No offence to those Ambassador advocates, but i really think that ship design is "not exciting" and "boring" and i am really hoping that the anniversary ship is not the Ambassador.
Galaxy is a much prettier ship and a more capable ship... why would we go backwards to an Enterprise-C? Moreover, it will be weird to have an Ambassador at T5 and a Galaxy class at T3.
Give us any ship at the same era as the Galaxy or beyond (there're still so many options - New Orleans, Niagara, etc), make Ambassador class a C-store ship for the fans, but give us nicer ship for the anniversary event.
It's pretty obvious that the Ambassador will be the Anniversary ship, but I still agree with OP... it's kind of a disappointment.
Don't get me wrong! The screenshot of the Ambassador looks amazing, and the ship artist responsible did a great job putting it together. But it's still just an Ambassador, after all, and barring a really exemplary Boff and Console layout, the ship will probably not see that much use. The majority of response to the Ambassador (that I've seen) has looked something like Ozy's post there, with people just wanting to complete their Enterprise collections rather than actually have the ship to fly.
I'd rather have seen them create a special Escort to go up with the Odyssey (cruiser) and Vesta (science) three packs.
I'm very happy for the anniversary ship to be the Ambassador, as it was the last "big request" in terms of ships that Cryptic hadn't filled. The next highest one on the list: the Andorian battle cruiser, is a few months away at most.
I'm looking forward to the Ambassador personally. I once wondered and put out an idea that the Ambassador would be the roughly sci-equal to the T-3 and T-5 Excelsior. It appears I was right about the tier part at least.
That said, what do you want the 3rd year ship to be? Like, what one specifically?
I remain empathetic to the concerns of my community, but do me a favor and lay off the god damn name calling and petty remarks. It will get you nowhere.
I must admit, respect points to Trendy for laying down the law like that.
Um, its the last of the Enterprise ships to be put ingame, and it just so happens that Denise Crosby did some voice over work. Id bet it will indeed be the Ambassador, and I cannot wait

well, the Ambassador should be better than the Excelsior, since it is larger and newer than the Excelsior by 40 to 50 years. Tier 3.9 or something since the Excelsior is Tier 3.5

in your opinion. personally, as someone who's been watching Star Trek first run since 1969 - I've felt the Galaxy class was one of the ugliest ship designs in Star Trek since I first saw in in 1987.
Also, with your talk of 'going forward' - by that logic, why would you introduce a ship whose design (and I'm talking the Galaxy Class) is now itself 50 years old? So, why would they go back to the Enterprise - D when we have an F?

There is one T-4 galaxy and three T-5 galaxies.
I am not sure why it would be so "weird". The Excelsior is a much older ship than the Ambassador and is a T-5 ship and one of the best cruisers in the game. You also have a lot of very underpowered ships in terms of canon available at endgame and able to hold their own.
And the Ambassador might only be 30-40 years older than the Galaxy, so it certainly should be able to hold its own better than a lot of the ships in the game.
You are getting something for free that Trek fans have wanted for a long time. I suspect it will only be a T-5 ship, and we might even get lucky and get the same one that will later be sold in the c-store to those who miss the promotion.
I wonder how the team at Daystrom institue is doing at figuring out how we've been at this for 3 years and it is STILL 2409.......
Comic Book Time Dilation, exactly the same thing that meant that Peter Parker spent 40 years in College and Bruce Wayne has been the on and off head of Wayne Enterprises for nearly 80 years.

It's just a fictional thing just like in any other MMO.
It's the same penomenon we've seen in M.A.S.H., which lasted 11 seasons while the Korean War only did 3.
"Hogan's Heroes", which was 6 seasons long even though in RL there were no American POWs until 1944 is another example.
I'm looking forward to the final Enterprise, but other options may not be that bad.
1. a 3 pack defiant class ship pack with a bridge officer set up containing more non tactical slots.
2. Denise Crosby voicing an exclusive new character..... Tasha Yar from the Mirror universe!
3. Make the locations in the Sol system permanent locations where ships can be upgraded and or stored. Think along the lines of a ship retirement museum for your own characters on your account, all the ships you have on that faction in orbit around say Venus for you to look at and interact with.
If its the Ambassador. I will be looking forward to using it. It won't sit idle in the ship selection or dock like the others I can't use. Due to they are too weak/low levels. I won't mind seeing it a T5. We have the Excelsior, Galaxy, and others that was a lower level now at T5.
I know I will make very good use out of her.

People were hoping it was the K'Vort, but from the Ask Cryptic it appears to be a new Klingon ship.
Well, it is not going to be an entirely new ship. Supposedly, it will be a unique design with canon references, specifically to a design influenced by a team chaired by Ambassador Worf and one of his close El-Aurian consorts.
Here is an early working model of the ship design that Cryptic made reference to in an Engineering report from years ago.

The Ambassador would be Tier 3 and 5 where the Galaxy is Tier 4 and 5.

Of all the endgame ships, the only one I can think of that does not have a 25th century version is the Excelsior.
Although, that costume might be a c-store unlock.

It will probably be the GIANT BoP that was seen in a few episodes of TNG.
Way I read and understood it. It will be a total new ship from ground up. At least what I think.

So, single cannons only here, I'm guessing?
Well, that will surely relieve one type of problem.
