The sucking capabilities of the evul Klinguns (thanks to their gorgeous Orion chicks!) are well damn known to we poor Feds, but with a smart switching power levels, a battery or better a double battery to compensate for the loss of one or two subsystems energy and a fast tactical retreat, it's possible to avoid this vicious trap.
But when all...and I repeat all your four subsystems power drops almost to zero...what can you do? The answer is very simple...nothing!:(
And I've 9 in power insulators and put also a power insulator console!
This is happening to me in the last week at Ker'rat, where the bad guys always try dirty tricks against we good guys, so something was recently changed in order to become umbeatable a suck...ahem...a strong draining build.
Ehi...I'm not complaining at all...only saying a lot of bad words in my mind!:D
Then enlighten me evuls, how can you do that?
In any case you've to know this is very unfair, very bad, very OP, very...evul!

im going to assume its because they have alot more draining items available to them plasmatic leech/aceton assimilators/the fighters and the abilities that we share with them. its stacks up to a heap of drain and sadly all you can do is hope that you atleast kill the fighters before your capped out or your going to be in some serious trouble if you dont get some aid from an engineers eps power transfer

Got killed by a drain build?

    That...

    *puts on sunglasses*

    ...sucks.

But seriously, siphon drones are still extremely annoying. They basically are guaranteed to suck down all four systems to super low levels and seem to ignore any and all resist you have regardless.

Those alone are just stupid. Honestly, anybody with good points in PI can resist the rest of it pretty well. The problem isn't that you can't resist a drain build, it is that the siphons leave you with nearly no power to anything, and then after that, all the other junk sucks off the rest.

Have you been fighting House of Beautiful Orions? They seem to have been going into Ker'rat a lot these past few days.

What is most likely happening is that you are getting singled out and multi-targetted by drains. So it's no one person, it's most likely an entire team or more focused on draining and killing you in one swoop.

Siphons really need to get looked at again.
I remain empathetic to the concerns of my community, but do me a favor and lay off the god damn name calling and petty remarks. It will get you nowhere.
I must admit, respect points to Trendy for laying down the law like that.

... I hope that they will not look at Siphone Drones again, because ... frankly they already suck as they are ... unfortunatly what ever those drone do, there drain has become rather lacking.

I got up against a group using the full spread of drain stuff: Acteon assimilators, plasmonic leach and siphone drones and my energy barley flickered. (shields and weapon power stay above 100 and engine power was around 60, aux was either off line or below 25, thanks to my aux to bat)

For your information I fly a sci bortas with a aux to battery build using fire at will. What I found interesting was that the Aceton Assimilators died after a few blast of my romulan plasma beams (I have the T4 Omega reputation power that grants a chance for kinetic damage with every hit)

Im actually more concerned about the Hold build some ingenius fed will devise using elite pets than the drain builds we klingons use.

Frankly I still think they balance each other in a way, CC versus drain, but holds really hinder those whom rely on movement to survive.

But hey, variety is the spice of life.

HOBO just got T5 shipyard recently so you will see lots of us in Kerrat now with drain build Fleet Voquv's. My drain Fleet Voquv hasn't gone down unless being ganged up on by 4 or 5 people and subnucced so there isn't much you can do about it besides run while you still have engine power. We're taking Kerrat over:D

For me personally any time i PvP i make the unfortunate choice of PuG, so the only reason i get my starboard side handed to me is because the other team usually has better teamwork. The Drain builds are pretty annoying, but if it's not that it's some other build, and if it's not the klingons it's the feds with a better ship or console.

More than likely you are being singled out by more than one person, but at the same time it is possible that there has been a change in numbers some where. I've been reading a little here and there that GW has taken a bit of a hit recently, so it could coincide with the change there. All i can suggest it so try different batteries or tactics like the T5 romulan semi-cloak when you're at 0 power, just something to take you off the radar for a few seconds.

There are some evil hold/movement control builds without the need of tractor pets already out there.

PI does an effective job to cripple drain builds...except against drain pets.

Good thing I'm usually on my KDF when I go into Ker'rat.

Drain are pretty balance now if u are moderately spec in insulators u usually can withstand a drain boat if ur fairly sturdy, doesn't mean u will kill one ,no wpn power= no kill.

