We will remember how people got angry at every launch date that ever happened and remember it fondly.

I bought STO:CE and somewhere around 2 years of Subscription, and have not paid since then, but happily since STO has gone free to play I have the privilege of playing this game. I know perfectly well I don't deserve to play, but by Cryptics good will they have allowed it. To expect everything to be 100% working for you people who have paid nothing into the game, you people are hypocrites. I am grateful just to login and play, let alone get free expansion packs. I really cannot believe how greedy and low down people are when they pay nothing and still complain. Lifetime people sure, Gold sure, but free to play people really need some perspective.

I bought over 1000$ of Zen items at the C-Store over the last 2 years.

I've paid ALOT to PWE/Cryptic, so by your logic my STO should be working. It's not. Does that mean I get a refund?

Since you're playing for free and seem to be a nice guy, just don't play for a week or so, so us payers can login.

Yes, because they took my money. . .

Because even though how broken/outdated their server architecture is, they will continue to take my money. . .

Everywhere I look, people are screaming about how bad Cryptic is.
    What's my position?
That people should know what they're screaming about!

You can complain all you like, I think you are entitled, as for not playing for a week, just because I am a nice guy, doesn't mean I am stupid. 1 out of thousands of players will not make a difference. However personally I would not be offended if the paid folks got the patch first, and of course they already have priority login.

I started playing about month ago, i had high hopes for this game and planned on spending quite abit but after the first week i stopped. I saw no point in paying2play a game thats constantly down and full of bugs that the company simply does not care about. And now with a 7hour wait just to patch files i still do not see a reason for me to re-start my spending, why would i spend on a broken product? I simply wouldn't.

I do personally feel sorry for those people with subscriptions though because they have lost a few days because of maintenance and down time, and if cryptic had half a brain they could reduce all of this and its been mentioned a few times since ive been on these forums that people would like... Another way to patch there files! I mean what is wrong with downloding a patch from else where at a faster speed then running that as a patcher? Saves time, bandwitdh and complaints from users, but alas we are here in a "Perfect World" with nothing that works for hours.

    Edit:
7hours to download to get logged out...
Im going to bed, i guess i'll "see" this update when i get back from work.

    Awesome job Craptic!!!

I am not a lifer, nor a subscriber. I guess you would call me one of those free players. I have however given cryptic hundreds od dollars for zen over the span of free to play, so you can't really put us all in that "freeloader" boat.

However I have also been a part of many game launches, expansions, DLC, etc, and have seen these kind of server issues many many times before, and not just on STO. I had already planned on not being able to play LoR until at least day 2, possibly 3 because I saw this coming. Nothing against cryptic (in this instance) for launch issues, and anyone who didn't plan on this was kidding themselves.

No, it entitles you to a working door.

He pays to play and he cant play, whats the confusion ?

If someone didnt see this problem coming then they are an idiot, they have multiple games on 1 out dated server.

As soon as they launched the NW open beta the whole system crashed and screwed both games.

    What??

    that made no sense.

By paying $15 monthly I am allowed to login whenever, Except when the server is down due to scheduled maintenance.

None of the shenanigans today was scheduled. . .

So a more apt analogy would be.

You paid to have a guy fix your door, after he is done you find that you cannot use said door because he made a mistake. . .

I love the fact that the OP is having to defend his thread from everyone who has posted here because his opinion of cryptic is flawed. I've spent money on this game over the year or so I've played and I've experienced many crashes, bugs, and "unexpected down times" so if you really think that means I'm not going to sit on my TRIBBLE and not complain about what a poor service I'm receiving, then you my friend are dead wrong. Personally after reading your post I've come to believe you are either attempting to troll, which you would be succeeding at, or you are not stupid, but ignorant of how the world works.

That is a fair approximation, and you seem to be coming at this from a logical angle, this my topic isn't for the people who PAID, its for the people who didn't. I think somewhere around 30-60$ paid entitles you, because that is the average amount of cost in games these days.

Not only have I poured a lot time and money into the company/game with owning damned near everything in the Cstore but I've picked up a rifle and served time defending Crytpic's right to make their game as an expression of art. So F**k yeah I've bloody earned the right!

Should I need to give you examples of the numerous times mmo's and non-mmo's with high populations have had issues over the years at launch? Cryptic isn't the first, or second or hundredth. Even Diablo 3 highest purchase PC game of all time started off with over a week of server problems, and it is backed by billion dollar Blizzard running far more employees than Cryptic has, and Diablo 3 isn't even a MMO. Your expectations are set on an unrealistic level.

    Wow sore much?

I'm a paying customer too. This login issue on the most anticipated expansion for the game is no surprise. So meh, I'll gladly wait as a Paying customer but not stop playing to make you happy.

I'm going to point out the fact that you just counter-acted your own argument. You actually just cemented his point in trying to show him up.
Nice attempt to salvage your argument though. It failed but nice attempt none the less.

In 25 years, I will be 65 and I do not think I will care one way or the other. And I doubt the game will be around. Hopefully, a new age of video games will revolutionize the industry and we look down at these times and remember, "Remember when game companies released to soon and the market was flooded by well meaning but bad launch titles?"

After someone tells me that, I will get the 21 year old girl a drink and she ask me, "What did you say?" My response would be, "Never mind, keep working.... keep working."
