Hello. I noticed since the recent patch that characters on the character select screen are now off-axis and we can no longer turn them.
This was a change that was made on the species-selection of the character creator that I did not enjoy (because I felt like you should be able to rotate a species to see how they look before you select them). Despite voicing my opinion on this matter, I did not see much of a difference.
Now, a similar change has been made to the character select screen, and I do not like it because it does two things that I don't think is ideal:
1. It doesn't exactly help with the whole "movie poster" feel of everyone's posing, in my opinion.
2. Locking off the ability for the user to be able to rotate their character means they may not be able to position their captain for a really cool screenshot.
3. It's just pretty annoying in general that I can no longer do something I use to be able to. I try to do it out of habit, and it refuses to respond. That's something that generates frustration in the player.
I think if the off-axis positioning is REALLY wanted by whoever is changing things on the user-interface, my request would be to return the ability to rotate our Captains on the character select screen, so that I may position the Captain the way I want to look at them.
I'd REALLY like this to be an option on the species selection section of the character creator, but I understand that not everyone shares my opinions about giving the user flexibility in what they're able to "view" of their captains, even though I think most players would prefer it.

Frankly, I have no idea why they want to prevent us from rotating our characters. We can still zoom in and out. My guess is that the character selection screen shares code with Cryptic's other games. One of their games doesn't allow it, and when they merged the code, they decided to forbid it in all games. Otherwise, it makes no sense for them to spend developer time to make this change.
chances are the ability to rotate your character in the character selection screen was never meant to go live in the first place. There were also several different graphical errors on that screen and the removal of being able to rotate the captain might have been a necessary part of the solution. Sometimes different parts of coding interact with other unrelated parts in weird ways. Not saying any of this is the reason why, just possible reasons and it's such a minor thing anyways.

(You can't give us options to customize both front and back of the character and take away the ability to check the latter in the process and allow to see only the first.

Please give us back at least the latter, and possibly the first. They were in order a useful feature and a nice one.

In my opinion, they're taking out functionality to hide obscure bugs or just plain laziness to make something else work. Yes, I am frustrated and I can't think of another way to express this.
Elaborating:
1) No more character rotation in selection screen because it was probably showing unwanted stuff somewhere, or causing something strange elsewhere. This has absolutely NO reason to be purely aesthetic change.
2) No more extended idle poses while aiming a gun so they could make the boffs pose in the selection screen and keep them stationary. This just makes me greatly annoyed. The extended idling poses while aiming a weapon (i.e., pistols, rifles) was one of the cool touches in this game, and it's now gone because they probably didn't want to deal with it in with the boffs the selection screen.