Coming from one, How to kill one 1v1 is usually a plasma Dot build. because they don't need wpn power and it just takes time before u eventually die. Only 2 People ever to killed my drain boat 1v1 was webdeath and shift both had plasma boats. Webdeath old plasma boat inspired me to make one my self. One afternoon we met in kerrat and it became a great learning experience into plasma same thing with shift. Plasma Dot are ontop these days. Now this doesn't mean I did not have a lot of stalemates, with shield res what it is now and no fleet kar'fi sometimes u cant kill them even with drain.

Talking about elite pets. I ve fought those Yellowstone, they have great abilities and ai. Fed carrier can lockdown just as good as kdf. + fed have better teamwork in general. when it comes to arena, BoP are liabilities with out proper support and team builds. When it comes to siphon drone they have always had terrible ai. all you had to do was run eng power to 50 and always be ahead of them. Interceptors are the primary choice they don't touch shields or aux power, they do effect wpn and eng are great subsitutes perfectly balanced

Experienced it a few times versus a KDF premade, they seem to have gone Spam way. They were once a very decent premade.

But yeah not complaining, it was hilarious to say the least haha.
God i cant wait for Federation rommy battlecloak, i think ill ditch KDF forever.

hahah you must be joking. Only thing you can do is put on 4x neuts, use the borg set and hope the borg proc keeps kicking in to keep your hull up. And an RSP might help.

Best way to kill em all is to go with the vape way ^^

Well, then we can make a deal! I mean...you KDF hate our holding, we Feds hate your draining...what do you think about an even exchange?:D
You sure you want a KDF with tractor and drain pets on their carrier? That doesn't remotely sound fun at all.

I hate tractor/slow builds on any faction.

It's very fun if they've lost the evul sucking capabilities! It's a matter a fact draining is far more worse than holding...:P
My scenario was saying giving Feds getting drain pets and still keep the tractor pets, while the KDF gets the tractor pets and keep the drain pets.

In any case, my KDF is in House of Beautiful Orions and you'll be pleased to know that I do not use a drain build.

Though, I do use a B'rel torpedo boat with Aceton Assimilators with full spec in Particle Generators. But, that's probably a totally different complaint....

Oh Sal, dude, im sorry u got in a middle of Orions and rest KDFs fight against Asmonauts and rest FEDs in Karrat I think, it was monday. Boy, that was one of the best pvp days in ages. It was like 4 hours of great pvp (which devs couldnt organize in 1k years) with constant action wich ended after long long battle, when KDF finally managed to repel Asmonatus and thier FED allies. I even got my Romulan ale!!!!! ALE ALE ALE!

And yes, Sal, there is no big secret about that drain u experienced. Its nothing new. I just targeted your engines, and occasionally viraled/doffed you. Now, it not just pure hitting buttons, u will have to figure out right moment for that.

U could actually do that by yourself, if u ever get out of that...Andorian..khm khm escort. High target subsystems powers, and support dps ships, are so underrated in this game.

Suuuure...go to Ker'rat and fight against the evul House of Beautiful Orions, then come back again here and tell me how you could survive!

lol I am trying to give u advice how to beat the drain situation.

99% of playing sto is knowledge

You hate drains because kdf focus on drains its not just one fleet its the kdf as a whole.

But it better to learn why?

Fed focus mostly on escort class ships

Kdf in more universal with infuses on drain because u know every kdf is running it.

    You must know your opponent

What do u do when u start to get drain?

    Do u sit there?

    Twiddle your thumbs?

I drink from some Magic kool*aid and Omega that sh@#
flip out at 10km (wipes siphon)
    reengage
    drop pets in aoe
    40 sec
    attack
    Omega
    repeat
Let the best man win, that's all you can do

Play a drain, watch the best play you, learn to beat yourself, get better at sto.

Built my newly run KDF sci around draining and disabling....going to have to copy that build so i can make a new one as a Gorn sci with the new traits revamp for LoR.

yea i was at the doc that day(bet they didnt miss me one bit :D)

heard glorous tales of battle now if only i could get 10 guys online for that match a certain orion suggested ;)

    but back to the point

the specialized drain boats can be handled but it will take teamwork to kill em and thats just what they want the longer they preoccupy your time the more their sneaky bops can get kills in the meanwhile :P
