Can we possibly get a buff to the Dreadnought-cruiser (Galaxy X)? The thing has been a "novelty item" for wayyy to long now. All other cruisers in its tier have 10 consoles, while the Dreadnought is stuck with 9. Any chance we can get a 10th console slot? or at least a lieuteant-commander tactical boff slot? anything?
Or at least a fleet version?
I'd really like to see the Dreadnought become a viable ship again; it was once the best cruiser in the game, I hope someday it can be again.
Considering the poor shape the current variant is in, making a Fleet Version would be a mondo kick in the teeth to those who bought the Galaxy-X and aren't currently in a fleet. On top of that, it would most likely be a Tier IV or V Fleet ship.
I'd rather see the G-X get a straight-up buff. A LtCmdr Tac Boff and a 4th Tac Console slot or a 3rd Sci Console slot would do the trick.
All Dreadnoughts from both factions could use a second shield slot or at least a further boost to shields. Wouldn't make them the best ship out there still but it'd make them more like a dreadnought.
At the moment they have about 50% the shield strength of most ships, as the turn rate is that low.
If you make it a boost across the board nobody can cry fowl there.

The only way the ships Boff layout would change would be as a fleet ship, really what it needs is the boff/console layout from the excelsior, I can imagine that lance would be frightening with APO+APA running on it

The solution is to join a fleet. Don't like fleets? Tough, do it anyway. Or at least accept that you won't get the top-tier ships and gear.

Many fleets have more ship provisions than they do members, temporarily joining a fleet to exchange a agreed upon donation to projects(Dilithium or otherwise) for access to fleet stores/ships isn't uncommon

Exactly. Frankly though, why make it temporary? Even if you're only putting in the odd commodity or common BOFF or Fleet Mark... there's absolutely no downside to being in a fleet.

I won't claim to understand that one although any temporary transfers to my fleet have been because they were a member of another but just could not wait to get their fleet (insert ship here)

That's not the point. The Galaxy-X is a VA, T5 C-store ship that costs more than any other single C-store ship, thus should be at least on par with other C-store ships. Currently, it's not even close. The only other C-store ship that's nearly as bad or worse is the Exploration Cruiser Retrofit.
The dreadnought is more than capable, the spinal lance itself does massive damage, I can do around 80k damage. Also, it's is intergrated into the system which "acts" as a tenth console. Combined with it's cloak it gives you massive first strike capability. Buff, decloak, graviton, hit the win button and watch your enemy explode.
Its doesn't need a Battle Cloak, though it certainly needs some love considering its the first and worst C-store ship/ special contest style the game ever had and it has fallen behind the newer C-store/special promo/lockbox style ships.
Unfortunately if they fix it, then they must fix all C-store ships, both KDF and fed as well, to be competitive for the money being spent on them.
it is the ONLY ship that is legitimately from this timeframe so it shouldn't be hampered by old technology.
I was under the impression that STO's timeline was the prime timeline since we lost Spock, Nero and Romulus due to the whole supernove debacle but kept Vulcan while the JJtrek timeline has Spock, still has Romulus, killed Nero and lost Vulcan.
So how is this ship from STO's universe all of a sudden when it wasn't considered to be when it was released as the promo offer/ purchase back in around first season?

I agree that it doesn't need a Battle Cloak, but I don't think that all C-Store ships need to be fixed. The Galaxy-R, a few of the Sci-Ships, and maybe the T5 B'rel, but I think everything else is reasonable.

But yeah, the Galaxy-X deserves some serious TLC.
Actually, Niether do I but if the OP wishes the AGTGalX to be fixed to reflect the value spent on it, I would like them to do the same for any C-store ship that has to be purchased to reflect the monetary value they represent.
Seems, only fair as other players have thier favorite ships as well that they would like to see made beefier, so to speak.
the galaxy X will never be good. it doesn't mater what they do to it, they could give it a fleet vorcha's station setup, a 4th tactical consoles, it wont mater, it will still suck. a tactical cruiser that cant turn will never be good. it needs like 4 more turn rate to be any good. give up on it, unless cryptic does an across the board buff to fed cruiser turn rate, which they really should do, this will NEVER be a good ship.

