Welcoming our Romulan allies

If you know anything about the KDF history the title of this thread will no doubt raise eye brows. It is true that for a long time Romulans and the KDF haven't seen eye to eye with one another, and even in some circumstances have been in a long lasting cold war with each other. However if you look around First City you'll see the faces of many people who aren't Klingon. We have shown to be able to ally with different species if we feel they can make a noticeable contribution to the empire. These Romulans will be no different.

We more than anyone know what its like to be an incomplete faction, and how some Feds called us whiners for asking Cryptic to treat us fairly, or even telling us we shouldn't expect fair treatment since we aren't the hero faction in the Star Trek IP. Romulan players will be facing many of these same challenges when their content is released. Which is why the honorable thing for us to do is stand with our future Romulan allies and welcome them into the KDF, and make KDF the most logical place for someone rolling a Romulan to be because of how they'll be treated.

I know some people are irritated that our allies will get access to our equipment, and the only way we'll get access to theirs is lockboxes/rep system/embassy, but you have to remember they are in transition right now, and when the time does come to where they can stand on their own two feet, we should help them lead the charge towards making them their own faction.

So yes welcome new Romulan players into your fleets even if they aren't rerolls from your fleetmates, and make them feel included and welcomed.

With KDF and Romulan voices combined hopefully all factions will start receiving equal treatment in regards to ship/content releases.

I concure with the honorable Klingon Empire! We must unite! That said, I shall politely pass on a large majority of your technology. It's a bit like bloodwine, flying a bird of prey doesn't settle well in my stomach, not after working aboard a Warbird for so long.

It is good to know we have allies among the empire. For the glory of our Alliance!

*claps her hands summoning a line of 20 young female Orion officers to formation*

    Ladies, Attention!

Shortly the KDF will be joined by the first of our Romulan Republic allies. You have all be selected for your technical expertise in your fields to serve as laison to the Romulans. All of you are conversant in the written and oral language of the Romulans, and the Remans in both conversational and technical forms. Your loyalty will be to the KDF first, then to the captain, ship and crew you will be assigned to.

I consider it a high honor that Klingon Defence Forces command has selected this ship and crew to provide the needed personell for this very important assignment. I have done my best as your captain to imbue you with the full knowledge of your duties, rights, and responsibilities as officer of the Klingon Empire. We of the Orion have had a difficult path within the KDF. We have had to prove to the Klingon that we are warriors. That we are far far more then the common perception of Orions as opportunistic space wolves always looking for the easy way. Always ready to slip a dagger in a back, or poison in a drink. To gain victory though deviousness, and subtlety. WE can do these things and do them well, and we have proven to the empire that even this way has its honor road.

You will soon disperse to your new assignements serving primarily with Romulan and Reman captains of the new Romulan Republic. Your job is to help those captains do thier job. To honor thier alliance to the best of thier ability, with good council, wisdom, and an understanding of the ongoing politics of the situation. Remember that they will be dealing with Klingons and that straitforwardness must always be what is percieved. We as Orions understand all to well that some of the traditional Romulan ways of going about tasks will be very very tempting to our new allies. There is a time and a place for everything, and every tactic and stratagem. You are not to repress such activity. Only to council when it would or would not be appropriate. Your duty is to keep the alliance strong, your honor will be your success at this endevor.

You all are relieved of duties aboard to we arrive at Qo'nos and have the liberty of the ship. Most of you willnot arrive at your assigned ships for some weeks yet. You are Warriors and Officers of the Klingon Defence Forces, and you are Women of Orion. I expect you to conduct yourselves appropriatly.

    Dismissed.

    :End Recording:

    Captain;
We have most likely not meet though perhapes someday we will. The Officer carrying this has been personally selected from the very best of my crew. She has been specificly trained to her duties by myself. She will serve you honorably and well. As an Orion I am somewhat used to dealying with the view of being an outsider in the KDF. Once Klingons accept you as a warrior though nothing will change thier view. You will need to prove to the Klingons that you and your crew are warriors. There will be some bigotry of course but most KFD fleet personell are rather cosmopolitan these day. At least if a Klingon doesn't like you, they will not only tell you to your face, but will even tell you why they dont like you. Always treat this as a challange. For what any Klingon who does this is really saying is "Give me a reason to respect you.

It is thier way. And it has been thier way for centuries of starflight. Klingons are not simple people or any sort of barbarian. Tread lightly I advise you, but if ever you must bite, do not hesitate. Bite Deep! Never simply show teeth, but take a mesured response that says "We can continue to escalate, but what is the honor in it?" And never ever be afraid to play the "Duty" card when dealing with your fellow Klingons of the alliance.
Honest, its saved me from a number of duels which would have been politically..sensitive.. had they been fought and I had won.

Romulan, or Reman, or Other. Captain of the Romulan Republic. Welcome to the Alliance.
