it used to do?...

I have fun with the hunt, but the dance game has killed brain cells.
I am also disappointed with the lack of clothing. I want to wear what the npcs are wearing. Otherwise, I'm an overdressed Romulan.
It seems rather silly that all this tech went into jet packs, along with the nice artwork, etc. But, no swimwear, because they don't want me to wear it at esd.
Other then that, another big grind and for what... a ship thats still obsolete to the JHAS.
Form what I understand the JHAS is the 'best' escort in a game that has no 'best' ships.
So you thought a 1) free, 2) time-gated, 3) summer event, 4) open to all players, with a 5) 100% chance of getting the ship if you participate for 10 minutes a day for 25/35 days should grant, as a reward, a ship better than best ship?
And, btw, play any other MMO ever, and then complain that 10 min a day for 25 days is a 'big grind'

Put that on top of the normal rep grinds and starbase grinds and it does seem like just another big grind.
Case and point, there is rarely anything in this game left that doesn't require an obsessive amount of grinding. Grinding is good, character progression is good but there is far too little variety is what I'm getting at here.
I would like there to be 50+ STF's all with different races and stories and some Tier V missions that require teamwork and take an entire week to complete. Its just a bit boring is all and it would be nice to have more variety in content.

If you've somehow managed to run out of new and interesting things to do, try foundry missions.
You could play this game 16 hours a day, for the forty months its been out and not gone through half the foundry missions.

You stay away from possible good stuff, possibly better then Cryptic's stuff, because it isn't necessarily made by Cryptic?
The "canon only" fanatics disturb me. I don't want to be a dull clone of Picard, Sisko, or Janeway. I don't want to only fly what they flew. I don't need to be named Jeann-Luuk-Piiikarddd666 in order to feel like I'm playing Star Trek.
I want this to be my own captain with my own ship, something I can look at and think "yep, that's my little corner of Trek" even if (perhaps ESPECIALLY if) it's not something we've seen already.
Same goes with the "I'll only play it if the devs made it" people. That's a sad attitude. Especially when paired with the "not enough content!!!!1" types that chew through new expansions in days.

I agree I haven't played many foundry missions but many are better then most Crytic Missions, although Crytic does have some good one like Afterlife episode.
See the foundry missions can be far more focused and flavourful. You could have one focused on Leathans that cryptic hasn't done and so much more.

As a big fan of the Terran Empire myself, I've done many foundry missions based on that myself.
Fan made stuff often allows one to explore that which official material neglects for the most part, like the Mirror Universe.
Yes, it will always take a bit of imagination to do stuff with things that technically don't exist in the game (like proper Terrans), but that is no issue to me.

Except if we tried to make this map, we'd be sticking trees inside concrete blocks, because the team that makes these amazing sets seems to do zero to give them to Foundry authors.
The art team seems to take pride in that exclusivity.
Doffing - outside the event - can be fun. Not everyones cup of tea but i really like it. I wish they would make a dedicated staffer who would release new sector chains - but ever since Tuffli left - doffing was his baby I think - there has been little movement.
I mean KDF side you can get boatloats of gear/dilithium/EC - from doffing - in fact you can get so much dilithium doffing you can easily use it to cap out each day.
Also when you hit 110k you can go turn that into FM at your starbase - if you are big on doffing you will never have to run another event for FM again - removing that grind.
Currently you can doff for Romulan marks and with the event you can doff for Nukara marks.
There is a new pack with some excellent doffs.
I would love it if more people in the game got into doffing then Cryptic could assign more people to make it even better.
I don't play a game generally to play fan fiction, isn't that what fan fiction sites are for or am I missing the point?
You rolled a Federation Captain, gave him (or her) a (fairly) unique name and took out a series of ships which you also gave (fairly) unique name, to engage in content created by people who are all star trek fans.
Hate to break it to you buddy, but by playing the game, not only are you playing what could be termed "fan fiction" - you're also creating your own.

I was overjoyed about the event but now it's boring ... sorry cryptic.
- I'm nearly alone on the island only 20 player in a instance
- After 6 hours farming i got 2 eggs if i would farm 6 hours nukra marks i would get 800-1000 Marks
- The clothes with 600 Favors each ... sorry i can't farm another 6 hours of my life. I have to farm years for 10 toons.
Sorry i'm out i make 5 races/5 toons a day for the corvette and thats all.

Yeah that is a bit ridiculous - didn't the winter event to start the doff mission you just had to run a race and get 1st , 2nd or 3rd? and if just running the race and not placing you would only have to do it 2 times?

Yup, unless you want to grind Favors endlessly, there's very little to do.
But that can be a good thing. I have enough stuff to do atm, with LoR just out w/o having a month long event competing for my time.

Right now you can't even ask questions in zone with all the "selling favors" spam
Kind of laughing when parents ask what the kids did today on STO - "i spent the day selling favors to guys on the internet!"
Just saying Risa is boring is as lazy as some of you are accusing the devs of being. Grow a brain cell or two (if it's even possible for you) and actually come up with something that would help make it better. Granted at this point it probably wouldn't be added until next years event, but it's still helpful.
The biggest problem is the Risa even it missing that one thing that just makes you want to stay there all day if you could. The winter event has the snowballs and the ice skating...where are the things like that in the summer event.
What about adding water guns and water balloons and then for another event linking the transporter to a wave runner race event. In the Romulan storyline there's the mission where you have to use you're shuttle and fight the Elachi. I probably spent a good 30 mins or more on that map just skimming the water in my scorpion like it was a giant obstacle course and it was fun as hell.
This game really is in dire need of things that are just there to be fun to do, we need to have something to do when all the endless grinding makes us feel like we're at a 9-5 job and not playing a game. Believe me I understand the need for endgame grinds because you can't push new content out every week, but you need to understand the need for balance between grind and just plain fun.

I'm sure Summer 2014 will be an even flashier, more impressive event.
For what it is, for its first appearance, I'm diggin' it.
I am also disappointed with the lack of clothing. I want to wear what the npcs are wearing. Otherwise, I'm an overdressed Romulan.

Maybe they could've invested in that tech too.

So don't do it. Seems simple enough.

Do it anyway.