Yeah but there is a difference between good and usable. Doesn't need to be the best, just better or more balanced than it is.
Some alternatives, either or.
1, Give all dreads a second shield slot , then it'll be plenty usable. As I said above it's lacking about 50% of the shield strength of most ships due to turn rate.
2, Give dreadnoughts a better or more reactive version of tact team, this will help with point 1.
3, Give them some nasty mounted rear weapons, this will help with turn rate.
Of all 2 is probably least intrusive, but 1 makes the most sense. Other than just giving them a flat bonus to shields, so +50% shields, which would about even their shields out with other ships that can use more sides. True they'd still be disadvantaged in the firepower department, getting their guns on a target, but it's a start in getting them more balanced.
No need to make them nimble, just make them able to take more of a pounding, as it should be. I would suggest some way to repel cannon attacks but that might be treading on too many toes , especially as I gave in and started using them now myself hehe.
As a side note, if we ever get harder stf's and we do eventually need a tank, that tank needs to be able to tank as well.

Our fleet has just finished T4 Shipyard, now we're on the Starbase in it's own right, it's costing us nearly 2 MILLION Dilithium and about 14,000 Fleet Credits if i remember correctly.
Don't want to be social in an MMO? Go play something else then. If you're fought you're way though a disgusting Cryptic number game, you deserve the rewards.
The Gal X is getting old. You can't expect it to do all the tricks. Most players that flaunt one shouldn't even own one by all rights! Seeing as it was originally a recruitment reward. So be lucky you own one at all.
I personally am happy with it the way it is. In PVP it's VERY popular with the opposing team. You see one of those whales de-cloak and you know you're in for an easy win...
As a side note, if we ever get harder stf's and we do eventually need a tank, that tank needs to be able to tank as well.
Consider the stock Fleet Gal which doesen't do anything EXCEPT tank, or a Star Cruiser etc. Hell, even the Oddy has its moments. Not sure why anyone would take a tank into an STF, surely you're there to either kill things or heal people?

You have a point about the G-X originally being a friend referral reward but the fact remains Cryptic put it in the store, charged $25 and was a competative ship, no matter whether you were a Tac, an Engineer or Sci if you outfitted and flew it right. Once Lockboxes, Universal Consoles and a sweeping change to item stats came around, the Galaxy has become a relic over the last 4 seasons.
I'm in fleet so my arguement for the overall buff to the G-X has nothing to do with personal bias but considering the Excelsior-R, which came out shortly after the G-X is still a very competative ship even today and there is a Fleet version on top of that. I do think there should be a Fleet version, i.e. T6 ship, the standard G-X still needs to be brought up to current T5's.
Yes, a Tactical captain can buff their Lance to a potential 80k blast. I've decloaked and gotten instagibs before with my Engie but the opponent was either AFK or just oblivious but that's far and few between. Otherwise, the conditions are hard to reproduce to make the Lance reliable. I can get an 80k HYT Tricobalt Torpedo Crit but that doesn't mean I can do it on command.
And the arguement about working hard and being social is moot when anyone with a few extra million EC's to burn can join a top-tier fleet and aquire the Fleet Variant without spending a dime or putting in the time or resources.

Well... yeah. But I think most of the other ships are just fine. The ones that need to be fixed do, and the ones that don't, don't. :P

I think a tenth console (either Engineer or Science) and a turn rate of 7 to compliment the spinal lance a little is certainly called for.
Side note, this prolly belongs in the Federation Shipyards I assume it will get moved there shortly.

So if that's true, I wouldn't be surprised if the Galaxy-X got an upgrade to the new standards.
The Dreaddy needs an upgrade. I have been posting about this for months now.
