Okay I just listened to the PoD cast in another thread and I'll sum up the part that is pertant to this thread, the fact is they've developing a new UI for carriers and thier pets.
It includes something Hav nick named the veteran system, where if you don't simple let your pets die they get more powerful. It sounded like the new UI gave you more control of your pets as well like you could keep on up on thier health and how many stars they had.
Sounds interesting.
Some thoughts, it'd be cool if you could name each of the pets, like if your a Vo'que captain with Qaw'dun's you could give each of the four a name, like you launch the K'tag, then the P'sidoc, then ths U'kznit, and the Gra'stovik for example.
Just a personal idea.
It was used with the Scimatar so it maybe only for that ship, but I doubt it. (Ps fhe Scimatar sounds like love child between the Kumari and the Vo'que with cloaking thrown in.
Anyways hopeful the blog post on the Scimatar will explain the UI and how it will work next week.
This maybe why the Scimatar was delayed and why the blog post had to wait till next week, because its not just a new ship, but a change to how hangars work.
Frankly I couldn't care less about the Scimitar, this carrier UI update and pet functionality sounds interesting, have to wait and see it in action but that wait will be a tough one.
I'd prefer it if they changed the "Veteran" to something like "Ace" as I think it would suit better overall, maybe not so much for frigate pets but I think it would be a better name.
Veteran isn't cryptic's term it was what the host nicknamed it, I believe it comes from stradgy games where your troops gain experience over time and in time become veterens. Variations of that exist in Age of Wonders and Civilization games for example. I don't know what Cryptic will call it.
Also note that this is for Carriers not for ships that seperate into multiple ships like Galaxy Class ships, Cerberus, Ha'pex and so on.
I don't know about Flag Ships like the Odysessy, Bortique, and the Tlliess I may have miss spelled that (Which is the new Romulan Flagship, not the Scimatar, and the NPC one has So'Hot as a crew person they even give her a proper name unlike phaser guy and T'boob.)
They can launch a single ship (I'm guessing about the Romulan Flagship but its a safe bet), only the Odysessy can Seperate so will it use this new system or not I don't know.
How will the more squishy fightercraft feature into it?
What about the Kamikaze fighters and frigates like the S'kul fighters and the Jem'Hadar Attack Ship? Not sure if it makes sense to try and keep a fighter alive (for a veteran status) that is supposed to do Kamikaze missions...
I went on to tribble hoping test this for myself and didn't see it there. I checked on holodeck, but nope.
So I'm wondering if anyone can explain to me whats going on andcwhat does the increasing veteran status do for your pets?
Is it pet type dependant?.
So far it's just something that was briefly talked about in an interview on a podcast. Something they are working on or want to implement sometime in the future. Nothing on tribble or even live, yet.

I'll wait and see...
Kamikaze fighters get a new last minute catapult system. The ejected escape pod will connect to another launched fighter, what again will be lead to it's doom, the pilot escaping the last minute and so on, endlessly. It makes sense that such a pilot will gain experience.
Whatever we deny or embrace, we belong togheter./ Pat Benatar
Yeah the benifits need to be substatial and I'm hoping that the change will make them more like bridge officers during ground combat and how you can slot thier powers onto your quick bar.

I don't see how they can increase in experience
If they make a pet AI revamp with this UI, it could be interesting.

I respawn all of mine the second the CD is up so they start firering, sort of like reloading and hitting the right shield facing too.
