With the introduction of the rom faction and such ships as the dderidex and their sing drives, have engis finally regained some form of useability in pvp premades? im currently leveling a sci rom, slowly too since i love the story.

an eng in a d'deridex sounds like the best way to make that ship worse

Eng in a Ha'nom, perhaps - 125+ Weapons/x/x/125 Aux to run a drain build...perhaps. Tet Glider, Leech, MACO shields, running various drain BOFFs and choice of drain weapons. That thing where folks said it didn't work well because of not being able to do the 125+/x/x/125 with any survivability...might be possible.

Can't see anybody spending the time to figure out if it actually would work though...
...I had thought about it, but I can't see adding yet another toon. 10's just too much time investment.

edit: Heck, why not...I'll roll a Rom Eng to fly a Ha'nom (likely MU Ha'nom).

Sorry to say, but no. We don't run engies anymore in our premades, and as far as I'm aware no one runs them in other teams either.

Engies are done as a profession. I hate to say that, primarily because I have 2 Engies.

Engies need a lot more than that glitched MW refresher.

Now will Cryptic sack-up and make the necessary changes?

i have 2 eng as well, to me they were useless befor F2P, its only gotten worse since then. the kdf eng i'll do some marauding doffing to get contribution, and if theres some event i'll use the engies to grind it too. they did well in CE, since healing wins that event, not damage.

I rolled the Alien Eng...but I don't know if I have it in me to level another toon and deal with getting everything on him. As is, I've got too many...meh.

Well, we run an Engineer (me) in our Hobo's premade (mainly cause I'm too lazy to make a sci). We beat a Sad Pandas team yesterday and I'm pretty sure they were not running an Eng. It's not ideal, but it's not completely horrible either. If someone on your team is running a beam overload build the engineer can send them EPS transfer so their power doesn't dip after the overload on an alpha strike. Also, the new trait for resetting the miracle worker makes it that much harder to kill an engineer, and if he's the healer, well you see the dilemma that presents to the other team.

I'm not saying Engineers are on Par with Sci Captains, and I feel they could be balanced out a bit better to make all the careers equally desirable, but they're not completely useless.

To me, the SNB along with all of the team buffs like Sci Fleet, Dampening Field, make it far more desirable in a team setting than whatever the Eng brings.

Yeah, I agree. SNB alone makes the Sci Cpt. indispensable. I am in no way arguing that an eng. is better than a sci. All I'm saying is that it's not as big of a gap as many people make it out to be. With one good new Engineer Captain Ability, the Eng. could stand toe-to-toe with the other professions. It's sad too, cause on my friend list I have all these friends leveling Rommie toons, and not a one of them is an engineer :(

The only purpose left for the engineer is to train Boffs :( or drink Scotch :)

    i disagree.

I found 1 build/situation which is working for my klink engineer, and that is with my fleet corsair.

It is the perfect healer for bops, and because of this, you need to be very tanky yourself. So, in this specific case, miracle walker and high power makes you survive yourself better, since you wont receive anything from the bops. Also your cc is better because your tractorbeams are stronger with your high aux power.

Also, now with the precision trait, you can clear spam even better, and the miracle worker reset gives you even more survability...

But in all other situations.. Engineers are dead.

I deleted poor ol' Geordius Rex at level 10. They never fixed the bug with the Neutral No More mission where if you take a ship before the mission that you can't complete the mission and thus can't continue the storyline to level...

...the Prophets spoke, eh? No Rom Eng for you...denied.
