archofwinterarchofwinter Member Posts: 215 Arc User
I am a Computer Science and Digital Art student and is trying to plan out my future.

I have still have a year till graduation, but I am trying to get into the industry.
How do one take steps in becoming a developer for STO?

Hopefully, there will be opening by the time I graduate, but it can't hurt to start finding out early!

I am not a dev but i thought i would point out if you scroll to the very bottom of the forums there are links such as contact us ..about us... and career most mmo websites have links like these so while you are waiting for an official responce you can probibly start there.

Also on a less specific note Linked IN is a good social site for people trying to get Computer jobs. there are various monster.com type sites and im sure your computer science teachers also have a few ideas as well. Im a programmer IRL but more on the business software end.

Note the game industry is a very unpredictable and competitive field. and any experience even less fun experience can pad your resume'.

Openings for Cryptic Studios can be found here: http://crypticstudios.com/openings :)

Good luck with school! Congrats! Having Foundry missions in your portfolio doesn't hurt ;) or other games you've made (card, digital, board, etc.).

    Cheers,

    Brandon =/\=

    Thanks.
I'll get cracking on foundry once I get a break.

    1) Do game related stuffs (Programming, Design, Art, Production, Audio, etc.)
    2) Be good at it
    3) Apply for a job with us (openings get filled and reopen pretty regularly)
    4) ???
    5) Profit
Only YOU can prevent forum fires!

I had an interesting experience at that stage last year. I hope the automated recruiting message has had all its addresses updated since then. Good luck, OP.
I'll sell you some weapons from New Romulus. Never fired, only dropped once.

I'd apply except for two things don't really feel like the area is good for my kids to be in school at plus I don't think anyone one really wants to be working next to a military vet with PTSD.

I thought there was another step in there? Something about bribing tacofangs?
