The dumbing down of video games to the point they're too easy to beat is ridiculous. Back in the day before everything could get patched you had to suck it up and keep trying, even if it took you two weeks. I wonder how many of these cry babies has tried beating Contra without the cheat code. More modern example you say? Finish Portal getting all the story achievements.
I do agree, the rest of the missions now seem a bit outdated and not as gripping in content. The work on the Romulans story line was excellent.
Lol also you think this is hard try beating those old nes/genesis/snes platform games. No save points! had to do it all in a day. :P
sot was a bit difficult for like a day but then something happened. I played enough to figure out what I was doing! I learned what a rainbow ship was and which weapons were best I payed better attention to my skills and what ships go with what career etc.
Yeah its really hard to go from rag tag band of survivers close knit fighting for freedom from a cruel regime that wont let them leave, to admiral blah blah says kill 10 cardassians and rescue a rickity ship or go back in time to save people who openly insult romulans to your face and not seem to notice you are one. And whats the deal with a romulan ally being sent as a federation representative lol.
In my opinion they should probably redo some of the fed missions anyway, Drozanna changed so the layout makes no sense losing the effect of wow thats what it looked like the same but different. also after the Undine vulcan ambassador thing theres a lot of what I call lame "Satellite tag" missions where you fly annoyingly long distances to activate beacons and kill like two ships. I can just see it like oh thank you captain for your service to star fleet! now go do some repair man busy work! But I guess thats a topic for another thread :P
the romulan story missions up to the end of wasteland seemed just about right, the story missions post wasteland are just too hard and the first 2 free ships seem just right but the 3rd and 4th free ships are just too slow and fragile.
the ground sections of the missions are ok its just the space sections, there are far too many enemy craft and their weapons are way too powerful, you get one or two hits and your shields are gone a little after you are needing to respawn by that time any damage done to enemy ships has been repaired so your back to square one.
you can make a little headway and take out one enemy ship by using the pirate distress call but as you have a long cooldown for this you should only need to use this once per mission at most and then only as a last resort.
there seems too be a lot of opinion regarding my post some in agreement, some not.
there is a lot of talk of pvp or pve and i cant see what that has to do with my complaint.
what i am talking about here is the story missions, now im all up for a challange and dont expect any mission to be easy peasy i am well used to the game overall as i have been playing for over a year and though there are most likly many better players out there i have played both fed and kdf characters and leveled them both up to 50 and both with tier 5 in rom and omega reps.
i have now and for the forseeable future will always be a free player, i have been very content to play the free ships that are provided along the way and have found each one to be able to cope with the level they were given for.
sure i might make the odd mistake and have to respawn on the odd times but on the hole i have found the ships and equipment you pick up along the way to be suitable for taking on the enemy and i am quite used to taking down 3 or 4 enemy ships without too much trouble, not to say its easy but it is doable sure it might take some time to wear them down one at a time and leave the biggest till last, then in the case of bigger groups of enemy they have maybe 10 or so ships that are scattered over a large area in small groups of 3 small or 1 large ships and you can take out one group and then recover slightly on the way to the next.
likewise the enemys weapons seem to be fairly matched to your level and providing you keep your shields rotated in the direction of the enemy you should just about outlive each group and be able to build up a little on the way to the next group.
now with the later romulan missions a prime example being `last stand` you have way too many enemy all in one small area all fireing at you at almost the same time with weapons that seem to be far far more then anything you can withstand for long and a lot better then the weapons you seem to have and i say i am using the best weapons i have picked up so far.
now i might be better off if i did some of the rep system and get some of the big sets that you can claim but as with my other charactors i would rather do this after i have completed all the storys so i havent done any rep yet and dont see why i should have to.
as far as i can see when you have respawned for the tenth time in 30mins and have yet to take out one of the enemy there has to be something wrong somewhere.
When I think about everything we've been through together,
maybe it's not the destination that matters, maybe it's the journey,
and if that journey takes a little longer,
so we can do something we all believe in,
I can't think of any place I'd rather be or any people I'd rather be with.
