Perhaps I need to be more precise. Pol weapons can proc for -50 drain. Cannons fire more so they proc more= more drain. Sci powers can be evaded a lot easyer than cannon fire. So technically it isn't more power but its a lot harder to counter since there is no biff power that can immediately counter it's proc as with phasers
im not sure why theres such a power drain concern at this point really. the siphon drone has the most powerful pet related effect, this is true. but, only a target that is asleep and wants to die is going to be killed by them, seriously. it cant apply their deadly effect, not against anyone trying actively not to die. they pop instantly by turret CSV, can be outrun by everything, even with how bad faw is they get poped easy, you have plenty of time to hit evasive when you see them start draining you too.
lets say your a slow cruiser or sci ship and you got droned, well that EWP and or TBR you have, because you saw your were facing then and you swapped boffs, is a 100%get out of siphon free card. use ether of these abilites will your at 4/4/4/4 power, and you save yourself in about 3 seconds.
runabouts, intercepters, their effect is much less dramatic, their ability to apply it though is unlimited. so they are so much worse in actual effect.
if other sources of energy drain are making you rage, fix your fail build and put 99 points in insulators. run the maco shield, get leach yourself, all other sources of energy drain you are basically immune to. also tet glider will stop kicking your TRIBBLE so bad.

polarons are resisted by power insulators though, so that actual 50 power (if you have 6-9 points in power insulators) is already reduced to about 20-30 power, it doesnt stack like it used to so a single source of polarons can not drain you dry like it used to.
and actually, its easier to avoid weapons fire then some science drains, there is no way to "dodge" power siphion because its a 100% hit rate with a 360 arc. sure you can clear it but you will always be hit by it.
and anything can run single cannons/turrets and rapid fire these days. beams just flat out suck...

The same could be said for countering Advanced Danubes. Easy to kill, Easy to Outrun. Only Escort pilots seem to whine about em, even though they have at least 2 copies of APO with a couple purple AP Doff's that reduce their CD to global, not to mention that some run with at least a rank 1 PH. They just hate having to waste APO on breaking a tractor, rather than buffing an Alpha. Boohoo.
Interceptors, I just avoid. They're like mobile, but less powerful Aceton Assimilators. I typically avoid Carriers and their spam altogether because there's almost always one or more cloaked BoP's behind all that spam.

what the HELL are you talking about dude. that is the opposite of true. thats the problem with them, they have to much damn hitpoints to kill with a simple AOE spray.

its actually not possible to avoid the fasted moving objects in the entire game, try again.
A torp spread or scatter volley should easily take them out. You can only have up to 4 danubes out at a time. They've already been fixed once so that they could have no more than one tractor beam active at the same time. They were later nerfed to a tractor beam cooldown (10? 15? seconds) to prevent spamming. Nerfing them anymore will deprive them of their sole purpose and a lot of people are going to want a big chunk of Dilithium back.
The interceptors maybe fast and hard to shake but once you're out of range of the carrier and the bulk of its swarm, the hitchikers are far more easily dealt with a couple of TS or HYT.
AHHHHHHHH more evul Klinguns that start helping the feds!!!
kk SO now that we can have an actual conversation:
If an escorts drains you to zero. You have no insulator specced aka you own fault, or some dark haxor magic is happening.
If you really want to get to the bottom of why drain on you was so bad, I'm more then happy to help you figure out why. Given the premise that it was an escort ( so even if it was kdf bug) op kdf only toys where not the issue. Maybe someone else put some sci magic on you without you noticing.
Yes, FlowC enhances the drain of Polaron proc. The numbers you see in the tooltip on your end are pretty impressive. A single proc can drain around 50 from each subsystem. However, resists, both by players and NPCs, turn that into an actual drain of around 15 in practice.

Last I read PI is supposed to cap out at 50% reduction in effect. If it's achieving higher than that, it's probably bugged.
If you feel Keel'el's effect is well designed, please, for your own safety, be very careful around shallow pools of water.

Hah ...progress. That is something we should be able to test fairly quickly. Again if you have a polaron weapons and FlowC consoles, just pm me in game.
I agree entirely with the OP. There should be nothing in this game but direct tanking and sustained dps. Complexity, rock-paper-scissors balancing, and a system of multiple hard and soft counters is nothing but horrible game design. Any build that cannot be readily countered by RAAAAAAGHHH MORE TANK and/or ARARARARARA MOAR DPS is overpowered and should be nefed into uselessness.
i think it does improve the drain of polaron weapons, other question related to this,
i heard you dont need flow caps to get the max drain on tykens rift, is it true ?
I heared that too, haven't tried it myself, but given my limited encoutners with tykens, it seems true that FloC does not buff the energy drain from Tykens. aka Tykens is borked.

Many thanks, I feel some rebuilds coming on - shame my main toon, who has all polarons, only has 1 sci slot.
