so listening to the show..

Ok, next season.. its more then a normal season.. it may actually qualify as an expansion.

I am holding my breath.. but I think it may just be possible that we're going to see the KDF faction blossom to a lot more then we currently have. He's being very close to the chest with these cards, but I've been listening to this guy yack for the last 3 years. and he really did drop some hints that say "K.D.F."

Given what the 'Reputation System' is - I don't get how they can be considering a Thlian one; as (if you follow the new Romulus story via the Romulan Rep cutscenes); the Tholians are such Xenophobes; I don't see why/how any non-crystiline lifeforms would trust them; or would believe what they say. Even as far as TOS goes, they weren't interested in contact; and if you go by comments made during the TNG TV series run, the Federation has/had gone to war with the Tholians a couple of times since the TOS era.

I'm not against new Reputation system additions per se; I'd just like them to have some consistency and make some sense in the overall STO storyline that (I assume) Cryptic is talking about getting back to and featuring a bit more in game - and not just get a Rep system added because some portion of the Dev team may think it's 'cool'.

    Just my two cents.

I really hope we do too. It would be nice to be able to enjoy the faction I prefer without losing out on a lot of story and general content.

Fingers crossed. This interview has given me a sliver of hope for the next season/expansion.

I see your point, but I suspect that the possible 'Tholian Reputation' that they are considering would be anything like the Romulan one form S7.
And seen how the Tholians wreak havoc in STO, I think it would be closer to the 'Omega Rep' where we would actuall fight them or prevent some devious plan of theirs through mission.

Tholian or anti tholian rep.. either would be interesting.. but I am suspecting actuall tholian rep on that one.. for would not the tholians possibly also find them selves at threat from the Demon of "air and darkness"? Tholians might not trust us organics, but I can think of a few they would trust even less..besides the borg (i do not even want to imagine assimilated Tholians...*shiver*)

More of interest for me though is some sort of a core faction rep which was mentioned , and possibly a rep system from doing foundry missions.

we'll have to just see where that goes in the long run.

I'll be watching for other comments on this thread.

    ............and while I'm at it.....

HEY, DANIEL. On the off chance your watching the forums (or someone is watching them for you.)

P.S. still wondering about that "grave injustice" tweet leak.. Could be a romulan thing I'm thinking, especially with Denise Crosby recently at Cryptic doing what has to be voice work for the Emperess Sela character. No cryptic spokeperson has ever reffered to the state of KDF as a grave injustice or even close, so a quick application of Occoms razor vis a vis some of the apparent little parculiarities in the Romulan story line, and recalling the last place we saw the Emperesses flag ship.... well. We'll just have to see.

    one can hope.

if they fill out the kdf in a semi decent way, then that also raises hopes that the romulans wont just be tacked on either.

im not going to get my hopes up and be disappointed but i do think the KDF will see some good love this year.

    Hello all,

Everything I'm about to write is purely speculative and I can be proven wrong at any point in time, so take it with a grain of salt....

The PC Gamer article released today (http://www.pcgamer.com/2013/01/30/star-trek-online-three-year-anniversary/) included a video marking the 3-year anniversary of STO. In the last few seconds, the video showed an emblem with a tagline that links to this page:

    http://sto.perfectworld.com/sto_may2013

The words read "March Underneath the Raptor's Wings".

So, here's where my speculation comes in: This smells strongly Romulan. Like, the smell is so strong that I thought the targ in the Toron shuttle had diarrhea again.

So IF this is a Romulan playable faction and IF it holds true that no Romulan playable faction will be made without a "complete level 1-50 KDF Faction", then MAYBE and I can't stress MAYBE strong enough... we MAYBE seeing some final KDF resolutions once and for all.

    Jeez, my head hurts.

    *head explodes*

damd allergies...romulans alway set them off *shiffle*

You know, i'd forgotten that little bit where several time Msr. Stahl has made it quite clear Rommy's after KDF done.

Which would definatly make the next season more then just a "season" which would be "OMG! THE most ambitious pile of content yet out of Cryptic."

On the other hand there has been zero hints of there being a Romulan faction at this time.
SO What I am suspecting is it is not a romulan faction but a resurgent Romulan empire under the emperess Sela (with some technology transfer from the "Demons of Air and Darkness" whom we last saw making Sela's aquaintaince.. by rescuing her)

What I actually think may happen is one utterly huge arc of missions in romulan space (some missions I hope that are "No Win, learn how to run you idiot!") award and a block of about 30-40 missions to fill out the KDF experience (more would be better..The recycled FE's that are currently used have to award more XP KDF side to close the gap. Not the best way to do things ya know.

