Of interest to KDF

No mention of any new KDF ships prior to 18.5 min into interview.. Al notes the many ship varients needed for KDF ships.


HAH! Average fleet size is 25 players *players, not player characters*(target number) obviously these guys don't play KDF!!!

Nothing really in part 2 for KDF players..

Bummered out.

    He doesn't know their names, but he knows they need more variants...

    ...Pakled jokes started to come to mind and I had to go for a smoke by the time it got 20 minutes in. Like several I know though, we couldn't get past 29-30 minutes in for the remaining 40 minutes of it. I might try again today.

    Alot being planned, just not for us. Business as usual.

    I was quite annoyed about when he spoke about the decision to put the Andorian battlecruiser they are also working on (go figure), in the cstore, because if it was in a lockbox, that means they would have to create a KDF ship as well - God forbid. They wouldn't want that now would they.

    Please prove me wrong Cryptic - I have faith in you.

    To be honest though, c'mon - they're looking at doing the Fleet Peghqu'...just waiting until it only pisses people off instead of really pisses them off.

    Don't forget the Regh'Var... the Regent-like Fleet Negh'Var...right?

    As for the variants, think the first will be the D'Gavama? The one that Dan let slip has been ready for the B'Rel since before F2P but never made it into the game? So the first one will be "Hey, look at the hard work we did for you guys! Er...a couple of years back."

    It is technical in game, the B'Rotlh BOP Pets have it as their skin.

    Part of the problem is the hole they've dug themselves into.

    They rely on fed ship sales but how do you tell your main cash base that you're releasing KDF cruisers with better turning and DHC enabled? Fed cruiser pilots already complain a lot about how inferior they feel their ships are compared to escorts, imagine if they really caught on to how much better the KDF battlecruisers are? Sure, they may be slightly less durable but they move better and punch harder.

    And the most interesting part of it being that the Fed. cruisers don't actually suck, but they made them suck themselves with the DPS favoring game-mechanics they implemented. :D

    but everything is relative


    in pve cruisers dont suck at all if built right. i have an assault cruiser refit and with 6 beams, cutting beam and 180 degree quantum torp it came with it maintains 8-10k dps in any space stf no problem. honestly, more than 6k is overkill right now.


    in pvp you have a case, but for pve - which i'm pretty sure more people engage in over pvp - cruisers are not in a bad place at all...


    ...that is if they would stop giving escorts cruiser-levels of hull and shield mods.

    I know what you're saying, I mostly use cruiser/battlecruisers on my chars.
    But, you see, that part in red was what I was thinking when I posted that. That and the diminishing results of eng.consoles compared to the increasing buff of the tac.consoles.

    In a game where DPS rules and healing/surviving/debuffing abilities are neglected, you get more for your run from an escort, especially when your escort can survive almost as good as a cruiser.

    I don't restrict my game that way, I play what seems fun for me and I take ships I like. Happens for me to like cruisers besides the downsides. :)
    That doesn't change the fact thet the game mechanic should be tweaked so the role of the cruiser becomes more noble in STO.

    I havent listened to the second half of the interview yet but the first half did not leave me exactly hopeful for the future. Its sad that its conclusion is just as shallow

    Way to learn the your lesson Cryptic. Way to give to those whom have spent years drinking the cool-aid of Fed uberness by sacrificing us second class fans to the wheels of fan driven egoes that they must be best at all things just to fill your purses.
    Thanks for monetizing our fandom into being worthless.

    It's clear they're going to monetize every little segment of the game until we cannot handle any it longer. What isn't clear is how much leeway Dan has to monetize this or monetize that or how much to do it in the first place. However, fortunately for us, most of the playerbase (even the feds) are waking up to the slow erosion of the the player base's resources.

    Yep. Remember pre-F2P when cruisers were the highest dps dealers because of their large amount of weaponry... and when they were so damn hard to kill that 3 to 4 escorts could pummel it all day and not dent it... unless one of those escorts wisened up and focused on one shield facing only and THEN the cruiser's survivability suffered? When a sci ship's presence made it the prime target for both cruisers and escorts due to its ability to shut them down and leave them vulnerable to anyone?

    Yeah... when the game was balanced and escorts were really potent IF flown according to their hit&run role.

    Thats sad as they could have at least not fracked away two plus years of promising KDF full factionality before billing us for everything we have been waiting for anyways.

    Oh well, seems Ive spent good money on a gaming PC that is going to gather more dust than playtime.

    You mean when beams didnt miss most times, BFaw was the second better Beam OVerload used by spiraling packs of zombie cruisers? Or the time when SNB spamming scicorts ruled ?

    I found those particular periods no more balanced than we have now, just different bugs and mechanics being exploited differently.
