Im sure everyone is by now aware of certain individuals zoning into the minefield STF and then doing nothing. They go afk through the whole match and get free marks. At 1st you only saw this every 3rd-4th match but now its become quite common to see it every match. Why anyone would get a game only to not play it is beyond me, it puts a capital L in lazy, but its time the Cryptic team come up with a fix for this.

    *yawn*

How exactly do you "fix" such an issue?

Also, let them AFK. You can solo the mission anyway, which ensures you 1st place and some very rare items.

If anything, I'm more annoyed by people not bothering to repair the facilities, instead camping at the boss spawn point.

You fix it by putting in a system that registers a players activity. If the player does not move, shoot and generally make himself useful the game registers it and boots him allowing someone else to come in.

Agreed. Although, I would just have the game give them a consolation prize that is 10% of the total Marks gained and add it to every event that is part of the PvE and PvP queue. If a person doesn't meet the activity threshold of an elite STF, then they get 6 Omega Marks compared to 60 and they miss out on the final reward.

Isnt the point to compete against each other for the good prizes in Minefield? so wouldnt it be better if there were AfK'ers in that particular mission? u know: less competition

I don't really mind this as its easier to get 1st place. Also I think they need to kill at least 1 thing or they won't get any dil.

    This.

I always seem to be the one having to do the scanning simply because no-one else can be bothered, and of course by the time I arrive I barely get a volley in before the boss goes down.

    Agreed, hate this!

They should have the 'boss' ship spawn in a minute after the last scan is made, at least it gives us some chance to make it over.

That mission is so easy that one player can do the entire thing on their own. I have never had the pleasure of encountering AFKers in that mission, but I would be very happy if I did. The mission has a chance to drop Very Rare Mk XII gear to the person who completes the most objectives/gets the most kills. If they want to sit out AFK, that's fine by me. It just means less competition for that gear.

I know on ground you have to kill (or at least take a shot) for it to register that you completed the mission. I beamed into a Big Dig that was in phase 2, with 8/12 artifacts already having forcefields around them, needing the plants. So I raced to get the plants with my Stealth Module on, actually got 3/4 of them then the boss popped - 15 seconds later boss was killed and I didn't get any rewards.

I can't speak for space, but ground certainly you need to at least take a shot i guess. I wasn't even given a fair shot at helping, even if I wasn't trying to get the plants.

And 3 others joined after me.

Repairing facilities counts for you towards first place ranking. Confirmed by dev (can;t place the post ATM, but definitely read it)

I appologize folks I meant to write Minetrap and somehow messed it up. I posted it 1st thing this morning while I was getting ready for work, I was in a hurry didnt catch the mistake. Anyway the AFK'ers really mess up the match by sabotaging the team efforts. I can usually cover 2 buildings by myself with my Klink toon but not all 4 and it makes it very difficult to escort the civvies to the extraction point when you're down 2 people because theyre AFK. You're usually down a person or 2 anyway because they leave their assigned area.

Ok folks this is what I initially intended as the title for my post and what I wished to discuss. Unfortunately I typed "Minefield" rather than "Minetrap", GaH! Anyway I learned I should never start a post first thing in the morning before at least having one cup of coffee.

There has been a big problem with folks zoning into the Minetrap map then going AFK for the entire match. And its getting to be more and more that are doing this making it difficult if not impossible to complete the mission parameters for the match. I don't know what can be done to curb this anti-social behavior but Cryptic needs to fix it.

Yes the Romulan Mine Trap mission seems to be the favorite mission for leechers. Usually their is at least 1 leecher in the mission but most of the time their are multiple leechers making it nearly impossible to save enough Romulans for the accolade. Also with some bulding being bugged that they cant be reinforced doesn't help either.

These people TRIBBLE me off!

There is one fleet also that seems to spawn in 2-3 in a group then run off to another zone.. every time... no matter what I say lol.

Had two of them in my group 2 days ago, along with one AFK guy that left his loading screen up.. so it looks like hes having problems.. that miraculously fix themselves 5 mins before the mission ends.

So yeah, it was me and one other guy. So I sat my klingon butt down and waited for the mission to end ( after trying to save the romulans/buildings with 1 guy) . I did inform the zone of the problem so they did not expect my area to accomplish anything.

Cryptic really needs to put in some sort of mechanic that makes you do something to earn the points.

I have to share the thing I learned to do to relieve frustration on the leeches. During the part where you tell the Rommies to go home wait for one of them to morph into a salt vampire then lead them over to the leech, they'll follow you like a faithful dog. Once by the leech wait for ole salty to confuse you then fire on the leech.

I buff up my tac Klingon then unleash hell, depending on how long the confuse lasts you can do a lot of dmg to the leech or kill them. I killed one leech 3 times, made them so mad they left the game. It won't make them stop but it sure feels good and relieves tension.

The one time where friendly fire in-game is both technically possible and justified.
