What is with the transwarp conduits? They can one-shot an Odyssey class at 100% hull integrity. I've even been destroyed with my shields still at full strength. I have 2 plasma resistance hull platings and one plasma resistance armour and the full MACO set. That is 106 Plasma resistance and they still one shot me. What's the deal?

I'm a science captain and when it buffs its beam overload I use subnucleonic beam to debuff that Beam Overload, it will save me from that beam overload, but with subnucleonic beam having a 2min cooldown I will not be able to debuff the next one.
The Beam Overload is overpowered but in an Elite STF, if there is nothing able to actually kill you then Elite STF's would be just a Normal STF with harder mobs.
The High Yield Plasma Torpedos took a nerf because players thought they where Overpowerd... but you could shoot them down there isn't really an excuse unless you where too close to the borg cube to not avoid it.
The Beam Overload is in my own opinion the only true CANON skill the borg actually use.
any Star Trek Episode and film which has a borg cube, you'll notice a Borg Beam array just wipes out starships just cuts them in half.
subnucleonic beam is a counter to its beam overload.
team work ... works.

I agree there should be real risks, but in good game design there always, always has to be counter play that can circumvent those attacks. If they one-shot a player from full shields and full HP, it's just wrong. Randomly dying is not challenge, it's plain cheap. A subnucleonic beam can counter it every two minutes, but not everyone is playing a Sci captain and as you said the cooldown is too long to dispell the beams reliably.
Cryptic needs to fix those.
What are you talking about? The Enterprise and the Defiant took several hits from a Cube at point blank range and survived. The reason they could one shot ships at Wolf 359 was they had the frequencies to the shields and could just shoot through them.
add to the fact that at Wolf 359 the only prior experience that the Federation had with the Borg was that one encounter that Q gave to the Enterprise what was it, a season earlier? And that was hardly a fair experience. It was likely enough of an encounter for the Borg to get a full systems spec on the entire federation up till that point, and there was no way that the Federation had enough time to build up countermeasures for Wolf 359 in the short time that it took the Borg to arrive.
I can completely agree with you, yes ofcourse it isn't challenging and ofcourse its cheap, in my opinion the Borg should be able to wipe us out with overpowered weapons.
I also agree that not everyone plays science.
Subnucleonic beam is an awesome Science Captain skill but similar to other Captain Skills Attack Pattern Alpha and Miracle Worker etc, like what you said, not everyone is a Science Captain to use subnucleonic beam but same to you not everyone is a Tactical Captain and an Engineering Captain. like PvP if you use team work the outcome will generally favor you, in PvE Team Play is a guaranteed Win.
you could be in KASE and DPS'ing the Gate, *beam overload pops up* The Science Captain should just subnuc it, saves a death and may give you enough time to kill the gate before buffing another.

You mean like how they wiped out the Defiant? Oh wait, they didn't do that. Or the Enterprise. Both the D and the E tangled with Cubes and lived. And Voyager fought Tactical Cubes. If anything should one shot, it's a Tactical Cube. Wolf 359 was a fluke. They got lucky and assimilated a Starship Captain. In every other battle, their weapons were not as effective as they were at Wolf 359. If an Intrepid class long rang science vessel can fight a Tactical Cube and survive, then an Odyssey class dreadnought should be able to withstand a Transwarp Gateway. And don't start in on "Odyssey is not a dreadnought"thing. Read the non playable section of the Wiki. Starfleet has three dreadnought classes: Jupiter (sucks) Galaxy Refit (better) and Odyssey (awesome).
The gates are over powered for a few reasons
-They critical hit still, they weren't supposed to but they do.
-Their standard plasma torpedoes are so strong they will rip through a buffed shield and knock the hull down to almost nothing, a follow up hit kills you. Slightly degraded shields and a torpedo hit kills you.
-All their attacks are very strong, a combination of a beam overload with a few other hits can "one hit" you quite often. These hits very often seem to hit 3 or more within a second, there is no defence, you just die.
The only thing worse than the gates are the queen's torpedo attacks in Hive Onslaught, that thing can one hit kill anything but a dedicated tank every 15s some times. There seems to be some randomness in what abilities the queen can use, and when luck fails and it gets a bunch of different torpedo attacks you'll find each person dying 10+ times.

