With the introduction of Romulans and how their ships all get Battlecloaks I think it's time the BOP line (which got low hull due to the Battlecloak) gets a buff to be able to stay competitive with the new Romulan ships and the current Federation escorts.
Now the difficulty with this is it would be easy just to turn them into another class of Raptors. This is something I wouldn't want to see. They need to be different enough that people will still want to fly Raptors.
I would like to suggest that all BOP's get a hull buff to make them stronger but still have a weaker hull than Raptors, keep their good turn rate and Battlecloaks however with their weapon loadout have a 5 fore and 2 aft configuration. Makes sense with their higher turn rate.
Does anyone want to further develop this concept? I'm the first to admit I am not that good at suggesting ship stats. :P But I think the general idea is sound.

KDF BOP has universals and will have full power to all systems. It also has the best turn rate in the game. Its very flexible really. I'm curious to see the final stats of the Romulan BOP. I'm not particularly thrilled about gimmicky powers being traded for actual power to systems. Romulans will either rock PvP or suck hard at it. I would expect buffs or nerfs to come pretty quickly after LoR is released.
I remain empathetic to the concerns of my community, but do me a favor and lay off the god damn name calling and petty remarks. It will get you nowhere.
I must admit, respect points to Trendy for laying down the law like that.
Right now, I don't see the need for it.
Due to their power levels the Romulan ships handle very different compared to other ships.
Just an example: the T3 Mogai should be a very maneuverable ship based on its turnrate of 14.
But it feels more like a cruiser.
So I just tested it on the same character with a Mk VI Efficient Impulse engine against a Kamaragh (turnrate 10.5) obtained from "Temporal Ambassador" with the same engine.
Mogai:
Balanced Power; Turnrate: 22.2 Speed:20.57
Attack Power; Turnrate: 19.9 Speed:16.53
Kamaragh:
Balanced Power; Turnrate: 17.2 Speed:20.8
Attack Power; Turnrate: 15.6 Speed:16.25
It's not what I would have expected.
I assumed the Mogai would outrun the Kamaragh and outturn it by a much larger margin.
I think the main reason is the available power on a singularity-driven ship.
As a result the T5 Romulan ship that might seem the most threatening (T'liss retro) will most likely not turn out to be a Defiant with an EBC.
It'll be a far less agile ship than her 18 turnrate makes her look at first glance.
Extra hull is worthless...if you are trying to tank in a BoP you are doing it wrong.
Now, give BoP's some extra weapon power and we're talking.

There's nothing wrong with the BoP line, they're good for their purpose, and their purpose is to decloak, attack a weak shield created by a teammate, and recloak without ever presenting a clean target to the enemy. They're a finesse ship, not a sledgehammer, and if you insist on playing one like a sledgehammer, you'll deserve the beating you get.

Did I ever say I used it as a Sledgehammer? I think not! I was just suggesting a few changes like a little more hull (to help when you are cloaking) and a 5/2 weapon layout to make it a little more unique.
Considering I don't use the BOP line much and the majority think it's fine, I guess this thread has served it's purpose.

The power of the BoP lies in the full 4 universal stations it has.
Although I wouldnt mind seeing Rommy bops with this as well ^^
When it hits live, then we can look at adjusting older ships accordingly.
