In the second episode of "On Screen!", Brandon and Whit cover Legacy of Romulus, the Legacy Pack, and an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at Denise Crosby 's recent visit to Cryptic Studios.
I do wish the show was longer. I said last time for something that does not appear very often I think this could really be used to highlight new ships, new lockboxes via teaser screenshots. address community concerns, have a different dev on each time etc.

i think there is a lot more you can do with this.
We'd love to do a longer show, but a production of this length takes about a week in post-production. As our video team supports all Cryptic and PWE games, it's hard to make it any longer as they produce a ton of videos every month. This might possible in the future, but for now, "On Screen!" will typically be around this length once a quarter. I sincerely appreciate the feedback, though.

Would it be correct to surmise, then, that when devs do interviews with well-known fleets and podcasters that's Cryptic/PWE's way of getting the kind of information out that captainrevo1 is suggesting?
Also, will there be more upcoming "Featured Ships" YouTube videos? I always love to see new ships in action in-game.
Great to see Denise being interviewed. Not only is it good to have a Star Trek actor back in STO, it's really good to see that she enjoys the opportunity to not only reprise her role, but also to advance the characters story from the TV show. Also good for us, that we not only get to watch that progression, but also to be a part of it in a game.
Denise Crosby knows what Romulans are about, sto devs don't.

Star Trek declared a hope for a future that nobody stuck in the present could believe in. For all our struggles today, we haven’t outgrown the need for stories like Star Trek. We need tales of optimism, of heroes, of courage and goodness now as much as we’ve ever needed them." -Thomas Marrone
Love those teasers of her doing Sela's voice overs. You can see her really get into character with her expressions changing and staring into the camera.
really looking forward to hearing all the voice overs in game!
i thought they acted well. you know a great use of these on screen vids would be to do a presentation of new lockboxes, right before they are introduced, along with the standard blog. would proboly generate more interest
So, having Brandon be all excited and really passionate about the game when he talks is awesome. That's the cereal man we all expect. He's always super excited about this game !
And that's awesome.
Unfortunately, how real Brandon is with his joy and excitement over the game, serves to highlight how fake Captain Kiki seems with her supposed excitement.
"RAD!" .... seriously ? That's still a term used to describe cool, exciting things? Sounds, unfortunately like a line written by someone whose urban dictionary got lost in the early 90s with the Ninja Turtles.
Sorry Captain Kiki, don't take offense if that's your real way of talking. (Hey I still call people "Dude" all the time and things are "Groovy" in my world often).
That, plus the throwaway line about getting to play her "wink wink nudge nudge" female orion toon, just made her whole presence here seem like nothing more than being eye candy, and acting all fake excited about stuff.
Again, how excited Brandon was, just tended to highlight this.
The interview with Denise Crosby was awesome, and I loved the teases of dialog and such from the recording sessions. Flakes respect and excitement are awesome, and seeing Denise Crosby so excited about things, makes me more excited for the expansion.
Wish this little video thing happened more often. Maybe if we had a chance to get to know Captain Kiki more often than just the quarterly video, and a couple forum posts near to said videos, her excitement wouldn't seem fake.
Fortunately the Flakey One's excitement is infectious.
Can't wait for May 21st now.

Uh, you realize that Borticus was doing a better show, with real enthusiasm, lots of actual IN GAME FOOTAGE, better graphics, with just him and Chris IN THEIR GARAGE! C'MON MAN, the guy is WORKING for you now. Two On Screens now that have been very short and meh. I actually expect to get STOked when I watch On Screen and it provides no more than 10% stokage every time.

That was a nice little interview with Denise Crosby. All the promo talk aside, I think you notice that she still cares about her character and her involvement with "Star Trek". It was a good choice to bring her back and I can't wait to hear her take on STO's Sela - I do remember her voiceovers in "Star Trek: Armada" and they were pretty great... good times!
Not that "Legacy of Romulus" is not already shaping up to be pretty cool, but that video got me hyped more for the expansion than I would've guessed. So, a job well done!

People forget that this is not a fan made podcast, it's a promotional video made by the producers to update the community about the state of the game. The length and frequency is appropriate.
I think Kiki did a good job, Brandon too. It was better than the videos bioware or turbine do for their games.

I love that the video was something like 4/5ths Denise Crosby. For that Bran and the producers get mad props.

Nice to see some official video material devoted to Denise Crosby and her role in STO, but all that early part is so artificial and forced it's just painful. I know thats the whole purpose of such a "show" and you cannot compare it to "normal" podcasts, but I simply see no point as it is. The girl is there to look pretty and pretend to be excited for the game. And you could have done soooo much more with the content, like presenting a full overview of the Legacy Pack, instead of "oh gee I'm so excited and I cannot wait to play it...".
I guess what I'm saying is that artificial marketing is worse than something spontaneous and honest - even something like a podcast interview. I know you've done the latter several times, which is why this "On Screen" just feels wrong for me... But I guess I'm just not the main target for such material.

Hopefully that will disappear with time an experience.
Keep it up!

Fantastic!
That would have tied things up beautifully, and was a natural fit.
Also Tasha Yar is like a Terminator.
That poor Reman
Denise Crosby really grows on you, I like her.

I + 1 that she is damn fine!!!!!!! be a damn sexy romulan :P
system Lord Baal is dead
They know the Romulans are smart enough to recognize the old ways aren't working any more.
Anyway, nice interview.

the devs are the ones writing her lines, and building the missions and stories. from what ive played so far, they nailed it.
Leave him alone, it's still real to him darn it. ;-)
