At What Price Should I Sell Rare & Very Rare DOFFs On The Exchange?

I have tried selling these types of DOFFs before only to not sell one. I don't know if my pricing is wrong, because I see the going rate for Very rare DOFFS at 1m or higher.

What doffs in particular are you selling? Do they also have the same triats as the others you compare them to?

Tac DOFFs. 3 of them do but the other 3 have different traits.

Keep in mind that most of the prices you see on the Exchange is the price that is not selling... If you post at half the value of the lowest posted price, you're almost guaranteed that some speculator will take it off your hands for you...

Don't listen to this guy. I sell my doffs by pricing them slightly below the same kind of doff (Rarity and type of effect). Example, last I saw today a Very Rare Energy Weapons Cannon doff was going for 41mil so I might price mine at 40.5mil. Sort by type and rarity and then see how much the lowest priced with exactly the same bonus is priced for and post a bit lower (the 50% advice is horrible). As far as prices go, medical doffs are usually low in price. I've had to sell some as low as 450k. Technicians, M-A specialists (while the Warp Core craze dies down), Projectile (toro time reducing), and Explosive Experts have high prices. There are a couple of more VRs that go for good prices but I'm writing this from my Nexus 4 so no PC close to check.

The exchange is like eBay only in that the seller offers to the community to sell an item they believe its worth. The community will determine if that price is acceptable.

Really, you should see what price others are selling the same item for and shoot for that price range.

Find what the going rate for comparable Doffs on the exchange and go off that, if your not happy with those prices just hold on to them until the prices get to where your happy with them.

Thank you all so much. This is the first time in a long while I've asked for advice, because some in this forum are so nasty when they reply. Thank you all again.

The primary value of a purple DOFF is in its combat ability. For example, Conn Officers come with several different "cooldown reduction" abilities, but only one of them highly desired, and the others will sit and slow rot. Look at other DOFFs with the same ability, price a little less than the others, and wait. If it comes back to you in the mail, lower the price a bit more.

There is a secondary value on purple DOFFs contributing to critical success on assignments, but at that point you need to have perfect traits for it to command the highest price. It is a lot harder to comparison on that, so stick to combat abilities as your primary reference, until you figure out the traits on your own.

Quick Tips On Selling Stuff on the Exchange

    (1) When you try to determine an item's worth, you need to use the exchange's search filters. If you search for a specific item, without setting the search filters, the exchange will not always give you its lowest trending price.

One example would be searching for master keys. Typing the keywords 'master key' into the search box, without setting the filter to 'common', will display the higher priced keys.

    (2) After you have determined an item's lowest asking price, the next step is to do research on how fast it is selling. Click on the search button a few times, so that you can determine if an item is in demand. Spend at least five to ten minutes on hitting the search button.

    (3) Once you have discovered what type of demand an item has, the next step is all about an individual's patience threshold. High demand items will sell fast, so you can risk setting them at a higher price. Lower demand items will sell at a sail's pace, so you do not have allot of room to wiggle. See the following example.

    Master Keys: heavy demand
Lowest Trending Asking Price: 1,450,000 ec

~ If a person wants to sell a master key quickly, the seller will set its asking price slightly below the lowest selling amount.

Current trending: 1,450,000 ec - Your asking price: 1,449,999 ec

~ If a person wants to sell a master key for a substantial amount, knowing they are selling fast, the seller will set its asking price slightly above the lowest selling amount.

Current trending: 1,450,000 ec - Your asking price: 1,460,000 ec

Conclusion, the price of an item is determined by demand, lowest trending price, and the seller's patience.

I usually do well on almost any selling, by setting my search filter to the rarity of item (in this case, doffs), then, setting my price to the nearest 25 below the lowest item currently up for sale. In the case of VERY low priced items, like only 800 or less, I might only drop 1-10 EC below the lowest.
Items don't always sell in the first posting, BUT, I rarely have more than 10% return to me. Those that do, I repeat the procedure in case I was undercut, to find the new low, and repost. With some patience, and a little common sense as to when to change your price undercutting, I think it would work well for most people.
This has worked for just about any item, whether ship/ground items or boffs. Doffs, I just usually look for what's the lowest in that category, then price about 1k or so below that.:D