Ahh well. Any who how.. a new ship for us all starting tomorrow. And I do recall something mentioned that it can be used as a skin. I want to wrap it around my fleet k't'tinga... for, as much as I do love the classic D-7/K't'inga hull form, I really would prefer a Battle cruiser thats 1. not so damd massive as the Vorcha and above, utterly agressive and dangerous looking. 3. Packs respectable capabilities and firepower.

In the Trek universe as Starship is a Starship, is a Starship. And any of them can lay waste to a planet. Utility is determined by the ability to lay waste to another starship!

It's really beginning to look like Season 8 will be do-or-die for Cryptic. With all these expectations and hopes riding on the hype they've spread it could either make this MMO great again or send it down the drain in tatters after the disappointed rage hits.

Not to dash KDF hopes -- but they've also said Season 8 would mark the return of the full fledged FE series format. It could be it's a teaser for a new Romulan based FE series (and remember the ramp ups to 'The 2800' FE series about one year ago.

Although I'm not a big Klingon fan (I do have a Level 50 Klingon character who has played the KDF content to date though); I DO think it's time for Cryptic/PWE tom STOP teasing KDF players with comments like "This will be a good update for the KDF...etc. With then Dev Team size still ramping up; said STO team going to a 6 day work week, etc -- IMO it's time for Cryptic to come clean and state unambiguously:

    - IF the KDF faction will get a separate tutorial and a complete Level 1 - 50 PvE experience/track.

    - The way future playable factions (if any - such as Romulan) will be implemented.

The constant vague --' oh, there's stuff for KDF too' line has got to go, replaced by a non-ambiguous answer. Either finish the KDF or let them know PVE track wise things are as good as they're going to get.

I'd still like to know why they put another faction in the game, with no intention of having equal content for said faction. Seems like a bit of an own goal if you ask me. Let's hope that is soon corrected, but I'm not going to get my hopes up just yet.

they have not said thier adding a new faction..

people are assuming with the "Under the wings of the raptor" image thats its another faction.

Its a new FE featuring the Romulans most like with the return of Sela

((Denise crosby is not going to spend a few days at cryptic and do voice interviews/adverts for just two lousy mission, even if it is the 3 anniversery shlock...with what they have to pay her you can bet your butt they're going to use her voice and get every last penny out of her time.))

we've heard from a number of Cryptic scources.. "No New Factions untill the KDF is finished"

we need a bit more untill we're.. finished/complete as a faction. and everytime they add stuff to the feds they create more they must add to the KDF. chill, relax.. our time is coming.

    I am also somewhat hopefull!

Another factor...I listened to a recent podcast that discussed Season 8 (just hints really) but one thing that Mr. Stahl said in that podcast was that they have almost reached saturation point for Federation ship types -- all of the ships they originally wanted in the game have been produced and put in...

But he also hinted that this was not the case for...well....us. Or at least that is how I interpreted it.

What does that mean for the KDF? Well...if they have reached saturation point with the Feds, then that means that they are going to have to create new classes and types of ships -- which means a rigorous approval process...whereas not all of the Klingon ships -- and some other races -- are not in game yet.

That is yet another hopefull factor for KDF...not saying it really means anything...but it could be a factor.

Yep, and the process for vetting non federation ships is quite a bit easier for them (which has been stated in the past).. for that matter, any ship that has never been in one of the series, or movies is much easier for them to put in game. Costume/clothing options are slightly more difficult, but theres still plenty of Klingon clothing options both male and female that have never been touched. Jadzia Dox wedding dress (and varients there off which qualify as Klingon "Formal" wear.. or looking back at ST-III "Search for Spock" marvelous and amazing outfit and we saw on a certain Klingon female spy.. (and how about that little itty bitty civilian frieghter? Why haven't we seen that yet?) then there was Klingon cloathing in both "Enterprise" and Voyager that has yet to be seen in game.

There is plenty of room yet to develop the KDF shinies. I listened to that Interview ZTempest.. Stahl did indeed admit that the Fed side is pretty saturated, and more then nuff canon KDF goodies to keep the Cryptic art dept busy for a year of so. And there is still more variation availible for fed off duty wear.

Still, KDF faction doesn't differentiate as muich as the Federation does between unifrom, and civilian wear. That has to do with the nature of Klingon society though.

Ah well, hurry up and wait.. I should be used to it by now, but I'm not.

The feds are valued as a monterary resource. We KDF fans have blatantly been told this and have our fandom devalued accordingly due to thier narrow vision.
