Inventory, Bank Account, Cargo Bay - Data Samples & Commodities

crow1980crow1980 Member Posts: 0 Arc User
Why does "Data Samples" & "Commodities" items get stored in players usable storage space such as "Bank Accounts" & "Inventory"?

Seems odd when all you need to know is if you have enough or not, it might as well be stored & listed in the "Cargo Bay" where it belongs, preferbly in 1000+ stacks.

For the those that may be asking, yes we have a "Cargo Bay" which is by the way listed under the "Duty Officer" tab down the bottom left hand side, it seems rather a waste not to use it, does it not. :D

Why not add the "Cargo Bay" tab to the "Inventory & Assets" window and let us store and handle the "Data Samples" & "Commodities" from there as to let us have more free slots for proper gear, pets & consumables in our "Bank Account" and "Inventory", another good sideeffect of this would be a neater looking storage where you do not have to dock up to check your "_ Particle Trace" or "Radiation Sample" count because they are always with you.

Sounds like a very good idea as I had to spend 1 hour to go through my inventory just to make some space for loot.

Unless it has a Cpoint price-tag, cant see it happening :p

Don't you mean Zen cost? Cpoint are obselete aren't they?

Any way I'd like to see this happen, would make a LOT more room in your bank and inventory

Or they could, you know, just let us buy more than 4 inventory/bank space upgrades.

I guess they could, but that will not make the storage space you allready have more organized now will it...

With the account wide bank slots, I just usually dump a lot of my stuff to my other toons.

One of my secondary toons is a major trader and marauder, and this has really increased his profits when it comes to trading the stuff I don't need from my main toon while transferring EC and reputation required commodities to my main toon.

And for some reason, I like to keep a lot of food in my bank, so my other secondary toon has like 20 food item in her bank.

I can understand why you'd say that, but when it comes down to it I think people would fill their bank anyway, as I know there have been several item sets I would have liked to hold on to just in case; and I'm working on some weapons for PvP (since I run Plasma for PvE, but most players are resistant to that), but I won't have any space for that.

So there are plenty of ways for people to fill their bank regardless, and thus still be encouraged to buy more bank slots. Currently however Cryptic have been adding more and more things that need to be stored, things like romulan radiation samples, research, epohh tags, epohh research, lockboxes, lobi crystals and so-on. So there's more than enough of that to waste our bank space as it is; ditching samples into your cargo bay (automatically as well I hope, so no need to shuffle out of inventory).

If we don't get to free up our bank slots, at the very least we need the ability to have samples, traces and commodities automatically transfer into our bank if there is already a stack there and it has enough room for the new items. Constantly running back to the bank or calling for the Azura so I can transfer stuff is not fun in the slightest. It also annoys me that many things that consume traces and commodities will do so from your bank first, meaning if you had the item(s) in inventory you're still stuck having to make the trip to the bank to offload them. It's especially annoying when your bank is apparently on your ship anyway, yet you have to fly to a space-dock to move all the weapons and radiation from your pockets to your own cargo hold?

Computer Core for Data Samples and Traces would be cool.

So you would have 2 inventories: Data Inventory (Computer) and Physical Inventory (Cargo Bay)

Or since data can be transmitted, it is all stored for all your chars at the Starbase.

In "Gravity Well 2" you can right click an item from anywhere and "store it". If you could right click every data sample/trace and "transmit" it to a central storage, that would be neat.

They should sell us an extra page of "inventory" purely for collectable/commodities. One page for just Data Samples, Commodities, odd "collect X to turn in" items. That would be awesome, especially if they did it for vanity pets too.

Quality of life improvements, allocater's suggestion about depositing them from anywhere is done by GW2, and GW2 has brilliantly handled inventory. I'd be willing to shell out 500 Zen for it.

I think this would be a great idea as part of the crafting revamp -- a cargo bay that shows how many data samples, particle traces, and commodities you have. I had previously advocated special slots for pets, but anything to add a little more room to inventory/bank is always good.

/signed. A "computer core" or other separate inventory page for things like data samples, particle traces, and other crafting or mission-related objects would be great. That's been on my wishlist for the game since beta.

I mean, really, it's not very logical for a data sample to take up as much space as a navigational deflector... then again, very few inventory systems are logical and functional at the same time.

I'd love if this could be tied in with a crafting overhaul.

Simple Solution: Do what Guild Wars 2 does.

You collect items in your normal inventory as it works currently but they have a simple sort option that removes all collectibles from your inventory into a collectible only tab.

Result: With a simple click all those samples no longer become a pain in the deflector dish.

Personnally, I would further amplify that by including consumables not to mention another increase in the stack sizes when in the cargo bay.

This is becoming almost a mandatory feature due to the amount of utter garbage STO is increasingly dropping that you have to collect on top of the loot.
