I have played this game since launch, and I am sad. The ground pvp community is immature and unstable. They afk as many matches as they can and often, in an assault match, will pick up the virus then afk to greif their own team or not run the virus at all and spawn camp the 50 kill count out! We need some kind of defense against these kinds of behavior that is making me loose intrest in the game. Pvp is the best part of this game since it lacks WoW-like raids. And now you want to add fleet marks to the pvp missions! Do you know how many people will be afk/greifing now? I won't be able to Q. It's becomming depressing. I love Star Trek. Please respond with some kind of news to sooth my soul. I sobered up about a year ago and Star Trek has been my life since. Please give me some kind of news to make me feel batter about it.
I usually just kill people I see sitting at the spawn, sometimes they try to heal or run so I can tell some of them don't like being killed. I'll go along with your idea if others in the match agree to it though.
People there for the marks aren't going to grief your mission by stalling completion because then they won't get paid. You have nothing to worry about there. At worst they'll do nothing, at best they'll attack aggressively to try to end it. You're more likely to see cases where everyone attacks, no one defends.
I quite enjoy it when people pick up the virus and then fight on the bridge the whole match. It ensures active PvP is happening. If I had a dollar for every time someone cloaked up and ran the virus the whole match and ended it prematurely... I'd be quite rich.
You don't need the virus to win Shanty. It's a crutch for bad teams and is only ever useful if you make the entire other team ragequit and beam out.

That's a great idea really. And le't do the same if we see spawn campers. Oh the irony, KvF queues would be instantly empty.
"Cryptic Studio’s Jack Emmert (2010): Microtransactions are the biggest bunch of nonsense. I like paying one fee and not worrying about it – like my cellphone. The world’s biggest MMO isn’t item based, even though the black market item GDP is bigger than Russia … microtransactions make me want to die.”

"Spawn Camping" is a fallacy created by the federation dogs. If your team has been suppressed at your deployment point... well its time to rethink your tactics.

Have it ever occured to you, that those "federation dogs" are suppressed to the deplyoment point, because the AFkers ? and some cheese like dropping aceton and tricobalts to spawn point with BopS ?
Eventually, there will be only afkers in FvK, and if klingons warp out, there will be no FvK. Hence why I said that.
So my dear, its rather you, who should rethink your tactics. Because if I were to rethink mine, I would just stop queing for FvK.
The real irony, is the very same spawn campers, then moan in OPvP about lack of feds in queue and basically beg them to queue.
P.S. I would like to point out, that my previous post should have been in the post started by Minimax..for some reason, it went here.

But also do agree with Dalnar about moaning Klings, specifically a certain green fleet and its leader complaining about lack of queuing for FvK. The same fleet that had no qualms about exploiting bugs against other teams, and now they whine about empty queues. Lulz, those morons emptied them out, so don't cry when Feds don't queue up anymore.
The core of the problem lies in the "reward for loosers" kind of mentality.
If you ban afking, people will just remove their shields and suicide to finish the match asap. The only thing that scares such people from the pvp queues is that reward or rather credit for win, goes only to winning team.

But the real farmers/grinders will simply take off their shield array and charge the enemy. Much much worse, I highly recommend using private queue and or capture and hold until they find a way to deal with it. Or atleast for the first weekend.
Scratch that though, the real farmers will be multiboxing :D
There needs to be a "pain field" in the spawn area or something that kills you if you camp there too long, or the spawn areas need to be re-designed so they cannot be camped. Also, if there is no activity on your character for x amount of minutes in a pvp map, then you get auto kicked. :P That would work I think.
Most of the people I've seen ragequit from shanty are people who don't pvp much. Granted, only seen it happen once, but... it happened. And I'm sure it happens more often than just once in three years. :P

If it gets so bad that we have to do that, we should use the tools at our disposal.
Speaking just for myself here , but OPvP also has a LOT of chit-chat , and that kind of turns me off (same with the REDALERT channel) .
While I'm not trying to create drama/split the pvp community -- IMHO if there was a channel strictly dedicated to PVP match calls (akin to EliteSTF) -- with zero chit-chat , I'd be interested in signing up .
+ Now with FM being assigned to PVP , I'm thinking AFK-ers will become more prominent in the public Q's than ever before .

My 2 cents .:)
Maybe the less intelligent ones. Having to repeat a mission that can take upwards of an hour three times and is available randomly once per day seems, frankly, beyond idiotic to AFK in for Fleet Marks. It's be far more productive to AFK the Fleet Alert mission, should one be inclined to do so. It's available reliably every 30 minutes, relatively easy for 4 players to accomplish, and has no special condition other than show up for it.
If you feel Keel'el's effect is well designed, please, for your own safety, be very careful around shallow pools of water.
This is an idea from the sick idea factory that is my brain-Branflakes has floated some map setting ideas to better PvP-which is good.
But it doesn't, imho, go far enough into the realm of addressing issues.
You've all had it happen (except the ones that it hasn't happened to yet): The que pops, you go into an Arena, there are four other 'people' icons, your team gets wiped and at the end of the match, on the little display, there is your answer as to why:
"So_and_So@Thusandsuch Damage dealt:0 Healing:0"
if you were aware of what was around you, you might have noticed that B'rel, or Defiant, parked by the gate, doing nothing.
There should be a way to MARK this guy as a TARGET for the other team. "Bonus points to kill this leeching *******."
and for the guy who just doesn't res?
autokick his lazy TRIBBLE and bring in whoever's waiting on the que for a match immediately.
Just a thought from the sick idea factory.
agreed, i have only started noticing it since fleet marks were added. one or two guys just sleeping at the gate. i try to remember theyre names for future ridicule
Every week there's a new thread to moan about AFKing in PVP, and every week nothing happens. Until it stops people doing PVE it's VERY unlikely we'll see a fix for it.
In an ideal world the whole arena would see an AFK player and warp out, but thats just not feasible. Some either wont see it happening and some just won't care.

And what do you do when a player is refusing to rez in arena because two players are spawn camping him? (Say a science officer with tractor beam, viral matrix, and shockwave with a Jem'hadar Attack ship sitting at the spawn). If you autokick after an amount of time, you let the spawn campers continue to camp due to fear of kicking, rather than forcing them to move back to the real fight from a lack of spawn. I know AFKing is a bit of a problem in space, but autokick isn't a viable option. It WILL be abused in order to win close matches. Neither is kicking players after a certain amount of time with no DPS. (You'd kill the ability for bird of prey to hit and run).
Comments
that'll make you feel better :P
Do you even Science Bro?
If everyone sees an afker in the game after the first few exchanges, calmly cease fire and warp out.
This is equivalent to destroying their base. If people try to afk in pvp ill stay cloaked and go eat a sandwich after everyone else leaves.
Fight pvp afkers, a swarm is coming with from rewards for daily. Arm yourselves, warp on them.
ggs gl hf
I support this idea, however, aren't you perpetuating the madness by eating a sandwich till everyone warps out?
Sounds like a double-edged sword. I'm cool with it.
If it gets so bad that we have to do that, we should use the tools at our disposal.
if they give the completion for daily (they do) then i say we make REAL DEATHMATCH MARKFESTS where 10 v 10 only 5 kills.
yes it will be done

Huh? I don't think I have ever had the other team ragequit. I have had my team ragequit when being spawncamped by cloaked Caitians and Engineer spam.
