Since there's no Romulan Shipyards yet, I'm gonna ask this here.
Anyone else planning on flying a D'Deridex when LoR comes out? What are you going to do with the build? I tested a D'D Retro, and I'm having trouble making all it's different Boff powers gel.
Part of it is no doubt because I'm on Tribble and have no real access to the exchange, dilithum store, fleet gear, or fleeties who can train my boffs, but I don't know, something just doesn't feel right about my attempts to build one so far.
I'll have a fleet D'D, no way I could skip flying the Romulan ship I grew up with. I haven't worked out the builds yet, might opt for something similar to what I run on the Galor.

Laugh all you want, but once it's released on holodeck and I have access to the exchange and all I might give another turret/torp build a try with this one.
I made some pretty successful ones on ships with a much higher turn rate, so might see what I can do with this. although when you can get the arc right a dhc/turret/torp fore with turret/torp aft might work out better and increase dps more.
So is this a totally crazy idea or might just work with the turn rate and everything else considered?
Chances are good that if the set bonus for the D'deridex/D'ridthau consoles are applied to base turn rate a lot of D'deridex builds might be using cannons.
I've got a couple of cannons on mine. It still turns slow, but I've been keeping my enemies in my sights more often than not. That said, I've kind of have problems playing some of the later missions which can get VERY combat heavy and involve a lot of enemies at once.
Ideas but I keep running into the paradox of the ship. Its too slow to mount cannons on (its not a battlecruiser, regardless of what title it may have), but if turned into a beam boat it'll have even more energy problems then fed beam boats already do. Might try something with a single A2B, DEM3, EPTW, and Marion, but even then it sounds iffy. Alternately treat it like an Excelsior with DBBs or Singles fore and Turrets aft, try to max out the decloak alpha, but it seems like if you're going to do that then just use a Mogai. Its a puzzle, but will be interesting to try and solve without the Leech crutch.
1 Romulan Eng with Subterfuge
EPTS1, ET2, EPTW3, AtoS3
1 Romulan Sci with Subterfuge
PH1, HE2, TSS3
Doffs to reduce Emergency Power cooldown and boost EP levels, reduce Tac Tam cooldown and Beam/Cannon special attack cooldown.
There's a Tholian reputation bonus you can choose that will either improve your tanking skills or weapon skills based on your Aux power level. I'll be choosing the weapon skill bonus, so maxing out Aux power after weapon power is the most important thing. I'd ay LoR will see the extinction of Aux2Battery builds.

I'm pretty confident it'll be able to use cannons in PVE to a limited degree. Obviously, people serious about turning will have (at minimum) the D'deridex console set, RCS consoles, the Tachyokinetic Converter, AP:O, tractor beam, and an engine-boosting singularity core. You may want to mix them with DBB or maybe the plasma strip from the rep store to save on power.

What would that be?

Sadly, it's out of date.
Yep, but the basic principle is still there.
