So if people haven't noticed, cloaking's STILL BROKEN. This has been a problem since the 2nd update... I'm still waiting for a fix. With the addition coming of Romulan War Birds (who will have their own cloaking system) I hope it gets fixed. With the content coming out of Craptic, and PWE, we'd expect old bugs to be fixed. This game was supposed to turn around and start getting better, not worse.:(

Gecko explained it in that looonnggg UGC podcast from yesterday.
Apparently the code is written to fix the cloaking issue, but someone has to go through every single dialog in the game that involves the cloaking issue to fix it. And I think thats most of them. Meaning its to much work to fix so its "working as intended" Load of TRIBBLE, I know.
However the "good news" is the Romulans won't have that issue because their new dialog prompts already have those changes.
Use some of that extra money they made off the Legacy Pack (which I bought) to hire some interns to do this for them. Even if its not perfect and they miss some, at least it would be a lot less and could easily be fixed on a case by case basis afterward.
Heck, I know a couple of players who spend enough time in game that would do it for free; how about an intern with cryptic contest (contest to be Cryptic's...for a month)? (this last part is a joke)

You have the same issue with the cloaking device for the Romulans on Tribble also atm. Every time i get a hail my Warbird uncloaks.

thank you for the fix mate.
..that is a rly good story....hey i just got 1 more idea....can anyone make mission of it....???XD i think it will be a hit
The thing that I find remarkable about the "Broken As Intended" Boff dialogue breaking cloak (because they TALK REALLY LOUD or something) is the fact that Cryptic can't "chop this problem up" into manageable pieces to get it done over time. Something like:
Fix the BUG in all Event Queue Missions first (a not unmanageable number of corrections)
Fix the BUG in all Daily Missions (because these tend to get repeated A LOT)
Fix the BUG in all Storyline Missions (because people tend to do these and sometimes repeat them)
Fix the BUG in all Missions assigned by Specific NPCs for Specific Things (like the Tutorials)
Last ... fix the BUG in all remaining RANDOMLY GENERATED Missions (the vast majority)
If Cryptic prioritized fixing the problem THAT WAY, they'd be able to whittle down the problem over time into something they can manage, and perhaps within a year (or so) of the decision being made that this is a worthwhile thing to do (ie. schedule it!), it could be substantially (if not completely) resolved.
While this problem may be "Working As Intended" in the sense that the "intent" was originally there to do this, and it is "working" in the sense that it doesn't cause the game to crash (ie. it's not a Fatal Error) ... the Playerbase disputes the notion that this is not a *BUG* and that the "intent" behind it rests on decisively flawed reasoning. When the Players collectively decide that the way something "works" is just flat out "done wrong" like this is, the Developers ought to ... agree with the Players ... and then fight to schedule a way to align the functionality with what the Players expect.
It's more a PvE than PvP problem though, usually after tric-bombing stuff in a mine-B'rel.
Step 1: Kill target (usually a cube for the Borg border defence daily).
Step 2: Habitually collect loot.
Step 3: Get decloaked.
Step 4: Get slapped by the ships that were escorting the ship killed in Step 1 (usually a pair of spheres).

This dialog thing was explained two years agoas well, and then a magical patch or something showed 'cloak fixed'.
My *** cloak fixed, pathetic.
How hard could it be, its not like there are 1000 of missions in this game...
The 'fix' does not seem to cover ANY interaction. So mere informational messages got converted to popup/no_response messages (i.e. 'fixed'), but any interactive dialog box still decloaks you even as a Romulan. I think the confusion over 'working as intended' is because of that.

Why isn't new content (Romulans, Tribble) being designed to avoid this issue then?
I agree. The current fix is stupid, and that's from somebody who doesn't even HAVE a cloaking device on his Klingon. (I do however have the Defiant-R, but I don't quite use the cloak...)
And no, the fact that I'm going to have Romulans soon isn't making me more sensitive to the issue at all...
