We've added a new screenshot to the screenshot gallery. The Kamarag class was first designed in the mid-24th century, but only a few prototype vessels were built.
pro- its another smallish kdf cruiser, that means its going to be AWESOME fun to fly! 9-11 turn rate, maybe a LTC tac, DHCs, CANT WAIT!
con- OMFG its an extremely lazy mishmash of ktinga and vorcha parts by the looks of it. it must be a proto vorcha? the klingon's answer to the ambassador back in the day?
though it basically just looks like you enabled costume part swapping between the 2 ships, im glad there is finally a true intermediate step between the 2 ship, something like this should have been the tier 3 cruiser all among, the ancient ktinga should have been the kdf tier 1 ship
oh well, the range of stats it WILL have, and the likeliness that it will have a LTC tac make me very excited for it!
From all things I could imagine this is what I least expected. So KDF gets a cruiser. Again.
I'd love the KDF to comission a new line of science vessels. It could have a release event with the kdf version of utopia planitia as a ground map to visit.
"Critics who say that the optimistic utopia Star Trek depicted is now outmoded forget the cultural context that gave birth to it: Star Trek was not a manifestation of optimism when optimism was easy. Star Trek declared a hope for a future that nobody stuck in the present could believe in. For all our struggles today, we haven’t outgrown the need for stories like Star Trek. We need tales of optimism, of heroes, of courage and goodness now as much as we’ve ever needed them." -Thomas Marrone
It's the aesthetic twin to the Ambassador class - hints of the TNG era with a throwback to the TOS Movies. Personally I'm pretty impressed with how well they've carried out that design style.

I think you are wrong ... I think we will see the Ambassador be a sci version of an excelsior with this ship being a mirror of that.
Interesting. Since the Ambassador was a halfway point between the Excelsior and the Galaxy, it makes sense for the Klingon counterpart to be halfway between the K'tinga and the Vor'cha. Looking forward to a test flight.
As we already have a tac heavy cruiser with an commander engineer slot I don't think this will be another ship with this layout. However, a tac heavy cruiser with a SCIENCE commander would be nice
everyone thinks that. and im not talking about the ambassador, im talking about the kdf cruiser. that this thread is about.
And so am I. .... Mark my words, this ship will mirror the Fed's Ambassador in Bridge Officer layout .... that points towards a possible sci heavy cruiser.
I'd love to see her mirror the Excel's bridge officer layout, however .... we do lack sci heavier ships. (and we already have the fleet vor'cha at end game ... LOVE that ship just like I love the fleet K'Tinga.)
Nicee...an old school Vor'cha. I'm liking it. You've just made my day
I like it how you manage to make all KDF ships look really cool in the game. Thumbs up for this!

Seeing how the feds got our carriers.. i dont see why not

These were my initial thoughts as well. So Kamarag-class is contemporary to the Ambassador-class for the period between TOS films and TNG television. What the novel writers often call The Lost Era.

Don't mistake me for a FED. :P
i think cryptic intends sci heavy kdf cruisers to come from the orians. i doubt an actual klingon cruiser will have more sci then tac. mirror vorcha is a bit of an exception, but it still had 3 tac consoles. very tac heavy for something with slightly more sci then tac.
The fact that it looks like a D7 mated with a Vorcha makes me very very happy. I only hope its bridge officer line up is able to match my predicted Ambassador line up. PLEASE DEVS. I WILL BEG ALWAYS. love you.

But that would assume that klingon ship designers would work in a similar way to FED ship designers, using the current model then altering it slighty? (just thinking :P)

The "Enterprise" line has always been cruisers. from the Connies up to Sovereigns they all fall on the Cruiser side. Not sure how Tact/sci leaning they are as I haven't looked at the stats recently, but I am guessing not.
That said, I have no problem with the Kamarag being the KDF's answer to the Ambassador, thus more of a Cruiser. Yes, Klingon need more science ships, but lets be honest with ourselves, this was never going to be the solution for that.

If it's sci heavy, it might explain this quote ... "The Kamarag class was first designed in the mid-24th century, but only a few prototype vessels were built."

Does this mean we'll finally get to mix & match the Various K'tinga & D7 model parts?(CapnLogan was working on this before he left)

But the name, I don't dig. Kamarag? Reminds me of the battlecry the Lost Boys said in the movie Hook.

Also ... adding the following for where the name comes from ... this is from Memory Alpha ... "Colonel Kamarag was the Klingon Ambassador to the United Federation of Planets in the late 23rd century. "
