Storebought Peregrines? Maybe Danubes or Deltas for specific purposes? Its not like there's a lot of pet options Fed-side. But no sense dropping 30 or 60k dil on Advanced pets when you intend to replace ASAP.

I'm too lazy to ever bother getting T5 Romulan on any of my characters, I don't have problems in my Vesta or Armitage without them. I normally just use Advanced Danubes or Advanced peregrines. I don't have problems soloing cubes or guarding 4 probes at once on elite with these with my sci captain in a vesta so they do the job. I will just replace these with Elite danubes and Elite peregrines soon from my starbase rather then bothering with scorpions, they just don't look right being laucnhed from Fed ships and I don't need them.
I am getting a bit sick of the vesta, even with 125 aux, the damage is low, and I get anihilated by anything I hit in Elites. If there is no escort on something, if I touch it, it destroys me, sometimes I can be at full health and full shields and nothing hits me and I just explode.
On a good day, advanced peregrines can cause nearly as much damage as regular peregrines... For a cost of 30K dil per hangar. Stick with your regular peregrines until you can get elite scorpions.
I have Elite Scorps and Advanced Danubes for my Armitage. I like the Scorps in things like ISE where I just chuck them out as fast as possible and they do decent damage - about 10-12% of my output according to ACT.
For PVP (which I do rarely and badly) or CSE/KSE I prefer the Danubes as they hold targets still and so lower their defences. I haven't parsed them but I imagine their DPS is less but their contribution is well worthwhile and, in effect, make my guns better.

have you ever thought that maybe you should not use full aux, and change the aux weapons? compared to a regular escort you lose a dhc for a hangar bay (which is not much of a trade off). and if you know how to shield tank, then you should have no problem tanking in the vesta (especially with a sci)
also, elite scorpions are the best DPS at the moment. your other option is the advanced peregrines, they are good for dps too. or maybe there will be some elite goodies with starbases. I suspect peregrines will get a torpedo ability, either high yield or spread, we shall see

Have folks been able to test against Fleet Peregrine yet? I know few fleets have them unlocked yet, but still.

Derp. nope not unlocked yet, Spectre is about to unlock it, so we still don't know. And even then, it may be realistically out of grasp to be considered anyway.

You're doing something wrong. This is what elite scorpions should look like:
Can someone explain these elite scorpions to me? I havent played STO in about 6 months so I'm a little behind on all the new faction stuff.
I have the scorpions from the old reman missions, but it's a device, not a hangar craft, and has limited charges.
compared to advanced peregrines they have higher level boff skills, also they have one more boff skill (high yield plasma torp, and it makes a great difference), and they use plasma
you are doing something right rather. the best I got from them was 3k DPS.
unless you are using a carrier, which means that you have 4 wings of scorpions out there
Aaaaah, I missed the "Armitage" part of that post.
I was using a Jem Dreadnaught. Two hangars worth of fighters is more than twice as good as one thanks to cooldown from FDO's. I don't really have a good baseline for what kind of damage to expect from a half-carrier worth of superscorps.
Ok, I just started working on romulan rep tonight. I see that at 5000 rep (tier 1), you can unlock blue-quality scorpion fighters... would I be better off using those over my current blue-quality stalker fighters?
Sadly, the only USEFUL Fed pets are Elite Scorpions, Stalkers, Attack Ships and Yellowstones. Which DPS wise scorpions win, and utility wise Yellowstones win.
The shuttles should have gotten self-replicating photon mines, as fitting with the Chaffee theme, but no, they got torpedoes. So, ho-hum, useless.
Since most Feddies want flavor, that leaves 1 thing: THERE WILL BE YELLOWSTONES, EVERYWHERE.
"Last Engage! Magical Girl Origami-san" is in print! Now with three times more rainbows.

the yellowstone class runabout is the fleet grade runabout hanger pet and on top of getting a max level tractor beam it gets eject tetryon warp plasma the console the C store one has so ya not much will be moving fast with these around
I would not be surprised if Romulan characters can buy blue Scorpions for EC from a shipyard vendor and Advanced Scorpions in the dil store, though I expect they'll have to level the rep system for Elites like everyone else.

Advanced Peregrines are your damage option until then, or just use the normal blue ones if you want to save your dilithium.
Very Rare Danubes are quite good.

They're an ultra-rare hangar pet you can get from Tier 5 Romulan reputation. They rain plasma death on their targets.
You're doing something wrong. This is what elite scorpions should look like:
DPS from player weapons:
Disruptor array 555
Cutting beam 567
Disruptor turrets 628
Disruptor dual beam 653
Photon torpedo HY2 949
Photon torpedo 1865
Total: 5217
DPS from Pet weapons:
Dual plasma cannons 406
Plasma turret 646
Plasma torpedo 1066
Plasma torpedo HY1 1767 (+462 burn)
Total: 4347
