You know this how? if STO players would play NW or if NW players would play STO.

Please tell me where you got your polls from , have you been asking around the games I'm sure Cryptic would love your data.

it's clear Cryptic is targeting NW players to try STO.

finally, a cardassian i could vote for.

i'm a STO LTS (just don't care to show a special title), i played the last Neverwinter beta weekend, and will be playing this next one also. i also bought some Zen just for Neverwinter. i have also seen a number of names from this forum over on the NW forum, so i know i'm not the only one.

You can count me in those numbers. I enjoyed the Neverwinter beta. I will be playing the game when it goes live. I am not just a Sci-Fi fan. Nor am I just a Fantasy fan. I love them both. I never understood the aversion one has toward the other.

There are a couple of Foundry missions if I had the skill to write and the Foundry allowed it where the away team walks through a malfunctioning Iconian portal and ends up in Neverwinter or a Neverwinter character encounters a magical portal and ends up meeting an away team.

I don't know for certain, I'm basing it on the prior case I cited, which was a complete and utter failure.

But in general, the majority of sci-fi game players are in STO to get away from sword&sorcery/fantasy mmos.
And that I know for a fact, because it came up many times in discussion.

Case in point, CO is a semi-fantasy game and few STO players are over there.

The point I'm making is, sci-fi has a different mindset to fantasy based games, it's rare to meet someone who can appreciate both forms of gaming.
In most cases, they are mutually exclusive, someone who plays one kind won't play the other, because they're just too different from each other.

And like I stated before, if they are targeting NW players, why bother involving us at all?
That news item would be really relevant on the NW launcher (if it exists), but irrevalent for the STO launcher.

I have said this before, but the only reason why Neverwinter might be successful is the Foundry. It captures the essence of D&D with friends around a table playing an adventure that one of them has created. There are numerous fantasy MMOs out there and lots have been in business for years so there is tons more official content in them. Neverwinter being just another fantasy MMO won't succeed without the Foundry.

    "Free STO Items from Neverwinter"

$200 USD is not free if you have to buy one thing to get another it is not free
And the items themselves are not even worth it to begin with.

You guys should not say something is free when it is not i like STO but not impressed overall with PWE so i wont be playing neverwinter which will be yet another cookie cutter fantasy role play game.

In short this "FREE" items are not worth the price you pay to get the "FREE" items.

I'd still like a reason as to why they didn't include any KDF bonuses. Could you please find out for us, branflakes?

Hey genius , maybe it's a good thing they did not include any KDF items !

How about not having KDF items that cost $200 ?

Second.....if I buy this $200 pack, I get, what? Items i'd use for all of 15-20 minutes.

That pretty much sums it up. For that amount of money, they could have included a RA-level, 9-console version and not just a ship that's obsolete after running 2 episodes and a patrol.

Also the starter pack itself should be in for a revamp. As a new player you can probably get 5 purple Boffs as well as a full equipment loadout of better quality for free, just by politely asking 2-3 fellow players on ESD/SFA...

At this point, I'll take anything for the KDF, regardless of how much it costs. As long as we get some kind of content on the KDF side.

And what if the countdown is about announcing the Romulan faction. As Kirk would say, "What does a Romulan need with an Andorian ship?"

Again if he only waited 12 more days for this announcement and it would have been an epic April Fool's joke. But since he's serious -- SMH

Countdown announced Romulan faction so now the question applies that Kirk would ask.

Oh, so the "Check your email for redemption codes (the email should arrive by 3/22)." thing is nonsense? I imagine the other games have things automatically applied too then?

i love their cross promos because i love most of cryptics games, just something quality about them,, It would be nice to have a counter on the NWN launcher for when the game servers will be up, the "weekend" doesnt help if you are in Australia trying to guess when the 'weekend' is for California. I've logged on for the last 3 'weekends' and havent seen the server up.

Yeah, Beta tests are always a pain in the afterburner for Aussie players.
I happen to be Australian, just so you know.

I got into another one only to discover the beta ran roughly from 7am-9am my time.
And I only worked that out because I did the conversion via a website.

Ingame, the event calendar will do the conversion to my timezone.

