Lets talk about some fun things. Like whatever. But fun. Not to heavy. Like the game design, the good things we may admire about it.
The more I look at the game system and the way things relate, I do really sorta admire what the developers did conceptually with ships movement vs firing arcs for various weapons and abilities.
They coulda just abstracted that, made a model, and called it a day. Instead they created a system that not only took (okay heads up, imma play fast and loose with the word skill ok? Don't freak out when I use it for both manual dexterity and learned practiced abilities this is a fun thread!) skillful manipulation of your ships movement as well as activating abilities, but you needed to know what the future would be like. You needed to be able to predict as far in the future as possible to place your ship where it needed to be with the abilites it needed to have to get the job done at that point in the future.
Much of that is still in place and working, and it really does shine. As players we really do enjoy a very very high level of control over so many aspects of our avatars. And here's a thought. You have SO MUCH control I bet you're not even using half of it. And I don't blame you ONE bit. Its a VERY high level. More than most games. For most games this would be to much. If your not sure look around, ask some friends. Okay make some friends and THEN ask them. Wake up Mom. Do whatever you have to.
If that fails I'll be your friend. Ask me!
But in the meantime, tell me! Tell us all! What fun facet of STO makes you think happy thoughts when you see it?

And this pilots is the reverse, once you master this very closely guarded secret maneuver you will be able to finally land those subnukes on escorts.
The fact that the potential depth of play in this game is quite easily capable of rivaling that of some of the best fighting games out there, while doing so in a Team versus Team environment. In Space. With Spaceships. All without being nearly as helter-skelter or guild oriented as, say, EVE at the highest end of play (talking more sheer manpower than the commodities available through guilds/fleets).

Ooooh... EM, AtD, EPtE and not just dropping EWP on somebody but painting them with it...
with bug ships having a volume as low as 27,444 and a galaxy having a volume of 5,820,983 m?, there certainly needs to be a sliding scale. the galaxy isnt even the biggest, the ody saucer is about the same size as a galaxy saucer, but maybe less thick, wile the secondary hull is quite a bit larger. i would guess the ody to be at least 7,000,000 m? in volume. then theres the carriers, those things are so thick, they could have a volume 4 times that of ether huge fed ships. the jem dread if it was the size it was when the valiant fought it, would be about 7 times larger then a galaxy class starship
well, here's the scale i sort of settled on. i took the volume number, starting at 30k, then multiplied it by 2. then i multiplied that number by 1.95. then that number by 1.9, and the next number by 1.85, etc
volume/inertia
>30,000/80
>60,000/75
>117,000/70
>222,300/65
>411,255/60
>740,259/55
>1,295,453/50
>2,202,270/45
>3,633,746/40
>5,813,994/35
>9,011,690/30
>13,517,536/25
>19,600,427/20
>27,440,599/15
>37,044,808/10
so for the ships on that site, they would have these inertia values
Akira-45
Ambassador-40
Constitution-60
Defiant-75/70
Excelsior-50
Galaxy-35/30
Intrepid-55
Miranda-65
Nebula-35

Sovereign-45/40
Steamrunner-55

S'krik: Captain Lymuv, Torpedoes incoming! Dead Astern!
Lymuv: No worries, those are Snog's. They'll detonate prematurely.
Red Shirt: Oh thank goodness for that! For a moment I thought I was a URGGKKACKKK!
S'krik: I'll have that cleaned up Captain.

Preeeeeesenting for the first time ever since the devs let him get at the protein shakes: Awkstoobawp or The Neat Florg or I'll Be Right Back With Sumthin For Ya or I Wanna Go Fast
TT, X, CRF, APO
PH, HE, Y
EPTS, A2B, Y
EPTE, A2B, Y
Leech, Neuts, whatevs

Energy Typex3 (derp)
Omega 3 piece probably, or 2 piece and a different shield.
Hookay, X can be APD, HYT, BO.
Y, you get to pick 2 out of the 3. DEM, VM, EWP, RSP, whatever. Swiss Army Knife. I would lean toward DEM with Marion paired with Tet Glider and RSP as an opener.
Cause why? Cause we're only down .02 shield mod and 6k hull from a Patrol Escort. Jevo-whatnow? Question: If 24k and .8 = Heavy BoP, what do you call 24,750 and .88?
Seriously, I don't know how to fly this, it's too fast. But I'm going to learn. And if I battlecloak I'm going to come back with something different for them in a LtC slot.
Awwww yeah, this one's for all the Creepers, the Power Spiral Sleepers, that's right Devs, you left the most powerful boff layout on a battlecloak capable ship that's only slightly behind non-fleet fedscorts in hull and shields but has the second best turn and second best inertia outside of shuttles. Hope your Andorian escort can keep up with your power creep. And if this post gets your attention, have the decency to address my sig. *drops mic*
CommanderDonatra@Capt.Sisko: ahhh is it supposed to do that?
Norvo Tigan@dontdrunkimshoot: hell ya, maybe
ah my fleet kam, boy is that fleet skin pretty on kdf cruisers. all my potential VM targets have all human boffs now! or sometimes they dont, and you can REALLY tell. i almost dont need a TB, i can use VM so often, and it kills engines so well. but its not quite as reliable as a sure hold. i have yet to get a solid feel for it yet. i ended up getting a fleet ambi too, for an AtB cruiser, its been an awesome tank, ive held off bugs and burned them down with it, its got just the right station setup for super shield defense. its glider damage with 3 flow consoles even with beam almost makes it feel like beams got that buff ive been wanting. if ES inst around, whoever im shooting at will have approximately 0 shields in 5-15 seconds

This and I set up a Failaxy X last week
EPTW1, Aux to Damp 1, EPTS3, Boarding Party 3
EPTW1, Aux to Damp 1, EPTS3
BO 1, Tac Team 2
BO 1
HE 1 , Transfer 2
4 phaser turrents, 4 dual beam banks, and of course, 2x RCS consoles, its awful but the 3rd nacelle is a little OP, I got the turn rate up to like 15 degrees!
CommanderDonatra@Capt.Sisko: ahhh is it supposed to do that?
Norvo Tigan@dontdrunkimshoot: hell ya, maybe
ouch, it hurts to look at lol.
I have it on one of my toons with bad passives that I just mess around in. I'm running 3x BFI doffs and 2x doffs for the tac team cool down. It is all for the lulz, and to help with my campaign for Pope.
BTW VOTE SPACE JESUS FOR POPE!
