Ship for Tac in STFs?

I recently got rid of my Klink engi and got a new KDF Tac captain (I had no zen for more character slots, and I have never spent money on an online game, nor do I wish to start).

With my new tac, I got me a BoP and I'm loving it. However, I realize it does have a low hull value, and I am afraid that it wouldn't be the best ship for STFs. Thus, I am looking for a new ship to use in STFs. WHat do you guys recommend?

I can grind dilithium, so any regular or zen store ships are easily obtainable. I can get enough EC to get one of the mirror ships as well. Fleet ships (up to T3 shipyard) are no issue either. So, what would be the best ship for a tac captain for STFs?

    Easy / Cheap:
    Qin
    Mirror Qin

    C-store
    Guramba
    Kar'fi

    Fleet
    Fleet Vor'cha

I'd grab a Mirror Qin for now, it has a great BOFF layout and is a solid ship overall and can be had on the exchange relatively cheaply (all things considered).

If you feel later on you want something that is also an Escort-styel with a bit more survivability, Grab the Guramba (it also has a better pivot point).

If you want something that is a hybrid tank/damage dealer, Grab the Fleet Vor'cha.

If you want a really different, but unique and fun ship try out the Kar'fi.

What BoP are you referring to the starter ship if so wait a few lvls if not if this is the B'rel the strenght is fine just get to know to use it.the ship for a Kdf tac is a Raptor.

Another voice for the Mirror Qin / Fleet Vorcha chorus. Mirror Qin is basically a Patrol Escort with a cloak and is about as reliable and straightforward as it gets. A Fleet Vorcha with the right setup is an ungodly horror show with 90% of an escort's punch plus 90% of a cruiser's durability, and is a heck of a lot of fun to fly.

I use my B'rel Retrofit torpedo boat for Elite STFs, and I do fine and put out a good amount of damage.

I can take out cubes on my own and we still get the objective.

It really shines in Hive Onslaught, because you never have to worry about FBP from the Unimatrixes and the Diamond.

I'm saving up for a Fleet Vorcha for my KDF tac.

I have 2 other KDF engineer toons, one has a Vorcha retrofit, the other has a Mirror Vorcha. all of them are excellent battle wagons despite lacking tac slots. I use the Vor'kang skin on both of them with the vorcha saucer and its one of the best looking ships in the game. Yes fun to fly as well.

The Mirror Quin Raptor is awesome too. :D

My top choice is the Tor'kaht. Best balance between tank and gank you can get.

Next in line is the Kar'fi/VoQ. Excellent ship for Hive. More tank and usually less gank than Tor'kaht. Slavers will make you rich.

B'rel R. While it may not provide the best DPS, it's burst with a bomber fitting is enough to pop most cubes. Hegh'Ta as budget solution.

While mirror Qin is less TRIBBLE than standard Qin, I wouldn't consider it a good choice. It is the low budget solution, with best bang for the buck.

Fleet Somraw, Fleet Scourge, Fleet Corsair and Guramba are further, more exotic options.

My KDF tac loves her Bortasqu', Kar'fi, Mirror Qin, and the Chel Grett.

Mirror Qin and the Chell Grett if you have it are the more "standard" options. They fly like escorts. Go fast, use DHC/turrets, hurt things. Both are nice, I give the edge to the Chel, but the Qin is more maneuverable.

Bortasqu' is a total beast, but she isn't for everybody. She barely moves better then a Vo'Quv, but once you learn how to handle big ships I've found no more fun cruiser. She is like the Dreadnought Cruiser on steroids and taking graduate classes in pain. A totally different playstyle, and an expensive option, but worth it if you know how to fly one.

Kar'fi is a PvE powerhouse. You will always have another option. You get the entire KDF fighter force to choose from, and some of those pets are amazing. Interceptors? Slavers? Fer'Jai? Oh my! Commander sci slot can stack with a tac's captain abilities to do some crazy things to the power of a grav well or TBR. She has an escorts weapon layout, a significant amount of tactical abilities, and a turn rate that makes all the other full carriers jealous. She also looks amazing. I love cruising around with a full complement of S'Kuls, with our red engine exhaust trailing... I like her better then the Vo'Quv, even tho some people say the Vo'Quv with BoP bets beats it out... maybe it does for the sci's but I prefer the Kar'fi on my tac.
I once again match my character. Behold the power of PINK!

I am going to say this, taking a BoP into a STF is a risk for two reasons.

First, you gain nothing because STFs favor DPS and a BoP battlecloak is about as useful as a cloak, you use it for the initial Alpha but if you disengage and cloak you might as well just disengage since Borg ships take a long time to catch up with you.

Also you do less DPS that a escort due to the 4/2 layout.

Second, on Elite the Borg hit HARD and true enough escorts can be oneshooted (even cruisers) but BoPs have really problems because they pay for their battlecloak with their hull and shield modifier so there is definitely some serious drawbacks because how STFs favor DPS and sustainable DPS at that because of of the massive inflated hulls on pretty much every ship in there.

So you might as well get a battlecruiser to do then, the advice on the Qin is because ... well its cheap really and its a escort, it have more hull, more weapons and a cloak as the Fleet Vorcha is pretty much the best KDF battlecruiser and its not as if STFs have fast moving targets either, the most maneuverable ship is the Borg Assimilated Raptor that will only go after you in Cure in some specific situations.

I have no problems doing either STFs as my B'rel BoP has got 2 DHC didrupter and 2 turrets1 photon and harphang toprpedo.I do this my kdf engineer.I don't find I have problems but when in an elite I get I get hit.I use it for fun in normals and use my BCH in elites.
