William Ware Theiss did some designs that went unused in TNG:

Generations used new designs for several days of filming until they decided it would be too expensive to outfit everyone with these uniforms. Geordi's jacket was in the background when Soran was torturing him and it did make it into merchandise, including the action figures:

Ralph "Star Wars" McQuarrie re-designed the Enterprise for a planned movie and his work popped up onscreen a few times:

Star Trek: Phase II boasted a different ship interior:

I think it would be interesting if Cryptic focused some of its resources on these kinds of things. I realize they're not always the most popular but it's also probably pretty unwise for the longterm sustainability of STO as a business to rush to include every popular thing because it leaves Cryptic with no longterm options. Delaying popular things and staggering in both new/original designs and perhaps some unused classical designs strikes me as the winning strategy for longevity... And helps set STO apart by perhaps being the first place that some of these designs could be realized.

The question is if they do have to pay to license it.
The McQuarrie stuff and the Generations uniforms are probably pretty squarely CBS property since the latter turned up onscreen and the latter turned up in DVD extras and merchandise. The Theiss designs and Phase II interiors? Hard to say without asking CBS but being unused doesn't necessarily mean that the artists own it.
I think it would be pretty cool of Cryptic to ask CBS.
Except he designed that before he designed the Star Destroyer. So the Star Destroyer is his Enterprise design minus saucer and nacelles.
It just has a look that would be jarring if it were common.
I really want a Tuvix uniform now.

I think you're really underestimating them. There are many ways to make the revenue stable on the long term: lockboxes, a skill cap increase (the admiral rank will force everyone to buy new ships again), starbase holdings, and then more factions. With at least 7-8 possible factions the game could last at least 10 years. Don't worry, they're safe.

Three requests come to mind: the TNG S1-2 skant, Worf's Baldric from TNG S3-7/DS9, and a female version of the TOS command tunic. http://www.st-spike.org/images/uniforms/noncanon/uniforms_4.gif
That could make a basis for a good version of the Vo'Duv, if we didn't already the atrox.
Ditto. It's a shame we can't get it!

I wish they'd been used, the nearest I can get is the AGT uniform with black on the shoulders although it lacks the stand up collar.

Captain Gregory MacCray - USS Geronimo
I swear if Cryptic does that, I'm leaving the game.

Come on, do you really think that with 10 more levels we won't get new ships? It doesn't mean you'll be forced to buy a new one, but the current VA ships should be the equivalent of the current RA one. It's a too good buisness opportunity to miss that. They will do it. With a discount maybe not to make everyone run away from the game but trust me it'll happen. :P

Well if the new ships remain Tier 5, that's one thing. But if they make they make the new ships Tier 6... well then that's another story.

It's been said that we'd get battleships eventually, which means it could be T6 ships. Most of the iconic designs have been done, and sold. T6 is the only way to sell them again.

They already double-dipped on a lot of players that bought Fleet variants of RA/VA ships they already owned (C-Store ships, no less). I, for one, already feel a little fleeced after buying a Fleet Defiant-R when I already owned the C-Store Defiant-R, even if I did use Dilithium and EC to purchase the modules. If they ask me to upgrade again to a T6 Defiant, and then throw T6 Fleet variants at us out of no where a few months after that... I'd probably call it quits, too.

Your last three links bring up a page that says I am forbidden to access them. If you can put the images on a fileshare site like Photobucket, please do.
They make a wondrous mess of things. Brave amateurs, they do their part.

I have also used a slight variant, with the shoulders and cummerbund black, and the torso grey. This version though is more reminiscent of the Dominion War uniforms, which I always liked.

If it happens (if) it won't be before late 2013 or so iirc. 500 zen a year to play this game is a fair deal imo.

Apparently, Cryptic at one stage had 3D concept art of it (http://crypticstudios.com/startrek), but for some reason never went ahead with it.
The closest in-game equivalent is the Sierra 1 design, which has that nasty thin strip of plasticky accent between the departmental colors and the base.
