black screen at startup

After this last patch, when I start up STO the screen goes black. I can see the "cryptic" logo at start, but after that its all black. I can move my mouse (can't see the cursor), and I can hear the cursor hovering over buttons. So the game isn't locked up, its just black.

Help.

The only way I can get through, is to start in safe mode. And I'd hate to resort to playing the game in safe mode.

    I switch back to Dx9 from Dx11 and now it works.

    Why would Dx11 not work now when its worked before? I'd prefer running Dx11
