Is this for pvp or pve? I can give more info once I know what you intend to do with it.

After flying a Vesta since the day they were relased:
You will get more damage out of beam arrays then you will out of cannons, because its easier to keep a broad side 6 weapons firing then it is to keep weapons in a 90/120 arc firing, Not to mention with arrays you can generally keep all weapons going while maintaining max speed, whereas with cannons you will need to slow down from time to time to reposition yourself, and lowering your speed means lowering your defense, and you dont do any dps at all when you are dead, or you have overshot your firing arc.
What makes the aux cannons even worse then this still is that they draw power from a system that should be reserved for dealing out your sci abilities, be them heals, debuffs, or placates.
Tldr? Vesta + Cannons are bad, also Aux cannons = garbage.
As long as we are talking garbage, count those Vesta consoles among them. Everytime I see a Quantum field bubble, that person becomes my primary target for the rest of the match because i know they have sacrificed 3 console slots for abilities that dont perform well enough to pvp against anyone worth their salt.
In the Vesta and Cryptic's defense, Aux Cannons and the consoles work fine in pve, and make the ship unique and enjoyable.

Interesting, run beams on a Vesta. I'll have to test that out.
Aux Cannons are actually quite effective, if you dump 100 power into Aux. I've flown alongside a PVP Boot Camp assistant coach in a friendly STF, and I've drawn more aggro from enemies simply because of the firepower. Along with turrets, I find ships blow up pretty quick.
I agree with you though, running all three consoles and getting that lousy 7sec bubble is a stupid idea. I only run the Spinal Lance and Fermion Field consoles, and I'm even considering dumping the former due to lack of damage. The Fermion Field is the most useful console; allowing self and friend hull heals and minor shield heals has saved my neck a couple times.

On my Tac, I can get my Quantum Focus Field Controller at 8500 dmg/sec with only 3 Particle Generators and no Sensor Analysis.
Enjoy.
I did something similar on my Vesta, though I had a DBB in front for targeting engines (I have the level 2 one in addition to what comes with the ship.
The first time I used it in PvP I ran head-on at a Chel Gret. I hit him with target engines, the Quantum Focus beam, and GW at about the same time, then the PSW to stun him and knock him back into the GW. While he was stunned I ran over him with EWP. I spun around after I passed to SNB any buffs or heals off him, and not only was he almost dead by then, but I caught two BoPs that I hadn't even seen. The Chel went up first and took took out the two BoPs.
I almost never get a setup that perfect, but GW+EWP+5 Particle Generators can do some ridiculous damage straight to the hull. Just the EWP and GW will kill if the target doesn't get out of it.

GW 3, PSW 1 (or FBP 2), and EWP 1.
4 (or 5) Particle Generators.

and the best part is, partical gens also increase warp poo and the iso metric charge. nothing like a little chain lightning to brighten someones days!
