Now that LoR is released, granted some kinks will need to be worked out. Are Cryptic now gonna live up to the promise of PVP getting some real attention?
Forget the petty lock box whining, the P2W bs arguments and all that nonsense.
This is the true question:
Is it the PVP community's turn to get the proper attention as promised by Cryptic?
The measure could be:
A PvP environment in which a true tournament can be run without any "real" complaints and without any community made rules

i really and honestly wish they would make a pre-made and a pug button for joining arena.
i dont mind playing against pre-mades even if im rolling with a pug but i know many people who simply wont pvp because when they have they lost 15-0 because of pre vs pug and it turned them off of pvp because they feel they have no chance.
Is it the PVP communities turn to get the proper attention as promised by Cryptic?
"As promised"? When was the last time they actually promised pvp related things? The S4 repurposed FE pvp map?
On the other hand, one of them did talk about dreams of tournaments with real money prizes. And what's better then to give out real money prizes that people have to pay money for to have a chance?
Cryptic obviously doesn't care for a balanced esports-style approach or they would not have let balance deteriorate as much as they did. But they might be greedy enough to go into full golden bullet mode and then do tournaments with actual prizes to draw players in and essentially make them buy true p2w consumables to have a shot at winning.
(Not just accuracy weed, jevonite and team batteries. Think big. Think boff abilities with limited charges, and obviously weapons with limited charges, too.)
On the other hand the pvp population seems to be too small right now for this to be worth the development time.
"All PVP in the new system will be cross faction queues."
...and it's probably likely that happens.
Think about what Geko has said about maintaining Red vs. Blue. It's not about maintaining KDF vs. Fed...because with FvF and KvK, there are still RvB teams. So it won't matter if it's F-Roms/K-Roms/Fed/KDF vs. F-Roms/K-Roms/Fed/KDF...it will still be RvB.

A very good measurement naz.
TSI seems so grim and sad these days its like nothing in the game is fun anymore
U guys once dominated the queues, it just feels a bit off if you know what i mean most of it just shifted over to complaining and literally blaming every single thing on Cryptic.
It is not a secret that you guys lost alot of good teammates to other games because of, well various reasons. You guys had a solid team and suddenly ppl left for other games and the team broke up.
You guys thrived in a period where there was a very little change in the game. The 'content drought' or whatever its called. It seems like a mix of both massive changes to game play and the loss of good fleet mates turned u guys over to what has become of you now. (Not saying thats positive or negative) but...
I always respected you guys as a PvP fleet and team because you guys were a great team to fight, and i still do.

And Fleet exercise (no pugs)
sure to all of that except voice chat. there would be no point in allowing/disallowing that since third party programs can allow voice chat outside of the game.

No disrespect intended
Change is always welcome in my opinion. Bad changes like giving leech to feds is a good reason for why I get upset. And maybe TSI is conservative, we like the good old times where pvp meant pvp, and not buying every single thing to win with real cash.
But if thats how the game evolves, we evolve with it and still win matches. Its that simple.

I do ocassionally like some PvE content again as well.
STO would lose a bunch of customers, but if they applied the Elachi space AI to the rest of the game...PvE content could be more interesting. Some of the complaints from folks over in the Tribble forums over the Elachi were priceless.
Come one guys... TSI those that are left are simply annoyed and beyond frustrated. Like ALMOST every one that has been here that long.
TSI is a shadow... most of them are simply not here anymore.
Pretty much everyone I played with back then is gone is well... qew gone... rzr gone... grethor gone... critz gone. We can all list a ton of good friends of the top of our head that will not return.
LOR is likely to bring a handful of them back for awhile... and sadly I know how its going to go... I doubt many of them last past a month back.
Are there things I still find fun about the game... sure tons of things. I still have fun playing STO when I play it. Is pvp in general less broken then it was a year ago or 2 years ago or even 6 months ago... when all those friends left ?

has that romulan defender ship ever made an appearance again? i hear it was a pve ship worthy of song.

Look on the swing side, new PvP fleets have emerged. Where there is a ying, there is a yang, right? Old gives way to new and what not. Alpha Zero, Inner Circle, House of Beautiful Orions (love em or hate em, still good PvP fleet), and who can't forget, TRPH.
That thread both made me laugh and make me /facepalm about the future of STO.
The Elachi are a fun NPC. They crossheal, they jump all over the place, they drop shields, they spam boarding parties, they ooze VM, and all sorts of fun things. It's just way too much for Joe Casual PvE to handle...

