Last night, I watched Undiscovered Country after quite a number of years.
The funny part that made me think immediately of STO was towards the end. General Chang in his prototype BOP was communicating to the USS Enterprise, taunting Capt.Kirk.
And you know what? His cloaks didn't drop transmitting to an outside entity
"Critics who say that the optimistic utopia Star Trek depicted is now outmoded forget the cultural context that gave birth to it: Star Trek was not a manifestation of optimism when optimism was easy. Star Trek declared a hope for a future that nobody stuck in the present could believe in. For all our struggles today, we haven’t outgrown the need for stories like Star Trek. We need tales of optimism, of heroes, of courage and goodness now as much as we’ve ever needed them." -Thomas Marrone
apparently, it's set that way because there are certain interacts that cryptic wants you uncloaked for, unfortunately, that's most of the interacts in the game.
It was originally classified as a bug then reclassified as a feature. To most it looked as if they looked into it, found out it was going to be too much work and decided to classify it as working an intended rather than doing the work that fixed it.
To be totally honest season 8 should just be bug fixes and sever improvements. Let season 9 be content.

I really don't know why the folks at Cryptic and PWE can't understand that fixing problems and improving EXISTING content is just as important as delivering new content when it comes to sustaining a MMORPG.
I'm excited about the Legacy of Romulus and I'm also hopeful that we'll see a playable Cardassian faction next year, but NONE of the new content matters if every time (or most of the time) the devs ignore problems (big and small) with the existing content.
Hey, PWE folks! If you deliver great new content more players show up ... but as soon as the excitement dies down and players start noticing all the problems they gradually (and continuously) LEAVE THE GAME and take their money with them. I've seen it happen with other MMORPGs and it will happen here if STO doesn't get some dev love to fix bugs and improve existing content where it isn't living up to player expectations.
In the immortal words of Captain Sisko: "It may not be what you believe, but that doesn't make it wrong."
Don't believe the lies in this forum. I am NOT an ARC user. I play STO on Steam or not at all.
I wouldn't mind if they tagged certain interactions to interrupt a cloak. What really is annoying is conversations from your bridge officers that break your cloak, like someone accidentally leaned on the button or something.
With the new Romulan content coming out we're trying to poke the devs into fixing the cloaking issues. We've got a thread down in the tribble forum section for those that would like to chime in and offer constructive criticism along with there support of getting the cloaking issues fixed. It would be in your best interest not to flame said post as it was created by a moderator.
I am overdue for the monthly repost of this the in the Bugs forum. It's yet to see any plausible reasoning from a Dev though.
