Cliche wall sticking movie monsters. Boring.

They should look like a big guy in a rubber suit. Bipedal or go home.

They do look sorta cool, and I might like a few of those options.

But before you say the game's not doing well, you might want to back it up with finaicial records as proof ;) Just saying
    Was named Trek17.

Been playing STO since Open Beta, and have never regarded anything as worse than 'meh', if only due to personal standards.

They're cool, but they look nothing like the Gorn in TOS and ENT. I think I like them the way they are.

"Critics who say that the optimistic utopia Star Trek depicted is now outmoded forget the cultural context that gave birth to it: Star Trek was not a manifestation of optimism when optimism was easy. Star Trek declared a hope for a future that nobody stuck in the present could believe in. For all our struggles today, we haven’t outgrown the need for stories like Star Trek. We need tales of optimism, of heroes, of courage and goodness now as much as we’ve ever needed them."

Lens-flare Trek can have reptiles with tails, horns, wings or whatever and call them Gorn as much as it wants.

This game still has the right Gorn.

No no no... I'm not a fan of the JJ Trek universe either but I actually really liked the look of these Gorn. Not only that but I thought graphically they looked great... I think you guys are taking this a bit seriously. The reason I think this game is not doing as well as it should because the developers lack imagination... maybe these could have been sub-species that evolved on the Gorn Homeworld?

But it wasn't really the design choices but more the graphical difference that made me go "cool!"... at least its something new!

Either way... I SO want to visit the Gorn Homeworld!

The Gorn in this game are such badasses they'd make those alternate Gorn run back to their swamps so fast that they'd out run light from a lens-flare

True, but its still a possible idea for sub-species on the Gorn Homeworld when Cryptic does an Adventure Zone there... I deffo wanna see more love for the Gorn.

The Gorn have several different castes, including the Warriors we saw in TOS (not yet in this game) and the guys from the techno caste that are not yet represented in STO either.
Based on their description in the STO novel they are clearly indentifiable as Gorn they're just all muscle and incredibly fast.
Gorn in the prime timeline do not have tails.
I'd love to see more of those.

The JJ-Gorn...those aren't even identifiable as Gorn unless someone puts a sign next to them.
Also the Gorn in TOS "Arena" were able to turn Spock's tricorder into a bomb by remote from 1,200 yards (almost 1,100 meters) away.
    That takes brains.
That JJ-Gorn are all mouth and tail, no brain.

Also note that there are several different types of JJ-Gorn...including a "mutated" version in other words this is some kind of comic-book-style game.

    +1 lol :D

OP, the Gorn are suposed to be very intelligent and the way the STO Gorn looks it kinda' emphasizes that.
Those Gorn you posted look like the most intelligent thing they could do is chew on a rock. :D ...which is actually not that suprising comming from J.J. Trek.

Oh god, nooooo, STOP IT JJ ABRAMS

The only problem I have with STO's Gorn is that, when fully buffed up, they're merely fat rather than super f-ing ripped like I'd imagine badass space lizards to be.

Hmm. They look more like jacked up Velociraptors than Gorn to me. Am I meant to believe that these things can fly ships or use computers?

They look good enough I suppose, a typical snarly lizard beast that I'm sure many people will enjoy blasting in the face with their comically huge phaser hand cannon.

Personally I feel they look too primitive.

Eh... just as a counter point, Species 8472 can use consoles with their stupidly long fingers and three legs. So why can their not be variations of the Gorn... Humans have plenty of variations, ethnic backgrounds etc... could this not be the same for the Gorn?

To be blunt, if the Gorn were that intelligent, they would not be slaves to the Klingon's currently. Even the Federation has beat the Klingon's into a stalemate... are you telling me the Gorn Hegemony are incapable of this? Bull$^$?

I certainly would not let my intelligent, ancient and culturally based race be taken over by a bunch of battle-mad barbarians and technological inferiors. The Klingon's get most of their technology by stealing it from other races they have conquered and still use old ships like B'Rel and K'tinga in battle.

No wonder they get easily sidestepped by the Federation every single time... DS9 Season 4 anyone?

Lets not even count the time when a whole Fleet of Klingon Ships were incapable of overcoming one Cardassian space station... says better things about the Cardassians to be honest.

How many of those human varations have tails?
The STO novel explicitly states the Gorn don't have tails, it's not really that complicated.

Oh, BTW we're talking about the fat that the size of the JJ-Gorn mouths leaves no room for a brain of any credible carpacity..

The Federation has not managed to contain.
The Klingons were were not willing to go to war with the Feds.
In "Yesterday's Enterprise", the Klingons did and they won.
    What does that tell you?

Let's see, "battle-mad barbarians" tells us you're unwilling to actually discuss the Klingons as a species.

"The Klingon's get most of their technology by stealing it from other races", I'd like to get an actual source for this, or is it just some BS you came up with?

HMM, the Fleet you talk about was only a minor part of the forces the Klingons sent into Cardassian space since the rest was still fighting the Cardassians at that point.
Gownron says as much when he orders them to stop their invasion afterwards.
The Klingons sent about a 3rd of their military and they basically wiped the Cardassians off the map in a week.
Do you actually watch Star Trek?

Don't look silly... Don't call it the "Z-Store/Zen Store"...
Let me put the rumors to rest: it's definitely still the C-Store (Cryptic Store) It just takes ZEN.

    My General Thoughts:

I am VERY Dissapointed here! Gorn are intellegent to the point of making a tricorder a bomb from 1,100 meters away (Spock's Tricorder)They are NOT unhumane, preostoric dinosaurs that barley can hold a weapon. Thye don't have tails, they aren't quote on quote "clothless" all the time and I can go on and on. VERY off canon. Also said.. I would NOT know this was a Gorn unless someone told me! I totally and utterly agree with the poster above. I just thought they looked "cool" as a pre-evolved form of Gorn that existed on their homeworld. I agree that Gorn, for me are the only thing that make the Klingon's worth playing. If I could get a playable Federation Gorn, I would jump at the chance.

Yah I know... but remember.. the Gorn were "beagan" in 5000 B.C. they evolve quick to be as smart as they are. But I assure you they were never as JJ Abrams made them. Infact... I think he just wanted a monster so he killed the Gorn attitude by insulting the actual Gorn..

This is the interwebz after all. If you can keep assuming and posting happy-happy things about Cryptic, some other forum guy can assume Doom-Crying things about other developers, right?

And, for the record, those are some pretty silly Gorn. They look more like the raptors that trapped the kids in the kitchen in the first Jurassic Park.
