It has been said that there is no intention of monetizing the Foundry author community.
I believe that, I truly do. There is no intention of doing it.
However, there is a long standing (we have been told its a) bug, that has in fact "monetized" the Foundry Authors.
The races Caitian, Ferasan and Liberated Borg are not normally available to authors in the foundry, however if you have purchased the C-Store Unlock, or (in the case of Lib Borg) the Lifetime Sub, then these races are available to use in creating your missions.
This "bug" is a direct (if unintentional) monetization of the Foundry authors.
It's not a steep or costly one.
I don't care that it cost me some zen to buy two races i'll never use except in Foundry missions.
It's just that it's been a long while since anyone reported this "bug". Before we had a very attentive QA Guy like CrypticFrost taking bug reports.
So here it is again.
Races not available for use in story creation unless purchased from either c-store or lifetime sub are monetizing the Foundry authors. We have been informed it is a bug.
Here's a report of that bug.
I think it could be helpful as long as we all understand that just because something is on the list does not mean there is any ETA whatsoever on a fix (and I'm sure we all understand that). It wouldn't be too different from posting a "known issues" list like they often do in the Tribble patch notes.
It would allow us to identify things we might know about that are not on the list. Could eliminate some duplicate threads and whatnot. Make it a sticky so a person can look at it and see that "Oh, ok, they know about that one." and then if they want they can post in that thread and say "I'm experiencing Bug #47, here's the mission code and what map it's on."
You have a good point there. I can see it working if we're able to police ourselves with that first part you underlined. I am just afraid it will be a case of the old "Dstahl promised me a pony" or whatever. They did kind of state a year back they wanted to give us their cutscene feature and we got excited... and... then forgot. A list turns us unto a bunch of elephants, especially if we go through a mood swing and turn into elephants wearing Guy Fawkes masks. Never forgive, never forget.
But it would be nice to have a reference list. I know this particular bug in the OP is one I routinely check on, and did have CF post about a few months back. But Hippyjon didn't know about that so we got a repost. And then there are the cases of some bugs we go so long dealing with and using work around we forget about the bugs in the first place. That can't be good for helping progression either.
Should we move this discussion to the Discussion section?
I can put in a request for that. Like always, I can't promise anything.
Frankly, the best solution to this problem would be to simply let players dictate whose side NPC groups are on. The Romulan Republic officers are a good example, though they use plasma instead of disruptor weapons, which may sometimes be inappropriate. :P
Infinite possibilities have implications that could not be completely understood if you turned this entire universe into a giant supercomputer.

Thank you for your report.
CF, is there any chance you could post this report somewhere? We might be able to identify missing items.

Sorry, no can do for numerous reasons.
The best thing you folks can do to help is what you've been doing, posting about any new issues you uncover.
I can put in a request for that. Like always, I can't promise anything.
Much appreciated!

Thanks anyway, it's appreciated. Started having flashbacks of getting the space/ground Fed killing accolades on my Fed toon.
