I don't know if this is implemented in game or not but its something i thought of that would kinda make sense.
So i wondered why does star fleet use phasers, why do Klingons use disrupters, why do the dominion use polaron and why do the tholians use........ Well what ever it is they use!!
And the best answer I came up with is because they have found a way improve and perfect that technology to a point where other factions have failed to get much out of it.
So therefore I think that if you have a fed ship using phasers you should get a small + to weapons, same as if your a Klingon using disrupters or a dominion using polaron.
Not sure this would work on the ground due to limited playable factions. but for ships it kinda makes sense that you should get a small weapon bonus for using the weapons commonly associated by ship that you are commanding.

I absolutely agree. In fact it seems like a no brainer, I don't know why we haven't had this since the beginning.
