Yes, please. The current MACO rifle is a touch un-notable. It'd be fun to have MACO using something like that, especially since it works. Also, those STO players who read The Needs of the Many (the STO novel) will remember, in the interview with Paul Stiles (a MACO from the USS Thunderchild, the interview is the first in the book), on page 21, lines 3-7:
So I guess we have the Borg to thank for the fact that every MACO trooper in our boarding party was carrying energy dampeners and modified TR-116s instead of standard phasers.

So, in STO canon, the TR-116 IS a MACO weapon, and was first used by them against - you guessed it - the Borg.

    +1 to this movement.

or they just make a Tr-116 and dump it into a mission as a reward.... or a new STF set

Technically, the TR-116 exists already, it was a pre-order bonus. We're proposing doing something similar to that the Shattering Harmonicsa set did with the Tholian Crystalline Sword - make a new one with almost the same function, but make it do something special. Plus, the MACO rifle we have now is (to me) good for one thing only: It has a neat sound effect. It's not terribly effective when compared to the other STF weapons, it's not AS canon, and it doesn't look as neat (but then, I'm a fan of the Adapted MACO Pulsewave).

    okay... we make a TR-127/8

    7 can be a sniper
8 can be a full auto

Why does it have to have a different number? Like I said in my first post, MACO uses the TR-*116*. So, make a MACO TR-116, and let the pre-order be the regular TR-116. Like the Shattering Harmonics Tholian Crystalline Sword versus the regular Tholian Crystalline Sword. The one in the Shattering Harmonics set isn't the Tholian Crystalline Blade, it's the Tholian Crystalline Sword with an addition.

Unlike the sto in game date I want a different number dammit!

I definitely wouldn't mind seeing a new ground alt set using a MACO TR-116 as the weapon.
It would even give me a reason to finish my tier 5 Omega reputation.

As for the Shield, why not take it a step further and go with MACO Chromodynamic armor and a MACO Multiphasic personal shield as the other two parts of the set?

Why not make the M.A.C.O. version be one number up from the pre-order version? Surely Starfleet has developed at least prototypes for a new model since Deep Space Nine, especially with the resurgence of the Borg.

For example, perhaps this new version uses explosive bullet shells, on top of the micro-transporter addition made during the 24th century.

A bit of variety for the shield would be nice, but we're not proposing a new set. Just a change to an item.

That's the plan - to be a one-up on the pre-order. The explosive rounds would be nice. A WONDERFUL "Adapt to THIS" move. XD

Well, either that or give it a holographic bayonet for melee attacks, like I was hoping for with the adapted M.A.C.O. rifle. If Cryptic is feeling particularly bold, they could even give it *both* the explosive shells and the bayonet.

The Klingon Empire and Romulans could stand to get their own versions as well, as I'm sure they would at least figure out how to make their own versions.

Considering how ubiquitous the M.A.C.O. Battle Rifle is throughout the game now, I doubt they're going to replace a piece of a major set with another weapon. You have to also remember that lots of people use it, as it's one of the better weapons in the game, it's sort of the same thing as with the Galaxy layout being turned into a D'Deridex layout.

The TR-116 is canon as a weapon the Federation developed but decided not to deploy. However, The Needs Of The Many, the official STO novel, says that M.A.C.O. personnel carried TR-116A's.

You might be more sucessful citing NOTM and requesting the TR-116A be added to Omega Rep as a T5 unlock, I could get behind that. Odds are good they're not going to monkey with an existing equipment set, but Geko was talking about more itemization a while ago, and adding a weapon to a kit and device could a new ground set for M.A.C.O.

Considering that Omega Force gets a second (space) set, this would be a fair solution and would allow for the addition of other items as well.

I've got the original, non-scaling Target TR-116A. I would pay essentially any amount of in-game resources to have a Mk XII version of it.

I'm on board with this as it makes logical sense and the game needs all the variety it can get. No reason not to at this point.

I can back this. I've always wanted my own TR-116, but can't find an AFFORDABLE pre-order.
    latest?cb=20160406061118&path-prefix=en

Dreadnought class. Two times the size, three times the speed. Advanced weaponry. Modified for a minimal crew. Unlike most Federation vessels, it's built solely for combat.

I'm all for ANY way to get the TR-116 into the game on a wider availability whether that's by replacing the MACO Battle Rifle or providing an alternate MACO set (of course with giving the Klingon players something equally cool as well).

What's ranged that Klingons could use as a equivalent that would be uniquely Klingon...

The first thing that came to mind was throwing knives. Huge, nasty looking throwing knives.

The second was essentially a shrapnel firing blunderbuss. With a transporting slug shot as a secondary fire.

Given the way kinetic damage works in-game, I could see them bringing in something similar to whatever rep involves fighting Elachi (Iconian, maybe?). Those enemies have strong ground shields but weak health, so kinetic damage works best on them. Going with the notion that the reputation set involves stuff that works well against that particular foe, the TR-116 or another generation of it would work well.
