Even with an Engineer Officer, it's absolutely devestating, I'm putting out more DPS than any BoP I've ever used.
And even better, in PVP, it's even more devestating!
Got a couple of buds together, we all went out with our Guramba's.
3 in siege mode at all times, 2 not in siege mode (for mobility and firepower/leap frogging). 2 not in siege mode would gather attention/whittle dumb players to the 3 in siege mode, (also decrease their shields) 2 in siege mode would fire their javelin, bye bye Oddessy Cruiser. Then the two who were previously out of siege mode, go into siege mode to replace the previous two.
Then, we backed ourselves up into a corner/firing line (cheveron formation), got into siege mode, all 5 of us, took the 3 escorts and 2 cruisers head on as they charged us, next thing you know, first escort goes KABOOM! then the second and third, with both cruisers crippled, and all of us out of siege mode, we quickly made our way to the rears of the cruisers, and opened up with our rapid fires.
As an attack group, the Guramba is by far the most OP Escort in this game. And God is it fun as heck!!!
And it looks wicked with the Borg Space Set on it. Fastest PVP match I've ever participated in, well over almost 2 years playing this game.
And the only downside I can ever see to the Guramba, is if you don't like Disruptor Weapons, you'll hate the Guramba, using 2 fleet heavy dual cannons (dmg x2 Acc) and a quad dsiruptor with breen transphasic torp, by itself, it maneuvers on par with escorts, and just as deadly as an escort. But the real kicker, is when you have an opportuinity to go into siege mode, you increase your power to weapons by +10 more. In total bringing a +25 power to weapons.
And when targets/timing arises, you have a Javelin beam to do massive damage. which, BTW, stacks with Beam Overload, if you do Beam overload, and wait the additional 15 seconds, when you fire your Javelin, you almost double the damage you deal.
So far the highest I've seen so far with one hit, and being a severe critical, is 53k damage. And it was my bud who's a Tac Officer who pulled it off.
But an awesome thing about it, is that most Fed Escort players don't know to avoid attacking a Guramba head on when in siege mode. Resulting in the Escort to die via high alpha when he's not realizing the tips glowing, and beams going into the deflector dish coming at him.
The amount of rage, and whining and crying that ensues is enough to make you almost cry laughing.
The gauramba was the first zen purchase I made in STO. I got it because my fleet is the arachnos armada and it looks kinda spidery.
I fell in love immediately and it's still my favorite ship. All of the nausican ships are eautiful and aggressive designs, but this one is my favorite in looks and performance is just spectacular.
If you want to see some awesome javelin numbers, get a science officer to debuff the resistance of your target, then have a tactical officer buff damage. I don't have beam overload and thanks to teammate buffs/debuffs I once hit a borg tactical cube in KASE for over 60k damage on a crit. If the javelin does really stack with overload, your friend should be able to beat that for sure.
GDF APA FOMM APO EMPTW1 TACFLEET initiate javelins I've had upwards of 150k shots in pvp and seen upwards of 200k against taccubes
Yes this was pugging and yes siege mode might not be viable I high end PVP but I don't care I play for fun not life
This is an amazing ship and is always the one I end up back in after trying out more exotic builds
This can go toe to toe with any 5 tac console ship and if they ever gave it 5 tac consoles well good bye dominion and federation

That is interesting, I didn't know Beam Overload could boost the damage. I was under the impression that it would cause the cannon to become inoperable until Beam Overload's active clock ran out, similar to on the Galaxy-X.
I shall have to try this. I've gotten around 106000 damage with the Javelin, I'd like to see how high this thing can REALLY go!

Nope, using Beam Overload, just makes the javelin wait 15 seconds before it can be fired, giving you a 15 second window to fire it while beam overload is still active.

when you turn on siege mode, and you click beam overload, beam overload runs for 30 seconds.
15 of those seconds your javelin beam is in cool down.
all it means is you can't go beam overload, then javelin side by side, you just wait 15 seconds and fire javelin, while beam overload is still active.
Stay in siege mode, let it charge up to fire, but hit beam overload, wait 15 seconds for the timer to end, and utilize the remaining 15 seconds of beam overload to take effect when you click the button.
As long as you fire your javelin before the beam overload clock/buff ends, you'll stack beam overload on your javelin.

Ah, that explains it. I forgot that Beam Overload runs for 30 seconds, not 15.
I do apologize, I'm down with a cold, and running on little sleep.

Yes, I was disappointed that we didn't get a Fleet-level Guramba, especially since I think the excuse was they didn't have a unique console or some such thing. I might've actually bought a Fleet Guramba (would be the first fleet ship I've bought, haven't bought any others at this time), because I love flying the regular C-store Guramba. The only ships I like more are the BoPs. Raptors. . .my perception of them is still damaged by my experiences with the free Qin. The Fleet ones are good and non-borked, but I'm used to flying something else :P
My PvP toon is Krov, of The House of Snoo. Beware of my Hegh'ta of doom.
[Combat (Self)] Your Javelin deals 165585 (109088) Disruptor Damage(Critical) to Thanu.
That is one hell of a crit.

Also, unless it was fixed in the past few weeks, the disruptor proc is applying the normal 10% to everything but 20% to disruptor damage. If you manage a javelin while the proc is up...

Ships with built in abilities are now costing 5 Fleet Modules (Excelsior Retrofit and B'rel Retrofit are some prime examples).
I wouldn't be surprised if they release a Guramba in the future at some point.
I believe it does. The Galaxy-X lance cooldown timer is 15 seconds when a Beam power is activated. (Although the issue would be holding your fire for 15 seconds, unless you are cloaked.)
The other issue would be the accuracy of that lance, that alone has scared me off of that ship.

One thing that makes me wonder about this ship is the following. When in siege mode it flips over, fore is aft and aft is fore. Now siege mode decreases your engine power, so overall you go slower, but going reverse you should go faster than going forward, just as in normal mode you can go faster forward than backward.
In general I do not understand why reverse is so slow. The impuls engine is probably pulling instead of pushing and it seems it doesn't have much pull capability. But why not make an extra impuls engine for going backwards. Given the size of the ships, it doesn't seem there is no room for it.
Yes, I do use reverse thrust a lot on my escorts. Fly at target, full stop, going reverse, steering to keep the target in my firing arc. If you don?t move, you turn very slow and have a negative defense bonus.
I have the fleet Guramba and it's an awesome ship. I haven't done much with it but it did well in ESTF's with non-Borg gear on. It also has the most impressive animation for a ship in the entire game.
In fact before I bought it, I made a character just for the ship. I unfortunately haven't done much with him due how much a drain this reputation system is, but I did have a lot of fun an can imagine how much fun a fleet of these would be.
Guramba fleet now that would be an interesting fleet. :P

If a Nausicaan pirate is what I re-roll (and most likely it will) in May, I'm going to need that darned fleet Guramba! I keep my chars. in their specific ships.

As popular as it is a fleet version would do well I think.

Are they still only 1 if you purchased the retrofit. (Im assuming you are refering to the fleet retrofits)
I didn't realize how BO worked with the Javelin... I really need to play with that now! And I wonder if it works with the Gal-X lance the same way...
Edit: In an interview it was mentioned that a Fleet Gumby was at least being considered.