No doubt I have made a handful of new friends the last little while. Some great players have emerged the last while that have all come on board post f2p.
I am not convinced that Cryptic can continue to attract new pvp players forever though. I do hope they start following through on planned/promised changes to pvp. The type of players we all like to compete with and against have had lots of issues with that end of the game for 3 years now. I know for myself I don't really care enough anymore to honestly get to upset about it. I PvE almost all the time now. I do the occasional PvP when someone asks me to join them, I guess when someone needs a ringer for a match or so. I can still believe that. lol
Whats frustrating about LOR for me... is I know I do have some old friends planning to come back... and I know the stuff that they left over 1-2 years ago is still here in full effect. I don't see it going well.
Enough of the <insert fleet> sucks, most dont care and dgaf.
Before the server went down, there was actually somebody from a fleet camping the KDF spawn that was recruiting in zone chat while doing it...
...can I say they suck?
I mean, admittedly I laughed at the time...even joked about it in zone...nearly wet myself when they asked in zone if I wanted to join (they didn't notice I was one of the two folks they were camping at the spawn...how...I mean...how is that even possible?)...
...there are so many bad fleets out there that you see in the queues or Ker'rat.
1] Make queues cross-faction
2] Allow you to queue for one and only one match at a time (improve efficiency of queues)
3] Have separate queues for 'anything goes' and 'all CStore/lockbox/lobi/P2W stuff disabled' matches.

We can all list a ton of good friends of the top of our head that will not return.
It was probably the saddest moment in the game for me when Pjokk surprisingly returned and the answer to each and every question he asked was something like "it's from a lockbox" / "it's a c-store console" / "you'll get it after a month of reputation grinding" / "yes, shield resist are >50% on average now". He left again soon.
I have never been a truly top notch escort pilot and probably never will be. I'm not good enough to do this oneshot alpha stuff that is required these days (and I'm too lazy to get all the necessary boffs/items to buff my crith/d beyond good and evil).
I liked DPS cruisers (tac and sci) and have always been a big fan of pressure damage setups, but that's dead and there is no indication that it will ever return. Too much of the game is now about the "pistol duel"-style combat and not the tug-of-war that I used to love. The game has too much damage (fairly reliable oneshots by the top escorts pilots even against carrier-strength targets) and too much healing/resist (the death of pressure) at the same time. The skill requirements for good players have gone up (super alpha escorts) and down at the same time (SNBing and attack runs don't require good piloting anymore, only a jump console).
In PVE, you see on average negative resist on the targets because of APB/FOMM/Scan. In PVP we have to deal with >50% average resist. The 40s GravPulse still hasn't been adressed. Warp plasma still doesn't show up correctly. Balancing is now done by people that don't even know how the cooldowns on EPtX work. There really is no hope that this will ever get better.
If one encounters a new setup that one cannot beat, one usually can't say "we'll retrain some boffs and be back in a couple of minutes" anymore. Now it's "we'll have to get several new lockbox ships and items and reputation on some toons, see you in a couple of months". The low gear threshold was one of STO's greatest strengths, "Get to level cap, grab a good shield and otherwise white items, and you are ready for competitive pvp". That's entirely gone now.
Prior to F2P, I probably would have preordered the expansion and taken a few days off to level a new toon. Now I'm not even sure I will start a romulan character at all.
But I guess most of all, I miss Era. If it hadn't been for him, I probably would have quit back in December 2010 after evilhippo and snide had left (because of RL reasons) and SVK collapsed.
STO had so much potential. Cryptic not only failed to improve the pvp game, they actively made it worse. As Kirk said: "I've never trusted Cryptic, and I never will. I can never forgive them for the death of my toy." - but I have a lifetime sub, so I will complain and demand the return of the good old times until they shut down the servers.

Its simply the old and the new generation. Some old gen players can apparently evolve. I haven't been in Season 1-2 so i guess im not so old of a player i guess. But overall the changes from 1 2 and 3 werent so significant under Atari anyway lol.

Your Ramming Speed III deals 52098 (99235) Kinetic Damage(Critical) to Remus.
But question is IF we are being heard at all unless we do something "drastic" as boot camp again
