Is it me or does the KDF play kinda feel lack luster? I'm new to the game and I've been following the Legacy of Romulus stuff and it seems like a lot of work has gone into really making the Romulun faction feel like it's a new experience. However aside from a different set of ships the missions and the play of the KDF doesn't feel like a unique experince to me.
Nope, love my Klingon experience. Who wouldn't like playing space vikings....oh right the higher the thou portion of the Fed player base that makes Twilight fans seem sane. Not saying all Fed players are like that but there does seem to be a large number of them.
Well it is still the same KDF as always but with more comming in May it'll get better.
Though the missions we have are very nice once you get to endgame its all the same grind.
Thats why we need some KDF themed STFs that all can play.
Well I'm not too far into the KDF experience, but what I've played so far just felt kinda the same as the Feds. I love my Orion character I just wanted to make sure that it will be a different play experience than playing the Fed's.
New costumes for sure... When there is a choice of only 3 tops for a female toon, it's rather limiting.. no off-duty and so on.
Its only the PvE content we are getting to complete our low level play. We still need things lile costume packs, KDF kits (like saurian and targ handling) and other monetary shinnies.
My joy comes in the low level content. Im hoping it makes the first timers enjoy playing the KDF so we have less players like the OP asking where the story is?
The reason why the kdf experience doesn't feel unique to you is because an alarming number of kdf missions are just the same missions you played as a Fed with just a few changes. Some of that so called new content coming to the kdf in May will be more rehashed fed missions.
You know faction based music would go along way towards making the factions feel different. As it is right now, most KDF low level missions are cut and paste from Fed missions. Music is the same and the only difference is the ship you fly around it. To make matters worse, the incessant need for smokey haze on every bridge and in the exchange is contributing to poor vision among KDF diehard players.
I think one of the big reasons they have not added much to the c-store is because they see the disparity between the fed population and the kdf population. They will get more bang for the buck putting out more and more fed stuff than they would with kdf stuff. However, even though the numbers are very skewed in the fed's favor, I have seen a lot of kdf players, more than what I think is led on in the forums and such. It's no where near the fed numbers, but there are more kdf than what is being said.
I would love to see more costume packs and ships for us, we really need that kinda stuff. Also, missions and stfs that are designed by the company with a distinct klingon/kdf flair to them, not just copy paste from feds.
I think they realize that they need to flesh out the kdf experience more, and it is my hope that we see more and more kdf styled content coming out, if only in the form of costumes and ships. There aren't a whole lot of ships that were seen that were kdf, I mean you saw a lot of bops and the occaisional battle cruiser. Watching the shows, they all look almost identical, so it's really hard to find already established cannon ships, unless you are delving into works created by authors that are considered cannon.
Maybe Cryptic should survey the kdf population and find out what we really want, then work to implement some of it. For me, the foundry has really helped me in regards to kdf content, but there is only so much of it available, we need Cryptic to step in and really work on some kdf content, whether it's missions, ships, costumes, or stfs.

I will agree to that... Hope this new story path from lvl 1 will bring in new blood into the red side. From there, I can hope for these costumes.
Correct me if I am wrong, but doesn't the KDF have more going for them at end game than the FED faction?
Like what? You're an "Empire Veteran" and you ask this question? Seriously?
The STFs are the same.
The New Romulus stuff is the same.
All KDF-specific storylines are right at the beginning. They cease to exist early in the game and become truly Copy & Paste Federation missions, just with Klingon red plastered on with the terribly misplaced Gorn or Orion who speak like they're Klingons, and not like Gorn or Orion. Breen missions? Dominion missions? Borg missions? They're all terrible hackjobs of Federation ones.
Ship options? LOL, no way. It's not even a contest. The disparity in options with ships is hilariously good for Starfleet. And while we're talking about ships, KDF players can count themselves LUCKY if they even have a single alternate ship model for their starship. How many extra models / skins do you have for your Sovereigns, Galaxies, Defiants, Prometheus, Intrepids, Novas, etc.? Like 3-4 different skins PER ship. The KDF? 1 skin for the Qin. 2 skins for the Negh'Var. 1 skin for the Sommraw. 1 skin for the Kar'Fi. 1 skin for the Corsair. 1 skin for the Marauder. 2 skins for the Vo'Quv. 2 skins for the B'Rel. 1 skin for the Veranus. 1 skin for the Guramba. 1 skin for the Hoh'Sus. 1 skin for the Bortasqu'. 1 skin for the Dacoit.
Should I go on?
Then there's uniforms. Starfleet players have the options to mix and match a wide variety of uniforms from different eras, alongside a rich color palette. Some take advantage of this by making garishly bad uniforms. Some take advantage of this by making uniforms that fit a previous era of Star Trek, or a future uniform that is believable to be used by Starfleet. You can have options from ENT, TOS/TMP, TNG, DS9, VOY eras, and mix and match to your pleasure. Then there's the Mirror Universe variations.
What do the KDF have? Very limited options. You can't even have Off-Duty uniforms. You cant' even change the uniform of the Veteran BOFFs that you can get. They're always stuck wearing that same, horrid sweater on a KDF warship. Even the few race-specific outfits for the Nausicaans and Orion are very limited in options. The devs went through alot of effort in bringing canon uniforms to the Feds. But they didn't even lift a finger to introduce TV / movie used uniforms for the KDF to use, much less making stuff up. Also, most of the uniform options you see the KDF NPCs use are not usable by the players at all. Sashes? Trenchcoats? On and on...
Yes, you are terribly wrong in saying the KDF has more going for them at end game than the Federation.
If you want a unique Klingon PvE gameplay experience, try the foundry missions. A lot of good foundry authors have invested a lot of time into making some hugely entertaining (and challenging) missions that are truly unique.
...Oh, baby, you know, I've really got to leave you / Oh, I can hear it callin 'me / I said don't you hear it callin' me the way it used to do?...

Fly a Bird of Prey with all those universal bridge officers slots and you will have a special experience.
I love flying the B'Rel Bird-of-Prey Retrofit because not only are you flying a actual ship from a Star Trek movie but it is very maneuverable with a lot of versatility in what it can do. It can drop mines and fire torpedoes wile cloaked as well as being able to use your captain/bridge officer powers under cloak.
Use Plasmonic leech (invest into Starship Flow Capacitors) to give a boost to all your power levels so long as your using at least 1 energy weapon. Aceton Assimilator helps destroy heavy plasma torps the Borg use. With that and good weapons and other good equipment I can beat Borg Cubes 1 on 1 with little trouble.
I have used the ship a little in PvP with a Tactical,Engineer and Science Officer and each time I had more kills then deaths and have enjoyed it.
The ship might not be for everyone but it is the ship I have the most fun using.