So why can't they program the launchers to do the same conversion?

I'm tired of going to websites to work out what time PST or whatever is when the launcher should just tell me in my timezone.

The Neverwinter forums give complete details on the beta testing, including times. Since the Neverwinter Community Team maintains that information, and the STO Community Team maintains the STO forums, the Neverwinter ones are the best place to go if you want up to date information on that game.

That being said, last weekend it wasn't up at all. The beta weekends have been on specific weekends; this is only the third in two months.

As I type this, the server has been up for over 20 hours. Don't go by the "Server Down" indicator on the launcher, that's a known bug, advertised as such on the forums.

Why are there only Federation bonus items in the NWN promotion? There are other factions, and with the Romulan expansion releasing soon. You did say the new expansion, would have both KDF and Romulans leveling from 1-50! I would not pay $200 for NWN, because I do not play any of PWE other games. And I have no interest what so ever in Federation gameplay. Include KDF and Romulan goodies, you will get more interest then.

Cryptic are at their shenanigans again. Ah the carnage begins, I love it! Hurry, I want to get in on all the fun on the forums. Cryptic surrender! Because if you don't surrender, or attempt to ignore us, this device will denote, and you, your town, and everything within a million mile radius, will just simply go kaboom. If you look under your cstore Bundles on the cryptic store you'll see the andorian pack there. Sadly it is one character only - so once you use it it can't be used again. Also, quite a conundrum is that the pack comes with a sci and and an eng officer and one of the other packs I have (steam starter?) also comes with a sci and and eng. So if you don't pick a tac officer for your first officer and open both the packs you'll be stuck with no tac officer until you upgrade. I'd vote since it is an assault ship, the andorian pack should come with a tac officer.

A quick review of a ship - it is very maneuverable, the cannons on it are very devastating (~400dps), and it is essentially a tier 1 variant of the andorian Kumari Kumari. Just to tease, cryptic allows you to view the other costumes for the ship but is more than happy to either offer up the option to buy one of the ships (say you go all charrel on it) or the tier 4 variants. Sneaky promo.

The ship is very cool looking but appears to be a more current year version than the "Enterprise" variation - the engine pod does not extrude from the back of the escort as far. Still a very sweet starter ride, for all 10 levels.

I may be mistaken but I think in the latest version of the tutorials you're automatically given a Tactical Officer these days...

Neverwinter will no doubt be a huge fail and most people will try it once and never go back. Personally i refuse to pay $200 to get early access to a game that won't be carrying on the NWN timeline.... Just don't see the point frankly

Well, I don't see the issue then, as this game DOES continue that timeline; just around a century later. Since it's the same timeframe as the current edition of the setting from Wizards of the Coast, it's the logical point in which to set it, wouldn't you agree? After all, NWN 1 and 2 were set in the then-current timeframe from the then-current pen and paper books, as well.

I am confused. Will I be able to buy a sub to Neverwinter like monthly or hopefully a lifetime sub to a gold status? How does the sub model work in Neverwinter? Is it gonna be like all the cheap MMOs that were not Cryptic made that PWE currently offer with no sub option and just a nickle and dimming micro-transaction store?? If no sub option then I will pass on this game. I really enjoyed the Beta and Cryptic really did an awesome job at creating the game. It's just a shame that PWE had to ruin it with their micro-transaction only pay model.

Their isn't a sub model in nwn. Play for free. They survive on people who open Lockboxes so they don't want my Money.

From what I have played, awesome game though.
The rules are really different though.
Should I start posting again after all this time?

Neverwinter will have all content available for free. There is no need to get anything from the C-Store. Although inventory, respecs, and a health stone that has 200 uses and full heals are very useful items. Everything else is purely cosmetic. The C-Store in Neverwinter is just like the C-Store in Star Trek Online except their ships don't fight back.

W're excited to announce that purchasing a Hero of the North Founder's Pack for Neverwinter will now get you the Andorian Starter Pack, which includes two free items in Star Trek Online, along with several free items in other PWE games.

    Link to the news article.

The page Bran linked to says the Andorian Starter Pack is available today. I logged in, and I can't find it in the C-Store anywhere. How do we claim this item?
