Q: (trygvar13) What happened to the D?Gavama class Bird of Prey? I have the screenshot of when it was released on TRIBBLE but it is still not available.

Dstahl: This ship was removed prior to our Free to Play launch and we expect it to return to the game later this year.


Wasn't that some sort of B'Rel variant? It's a Romulan-Klingon BoP, no? Too early to speculate on stats? :P

Q: (nometa) Will we be able to get a Romulan Warbird or a D?deridex class now that we?re helping the Romulans on New Romulus?

Dstahl: We discussed this opportunity when we were developing Season 7, however we decided that player interest in a Romulan faction is so high that we need to reserve these ships for a future update when we can implement a playable Romulan faction. So until then, these ships will be off limits to the Romulan Reputation System!

Dstahl: Yes we have and, in fact, we will be implementing a new type of gear for the May update that will use a socketing feature.

    friging andorain ship with 5 DHCs, GG, good luck tanking that. nothing was said about side weapons, that was specifically about more then 4 weapons in a certain direction

    5/4 would be bad, eh? Should I run 4 DHC or 3 DHC and a Torp? Ahhh, 4 DHC and a Torp!
    3/2/3 would be interesting.
    4/5 would be...lol.

    Technically, the question was:

    So it included options for 4+/4+ or more than just fore/aft. :)

    more like 5/2, unless an escort is going to have more weapons then a cruiser.

    a 5th DHC in the forward arc, ptfff, you don't need a torp, or a BO, ships cant tank firepower of that magnitude, its bad enough trying to tank 5 tac consoles. nothing OP previously released can compete with a 5th DHC, truly an i win button. thats 25% aditianal firepower every fireing cycle on top of any 4 DHC ship

    as far as only 4 weapons goes, that has to do with beam arrays. all ship models have 4 forward, and 4 aft beam array firing points. all of them, even the tier 2 connie. you can see them if you use the EPS transfer eng power. cannon hardpoints, theres just 1 set of them, up to 4 weapons fire from them already

    Im glad they hold the RSE ships back for the full faction. I hated the idea of a romie half faction tied to the KDF or feds. They deserve better.

    I hope they release more than just a single ship with 9 weapon points in all three factions.

    If they make a ship with 5 fore weapons slots it's going to need an insane amount of counter-balance to not be game wrecking.

    When has any of that kind of logic stopped them before....

    Don't worry we'll all be here in a few weeks with comparison threads to the fleet escort... and anyone that is flying one will be of the opinion that it is perfectly fine as is... and completely balanced. ;)

    Is it possible for Them to limit the number of DHC's that can be put on a ship?

    Perhaps it'll be limited to two or three DHC's up front...


    Or could They have added a new slot, that only fires in a 45*/90* arc to the port and starboard, depending on the weapon loaded?

    Or even a new weapon type that only fires in that same arc...??

    Gecko's said that they're not doing the broadside thing with the Kumari.

    It's possible that the Kumari's also not the ship that's breaking the 4/4 rule that Stahl's talking about...though, with no other ship really on the horizon (unless we get surprised in May) - it's pretty good speculation that it will be the Kumari.

    Like I said in one of the other threads (or was it this one? I'm so asleep) - is it possible that they might 5/3 or 5/4 it where that 5th is reserved for a QBB... cause if you watch In a Mirror, Darkly (Part 2) - it looks like the Kumari is firing what looks like a QBB, eh? Could the Particle Cannon be a QBB (in the way that the Cutting Beam is a Turret)...?

    I mean, we'll know next week - eh?

    By the way, anybody make it through the full hour and 9 minutes or so of the P1 supplemental with Gecko? I had to stop at around 20 minutes - then made it to about 29 minutes before stopping again... there's some pseudo interesting stuff about ships in the first 20ish minutes. No Jupiter/Typhoon...blowing off a bunch of ships folks have asked for saying they're just a small crowd...but mentioning things like a Jem Fighter, Janeway Shuttle, Fleet Dread, a "Regent"-like Fleet Negh'Var...more variants for KDF ships...Founders of the Federation...moving more toward original designs for Fed/KDF while continuing to add additional alien ships...etc, etc, etc...

    i just was listening to part 1 of the Al interview on priority1, and Al said at the end that the dominion and anniversary ships were the first he did not have a direct hand in stating. NO WONDER! they are very reasonable, and don't reinvent balance around them.

    i dont hate gecko, i think he is passionate about the game and wants it to be great, but the bug, and many other ships he has had a hand in, they are just balance eroding, so im happy if he doesn't have quite the hand in ships that he used too.

    he has done major damage to balance, but he is also largely responsible for creating the space combat in game, remember that. as long as he doesn't have a hand in anything related to ships, items abilities or balance, the game is safe, and well served by an enthusiastic treky, in more of a pve content way.

    A lot of people worked on space combat. For all we know he could be responsible for the bad parts -- It's probably pointless to speculate one way or the other. What we do know for certain is that every addition he has worked on since launch has had moderate to severe repercussions for PvP.

    I honestly do not know what to be more concerned about!

    The idea of 5 or 6 forward firing weapon ships being released and making obsolete everything else, this new "socketing" system they are talkign about, or the new character creator.

    I hope they are able to contain themselves and not make the socketing work like it does in CO, or worse, like it does in most asian grinders. In both cases upgrading the item you put into the "socket" is a whole grind unto itself, and can even fail and make you waste untold resources!

    Except for the Jem'hadar Attack ship. That will still be OP.. So nothing will really change.. Carry on. :P

    My speculation is: The ships that will come out with more than 5 weapon slots e.g. 5/4, 5/5 etc are going to be the ships acheived after the Level cap is increased. Until then we'll get the 4/4, 4/3, 3/3 etc...and all new shinys in the Z-store.