And they keep using that stupid invisible attack. You just blow up for no apparent reason. I am going through components like crazy because the conduits keep killing me.
I know exactly what you're saying, but you also have to take into account that the borg in STO are highly more superior than the borg of TV series and films.
you only have to play the tutorial to notice two NPC's scanning a dead borg to see that the borg we're fighting are newer and more advanced.
I won't comment on the Odyssey not being a dreadnaught, but what I will say is my secondary focus on posting is that STF's are team based, to PUG into an STF usually ends up in rage posts about how they failed the optional and a demand for the ability to kick players.
The usual reply from those who reply are "find a team and private match" <- I know this doesn't resolve the issue of the one shot beam from transwarp gates, but it does give you a bigger chance to fulfil the STF. to be within a team and to have a plan for the STF can result in a science Captain using a subnucleonic duty officer, that reduces the cooldown to be able to sub the beam overload anytime that it pops up.
there are solutions to resolve many issues, a nerf isn't always the answer. as a science officer I've felt the worst of what a nerf can do.

Nice reply, but team tactics which I use do not result in you not blowing up randomly from some invisible attack by a Transwarp Conduit. No matter how many players are attacking a conduit at a given time, you will go BOOM at some point. And you have a better understanding of the Borg than they did at Wolf 359. The MACO, Omega and Honour Guard sets are all derived by reverse engineering Borg technology. If you understand the Borg well enough to make new equipment out of their wreckage, you should be able to withstand a hit from a Transwarp Conduit. And the Assimilated Set is terrible. If you can modify your ships with Borg weapons and equipment, then you should be able to adapt your equipment like the Borg do. It's the same damn equipment!
We've already told you how to avoid getting killed by the gate. Stay at maximum range and it CAN NOT HIT YOU. It will target you and you will take no damage. Think of it as an idiot check. Similar to "dont stand in the fire" phases in WoW. Honestly i have a harder time with the tac cubes than the gates. Have to keep doing hit and runs in an Odyssey to stay alive...probably would help if i set my boff powers to be a bit more defensive but meh.

Team tactics is more than just focus firing on a target, it includes things like cross healing your teammates getting all the aggro too. The extra heals will usually keep the aggro holder alive and them staying alive and continuing to hold aggro keeps everyone else alive.
TRIBBLE | -Show Me Your Critz-
Svarog | Veles | et al.
So it's basically get into maximum firing range, kill the engines, and just broadside the TRIBBLE until it's gone. Turn so you can use all weapons and remain stationary at the maximum possible weapons range. Does that about cover it?
They had plot armor and shields, and that's OP enough.
Star Trek mechanics on the TV shows don't work well in a video game, we have different physics then they do...also a Odyssey can take the beating, it just needs to be equipped that way.
Pretty much.
Let the stupid suffer
Gateway is so OP, it has no shields
Um, no they didn't. Enterprise D and E were just in their standard configurations and had no idea they would be fighting the Borg. Moreso with the D because they had never heard of the Borg before Q threw them in against a Cube. The E was on it's shakedown cruise and had no special weapons or armor. And Voyager only had armor for the final episode. No special shields or armor fighting the Tactical Cube. Why do you think the Doctor asked if they could try something easier like a sphere?
This is always the reason I die. I can pop all my defensive abilities, buffs, heals, etc. and fly out of the gate's range. Then, out of nowhere, I suddenly blow up. No visibly incoming fire, just my ship exploding. It acts like a torpedo tracking its target, so I have to assume Cryptic "gave" it invisible torpedos.
Now, I know it's actually a bug that said torpedos are invisible, but it should literally be PRIORITY #1 to fix that bug. Dying is fine, as long as you know what killed you and you have a chance to defend against it. Dying with no warning or ability to react is the worst kind of death to force upon a player. It generates frustration. Frustrated players don't stick around.
My character Tsin'xing
Why would you ever want to watch death pee? Klingons are weird.
Clearly you missed the joke...
Plot shield as in...hey we are the stars of the show, and we can't die which is why in DS9 every ship blew up except the defiant, till the stars got off of course....or every shuttle and Runabout magically has great shields when the stars on them.:D
Because the writers decided that our heros needed a challenge, and since they are the heros, they can't go off dying now can they.
The Enterprise D surviving the Borg is because they were the center of the show. It would be a very short show if our heros died halfway through it.
QFT.
You can't go by the shows or First Contact to determine who can one shot what or survive being one shoted.
9 times out of 10, if the ship is integral to the show or has a major character on it, it can take an absurd amount of damage from anything and dish out a disproportionate amount of damage.

Sisko'a plot armor is not absolute though I mean he got owned by the Breen's energy dampener
Every now and then, you need the audience to feel like the situation is hopeless. However, the super hero ship plot armor lasted long enough for all of the main cast to conviently escape in super hero escape pods that somehow weren't affected by the energy drain.
