Since Cryptic stingily made all the existing Borg Deflector/ Shields/ Engines only Mk XI instead of Mk XII like they should have, I have to grind the insane amount of Mks necessary for each of the Mk XII pieces.
Seeing how they also put an hour cool down on my prefered STF this represents a LOT of time playing SWTOR.
In fact, I think the current state of STO is the main thing keeping TOR afloat.
My question is, while I slog through this overly repetitive scheme, can I use my unfairly leveled Mk XI equipment with the new Mk XII stuff and get the same bonuses or will it hamstring me unless I have all the same Mk equipped?
I have a good idea what the answer might be considering past performance, but was wondering if anyone had tried this?

Uh, I don't see your logic. Star Wars fans aren't going to switch games just because one sucks more. They stay because they're Star Wars fans, or maybe like WoW/EQ-derivative design more than STO's.
I like and play both games, and am both a Star Wars and Star Trek fan (Trek more than Wars though). If I had to choose I'd probably pick STO because TOR's F2P business model is, frankly, evil (or more evil than STO's). But TOR's content is worlds better. So I play both.

Also, RP-trolling Star Wars fans is WAY easier.
My point is that as a competitor Cryptic should want to keep people engaged in THEIR game rather than drive them to play a competitor's game due to stupid unnecessary cool downs and unreasonable pricing.
I also like both games, but when STO is engaging then TOR misses out.
With their current lack of understanding however, I find myself playing more TOR as it doesn't have any of these unnecessary road bumps to fun.
While different MKs don't activate the set, I do wish the STF sets could be interchangable.
Like the ability to unlock the Modulator while having the Adapted Gun with the 2 STF set pieces. Or vice versa with the MACO / HG Gun with the 2 Piece Adapted Set.
