Senior Producer Steve "SalamiInferno" Ricossa, Jr. reveals details about the Reman playable species in this entry of the Legacy of Romulus News Dev Blog series.
"Critics who say that the optimistic utopia Star Trek depicted is now outmoded forget the cultural context that gave birth to it: Star Trek was not a manifestation of optimism when optimism was easy. Star Trek declared a hope for a future that nobody stuck in the present could believe in. For all our struggles today, we haven’t outgrown the need for stories like Star Trek. We need tales of optimism, of heroes, of courage and goodness now as much as we’ve ever needed them." -Thomas Marrone
If you redesigned the Remans' heads, does that mean Obisek looks different now?
That Reman in the picture looks a lot like the FE boff, so I doubt it.
HOWEVER...
Why do you have two distinctly different Reman head types?
There's Veril (your first engineer, who happens to be a female Reman, and a much more realistic one), and there's... these abominations that are appearing throughout the rest of the game.
Infinite possibilities have implications that could not be completely understood if you turned this entire universe into a giant supercomputer.
That woman doesn't even look remotely like the male reman. It's hard to believe there even the same species. They have literally nothing in common.
Guess it's a good thing I wasn't planning to have any female remans on my crew anyway. Then again, I wasn't planning to have Tovan Stu as my first officer either, so it's possible I'll be forced to use these vampire things anyway.
I doubt many people will be playing Remans. Ground traits are just not as useful as the space traits Romulans come with.
Also you should probably redesign the female Reman so that they look more like Veril in game. At the moment they seem to be from two different species in comparison to each other.

or let people edit Veril so she looks better. If anyone needs a costume change its her. You can smell Veril a light year away

There are differences between costumes and physical appearance. We're talking about the latter. I wouldn't mind changing uniforms on my storyline boffs either.

So what exactly do we have to do to earn the Reman species through the Romulan reputation? Do we only have to get Tier 5 on one character? Or do we have to get to Tier 5 and then start a project to unlock them, and if so, what does this project cost?
And I agree, make the Reman female look more like Veril, at least as an option. The one of hte blog, well, I think she got a bit too much work done, if you know what I mean.
I'm not sure if that's better or worse. On the one hand, there are actually some reman features in those angles. On the other hand, there's still that ridiculously human/voldemort face and it sticks out even more for what reman features there actually are.
It looks like some mutant version of the Newcomers from Alien Nation. Remans are not pretty, definately not human pretty. That was the whole point of the species.
Speaking of which, Remans are supposed to be sensitive to light. Do we get hoods when we go outside? Can we lower our ship lighting? Does Veril get shades on away missions, or are we just condeming the poor girl to blindness along with getting her father missing?
1. I read somewhere we will not be able to adjust or FE Reman Boff with the new style, uniforms etc. Is this still the status quo or will we be able to alter them?
2. So, if you unlock Remans via Reputation you get everything as if you had unlocked them via Store. The blog says you will get two new ship materials. Are these automatically available from the start for any Romulan character I create or do I have to create a Reman in order to unlock the materials account wide? i.e I create a Liberated Romulan, do I have instant access to the Reman ship materials or do I need to have a Reman and then get the material?
3. Can the Remans wear Romulan uniforms and Romulans wear Reman uniforms or is it race restricted?
4. Is there any chance we can get Reman Boffs in addition to Romulan Boffs via Reputation on New Romulus?
In their effort to make Reman females somewhat attractive (because no woman in an MMO game can be ugly, no, that would be ludicrous...) they've made them look nothing like the Male Remans. The eyes are wrong, as well as the nose - look too human - and there's no forehead ridges of any kind. She looks like a bald woman with a bad eyeshadow...
When I saw Veril on Tribble I was quite pleasantly surprised with what Cryptic has done, but now after I've seen the Reman character creator and these screenshots I'm no longer that enthusiastic. But I guess it's part of the business - to make people's characters attractive and not look like a monster. Logic be damned! ... *sigh*
The devblog says there is going to be an appearance change for the male Reman. Maybe they will all look like the female now. After looking at pics of the Reman in the movies the playable female does more closely resemble what we saw on screen.

Character costumes DO NOT unlock with the species, they are exclusive to Remans.
However, the ship skins ARE unlocked simply by gaining access to Remans.

Well I'll be. Guess it slipped past me on the first read.
Agreed. No females except Veril.
And yes, you HAVE to have Veril on your crew.
Yes, I fully agree with this.

The black panda eyes and temples are a makeup option, so you can go plain as well.

Maybe there is hope yet for Cryptic

THIS is how a Reman female should look like...
Completely agreed!
The irony being that Veril in the pic you linked looks prettier that the ones other have posted from the char. creator or the one in the blog.
I hate the playable Reman females. The BOFF "Veril" looks soo much better.
