STO Gateway Be Careful! (False alarm)

angelus214angelus214 Member Posts: 77 Arc User
I noticed recently on google search results that when searching for STO Gateway that one of the returned results was for a website I didnt recognise. Now luckily google catches that this isnt the site were looking for and warns you

Its actually a website called wizworks when you look further into the search results.

Picture here

I just wanted to make sure everyone was aware and didnt pass off the warning. This could be one of the ways the unscrupulous are attempting to gain our passwords. Also this only goes to emphasise the need to have a different password for STO compared to the STO Gateway password.

Actual links (from Stowiki)

https://authtest.startrekonline.com/ (Tirbble Server, Beta Gateway)

http://gateway.startrekonline.com/ (Holodeck Server, Gateway)

hope this is useful

As I understand it, wizworks site is (or was, I think) owned by Atari, and since Atari used to own Cryptic, there seems to be some residual web shenanigans with the link. It looks strange, but the Gateway team has verified it's nothing malicious. I'll check in with them and see if it can be removed somehow.

    Cheers,
