Nerfing Caitians, Buffing Andorian ships.

Ok, now this totally baffles me as I don't know why this is happening.
From today's patch notes:

?Lunge and Pounce now share a 6.0 sec Category Cooldown.

Has anyone seen a cat play with other cats? He will jump off a higher surface, i.e. lunge, and knock the other kitty to the ground. Then he'll immediately jump up and pounce on the other car keeping him/her on the ground.

Did someone cry it's overpowered? Well, let me see. We all that own caitians have bought them from the c-store. If they are tactical officers (the best ones are) they will be able to keep the opponent on the ground for many seconds. That's the pleasure of the Caitian. Changing the way of the caitian is not going to win you any catnip points with any of us. :mad:

Then in the same patch notes:

?Increased the damage of the Overload attack.
?Decreased the charge up time from 4 seconds to 2 seconds.
?This no longer shares a category cooldown with Cannon: Rapid Fire or Cannon: Scatter Volley.
?Increased the Hull of Wing Cannon Platforms by about 25%.
?Increased the Shields of Wing Cannon Platforms by about 25%.

Nice way to be consistent. So a Caitian in an Andorian escort has to go all space because ground will be troublesome.

Forcing everyone to get Andorian ships because you continue to make these more powerful and nerfing the caitians doesn't seem to be the way to go. is 400 pts less important than 5000?

I don't care if a dev comments or not, but put the caitians back. I don't give a cat tail about the andorian ship. I don't own one, and don't plan to with the horrid boff layout.

    Read the discussion on the Tribble patch notes. Also, Borticus's explanation for the Pounce/Lunge change.

    Thanks Mando, but that still doesn't make it right. because pvp'ers can't counter against it which they can if they were smart they have to share a cooldown now. I just feel like deleting all my cats now, because this was one of the only reasons I bought them..

    If you have any insight on how PvPers can easily break the dominance of a Pounce+Lunge+finisher strike from Ambush/Stealth Module, go right ahead and post how in the PvP section.

    As it is, Borticus looked at the situation the PvPers were complaining about, and agreed that it was overpowered. This was the solution he settled on.

    I don't use the stealth module, but the close combat kit, but Engy can use Weapon Malfunction or the mines, Sci can use the Physicist kit's Repulsors to keep them at bay, it knocks them down. Quite simple if you do the thought process. Now stealth? you have to undo stealth before using any skills, and if you pass a stealth you will see them if close enough depending on your specs

    Not to mention you can hear a tac beside you powering up their skills before uncloaking.

    I already have a tac officer that uses the stealth kit and can get 2000+ from a one shot.. I bought a caitian to use the close combat kit as a different playing style. Eh, time to put a stealth on that now, since I only have one shot in pvp/pve.

    That's my point. I could one-hit KO someone with a powered-up and timed lunge alone. I didn't need a combo.

    Contact your credit card company, and initiate a charge back for the amount it cost you to buy the Catian in the first place. Trust me it's worth it, nothing more satisfying than Cryptic/PWE devaluing an item you paid hard earned money for and making it not worth what you paid for it, and then simply taking your money back from them. If you're not happy, you need to show it, and these forums really aren't the place for it, because Cryptic/PWE really don't give 2 craps about complaints in here or your opinion they fall on deaf ears.

    You need to show them you're mad by talking with your money especially money they've stolen from you through devaluation.

    Oh, boo hoo. Every game has to balance powers and abilities. Every power is subject to change because of this.

    You've lost nothing, because you can still use both abilities in less time than a player with only one of them can use it.

    Not a fan of nerfing of pounce. People pay extra to unlock the caitian species. As few people that play pvp in this game and then the even fewer people that play a caitian and pvp this should not have been changed. You can't even re-trait your cat for some other power.. but it's the same thing that happened to the borg neural trait as well basically making them worthless. Kits should not negate traited powers especially on c-store unlocks.

    As for needing to power balance.... really? How long have caitians been in this game???? If it were an issue why now instead of two years ago? As others have said one hit pulsewave kills? Will we wait two years for a nerf their now? Did Borticus have a bad day in PvP against a cat?

    Sorry not a cat person....so no points in here...however, that is cryptic and they do tend to nerf everything....they should at least leave us and play. Dont think many complain about it since first time I heard about lunge/pounce. When doing ground pvps cats do have an advantage that some of us work around...dont mind it a bit myself since I use my static gun and a cat is just a kitty with no power...it does suck when they have to meddle to NERF everything :confused:

    Pulsewave won't get nerfed because the PVPers approve of their one shot. If it's not a kill done by pulsewave they want it nerfed.

    They made so overpowered Andorian ships...25% boost fire,reduce cooldown skills...Boost defence of platforms etc etc...My grandma can play too with that ship.

    I really recommend to newbies at PvP.Don't worry u will be ok with that huge boosted grandma class ships.This game had already bad balance at Pvp(everybody knows that include many game blogs too) now its worst then ever...Good job...

    Please boost them more.Maybe its not enough...Give them 100% more...

    I for one think that the high jump is an unfair advantage in some situations.
    The winter event race with the super "I win high jump" was laughable for instance.
    If 3 cats were in the race, the others could just a well sit down.

    No other race has these advantages, whetever free or C-store ones.
    Let us wear Swimsuits on Foundry maps or bridges please! I would pay zen for that.

    My fat Borg that was dressed as Santa would disagree....the jumping makes them go higher not faster, and I've beaten plenty of cats in the race before the wall patch and after

    It's just a minor nerf. And at least it prevents cat players from using that in pve too. It was a bit too easy. Of course this is also a good pvp change.

    My Ferasan tolf me he didn't mind. :P

    Jumping does not make us faster at all.

    So Cryptic has now nerfed one of the classic Caitian HTH maneuvers. How many PvPers called for this? Can we compare it to the number of Eng and Sci captains who are begging for a little love for their cruisers and Nebulas?

    You have just taken the scream and leap out of "Ol' Captain Scream 'n' Leap". I used to enjoy barreling into a mob of Borg and tearing them up with Pounce and Kirk-fu, but he is now contemplating a rocking chair.

    I do like how I get a choice of killing people by elite pulsewave, by MACO sniping, or with a good Lunge. 1500 crit damage is still a heck load to soak up when fired off.

    Grab a sword and do STFs with that. You'll do more jumping around than Pounce and Lunge ever did.
    And none of it is OP apparently.
    It all is. Balance can not be achieved with wild swings, however, we must make baby steps. Pulsewaves, if they continue to be super dominant, will probably see a balance pass eventually. Same with Tacs chaining together massive buff strings that nobody but the most eagle-eyed medic can deal with (and only temporarily).

    Just the same question remains. If all of this is broken, why is it taking so long to change? A lot of this stuff has been here since the initial release.
