Haven't heard anything, but it is far more likely that it will be the Romulan version of the Odyssey, Vesta, Andorian ships, and Bortasqu. So 3 different versions with each version having its own console. Lockbox ships are only for ships that should not be available to a faction and the Scimitar is a Romulan/Reman ship that has been around for years. Although, I suspect it will be heavily nerfed compared to the movie version.
i just heard that the scimatar was going to be a lock box ship? is this true? are we even getting one? has any info been reviled yet?
It's a rumor. I've heard it's going to be a c-store ship. Possibly even a three pack. It's all speculation right now. The scimitar is likely going to be available, for sure. After the launch, obviously. The rest? It's all just speculation on our part. DStahl will have more to say about it. At some point.

this is what i was thinking but i would not put it past them to box it for money
Well scimitar was designed for a specific role, which resulted in the way it looked. with out that thalaron gun the whole design of scimitar is pointless and would look even more pointless turning it into a carrier? maybe keep thalaron weapon give it 1 hangar bay?
Lyndon Brewer: 20% chance to capture enemy ship for 60 seconds on successful use of boarding party.
according to picard the scimitar was a predator, it had many disruptor banks and 2 shield generators along with an advanced battle cloak, the whole thing was a giant thalaron weapon with the maneuverability of something a lot smaller considering its sheer size. i dont think you will be seeing the thalaron weapon because any ally of the federation wont be allowed to use it as its illegal, i wonder what cryptic have to say about that and i doubt the klingons want anything to do with such a weapon either as the old fashioned way has a lot more honor.
it would make a good carrier and the whole thing has 4 disruptor banks only up front and 2 rear turret slots on the back and it will probably be the only carrier to have the battlecloak and the maneuverability is pretty good. probably a tactical inspired carrier layout my guess.
T6 Miranda Hero Ship FTW. Been around since Dec 2010 on STO and bought LTS in Apr 2013 for STO.

Kinda hopin' you're right. Romulan ships seem to lean towards sci skill and powers. So I'm thinking not thalaron, but a BFG of some sort.
I heard it's gonna be purple, and big...the wings are going to be made out of jelly beans, and the weapons it comes with is [Bubblegum {acc}x3] ESD Zone chat never lies.
Thalaron radiation is already in use in STO, with the vent thalaron radiation option I believe? Besides Donatras ship was equipped With Thalaron weapon at the time it was assimilated by the borg, which was AFTER the Hobus Nova and resulting treaty with the Romulans meaning the Federation don't really mind the thalaron nasties floating everywhere forever.

A point to fix: Ships are not letting out Thalaron radiation, they are venting theta radiation.
And I feel that the Scimitar may end up being either a single C-store ship (which would let the Romulan flagship-class be a three-pack), or a lockbox/lobi ship. The lockbox/lobi ship is because CBS may say that, even if it is a 'faction ship' they would only want a limited amount of these flying around (and yes, limited to Romulan faction toons). Which, and while I generally don't agree like this, would make sense because of the nature of the ship.
I remain empathetic to the concerns of my community, but do me a favor and lay off the god damn name calling and petty remarks. It will get you nowhere.
I must admit, respect points to Trendy for laying down the law like that.
Heck make it the vet ship. Instead of the phaser/disruptor lotus, it gets the thalaron pulse replaced with a plasma burst but the same sort of visual. Feds would never allow thalaron weapons anyways, Klingons would probably find indiscriminate planet-killers dishonorable, and it would keep the thing suitably rare. Of course, given how many people WANT it, more money to be made selling it, so logic vs profit.
I think it'll be the default romulan carrier with a pretty standard layout.

If they release Scimitar, it will certainly have 4 or even maybe 5 engineering console slots, it's NOT gonna be science based, it either has commander eng or tac stations and possiply either just one ensign or liutenant sci boff station, kinda like jemmy chippies, if something, it's gonna be like dkora in boff setup, or JH dreadnaughty, with turn rate of 4-7, 5 weapons in front, and 2-3 turrets in back. with enormous hull amount and decent 1.0 shield mod.

Even if it has the thalaron weapon the CD would render it useless anyway...and it wouldn;t be of the Vortex power/damage... Probably knock off a ship power for 5 seconds and reduce crew with some hull damage... Also the charge time to fire would leave it pretty vulnerable. More for PVE than PVP in any respect.
And also there is the fleet scimitar reinforcement so it's BOUND to be available at some point...

The Typhoon and Jupiter class and has been around since launch and yet these ships never made it to the playable draw, i wouldnt be surprised if the scimitar remains out of reach as well. like a sort of heavy flagship that was not designed for gameplay.

Could actually fit it in if a cap were introduced at only 1 Scimitar per PvE and PvP map. I mean it's not like the thalaron blast is hard to escape from, plus their own weapon puts them a hold on them. However it could win the entire game in Pvp (lol) would actually be worth looking into from my perspective.

As they say 'Good point, well presented!' But did the Jupiter and Typhoon bring it;s own uproar? If people couldn;t have their Scimitar fix would there be a revolution? Riots on ESD!!! Pillaging on DS9!!
Hey guys priority one pod cast 125 supplemental capt geko states; c-store, possible 3 variants ( most likely ), will be released but not at launch with LOR, the romulan faction has to be profitable to cryptic first before any stuff will be made for them. Hope this helps ;D
I like the look of the Scimitar but I personally do not want it to come with the Thaleron weapon that should remain on npc ships only. Maneuverability wise it will probably be as manerverable as the Galaxy:rolleyes:
I will be seriously miffed in the Scimitar appears as a cross-faction lockbox ship. It belongs to the Romulan faction, who are already pressed for ships at Tier 5.
Scimitar is a yes, its already been stated by Devs in numerous podcasts, it won't be at launch and it won't be a lock box ship as they won't reveal ships that are coming as lock boxes which has also been stated numerous times by Devs. Wells class was flat out denied as coming to STO by Devs until it showed up in the temporal lock box and since they already stated that Scimitar is a yes, it'll probably be a C-store ship.
Other than the fact there's no way on Earth a Scimitar-class is going to have a turn rate over 5, considering the TRIBBLE turn rate of the yet smaller and more agile D'Deridex and Ha'apax?
And the fact its specialty console is probably going to be a thalaron weapon that'll likely have a 45-degree firing arc and short range, meaning "good luck aiming it"?
Somebody getting uppity about canon? No problem! Just take a deep breath, and repeat after me:

While both of those are definitely educated guesses and things I would say are probable, they're still technically guesses. Nothing official's been released yet.

Considering the Scimitar is one big weapon I don't know if it would have room to deploy a frigate like the Bort and Oddy do.
Honestly before the LoR beta came out I figured the Ha'apax would be the Romulan Bort/Oddy since it had that frigate on its underbelly.
Highly unlikely. Why would they restrict Romulan ships to Romulan characters and then make a Romulan lockbox ship available for everyone?
My guess is that the Scimitar will be a three-ship bundle available on z-store for Romulan characters a few weeks after launch of LoR.
And also there is the fleet scimitar reinforcement so it's BOUND to be available at some point...

I don tknwo how I feel about a reman ship being the "romulan" flagship
