Having recently discovered that the Fleet Assault Cruiser has been reinstated and available for sale, I decided to save up EC to buy the required Fleet Modules (I've already got the required Fleet Marks and the other prereqs). However, on the Exchange said Modules cost millions of EC, and I have yet to reach even the 1 million mark.
Looking on the forums for answers to my (digital) financial woes, I heard about the Tour the Galaxy event and how you could get tons of EC from it. So, a few hours ago, I talked to Yim at Club 47 and went off to jaunt around the stars.
At first, I tried to take the route advised by STOWiki:
For earning as much Energy Credits as possible, it is advised not to tour the entire galaxy, but only visit the Klingon, Deferi, Borg and Undine sector blocks and then transwarp back to earth. This can earn a total of 1,400,000 Energy Credits each tour (assuming that you finish this route each 7 minutes)
However, the quest did not seem to complete until I had explored
all/ the system sectors. So I did.
Nevertheless, completing the tourtook me most of an hour (as opposed to the 12 minutes the wiki says the fastest route will take), meaning I could not repeat it and get the millions I was hoping for. So, any hints, tips, or advice for completing this test quickly and/or other ways of quickly getting EC (without spending Zen, Dil, or EC, that is)?

The Excelsior's special Transwarp drive also makes it a lot quicker.
If you're just flying around at Warp 10, though, you're not going to be completing it very quickly.
First, you will need to complete the Klingon campaign, or at least get to Doomsday Device mission. You use the Transwarp button in the Episodes tab to use shortcuts, which takes out useless travel time as well as some loading (at least not having to load Sol Space map once, which is a big help).
Second, you don't need to complete the whole mission (ie, visit every sector) to get the rewards. You get them whenever you complete a faction's controlled space (ie, all Fed space, all Klingon space, etc). When you have the rewards you want, and want to start over, just drop the mission, go back to ESD and restart by talking to the dude.
Third, you can get a lot more than what the wiki says, but it mostly depends on your load times.
Fourth, you'll want some good Astrometric Scientist doffs. They cut the recharge time of your transwarp; doing the episode transwarp doesn't have any cooldown, but the transwarp to ESD does, and if you're doing it right, you'll finish a lap well before 15 minutes is up.
Fifth, make sure the Stop During Dialog setting is turned OFF. That way you don't stop at sector block borders
Actually, the only thing I didn't say in the wiki at the time was using Mission Transwarps (which I purposely neglected). But everything else still stands, especially the race route.
Astrometrics, all you need is a green one. Because if you are doing 6 laps, you just need it to be under a 8 minute recharge.
One more thing, given the Vesta is out, she would be the ideal racing ship due to the longer slipstream and the ability to turn while at slipstream.
Borg engines, Raiding Party and Diplomatic Immunity (normally from people around Wolf 359), Purple Astrometrics Doff
After getting the Tour from the chap in the club
Leave Sol space and head for beta Urse
As soon as you transfer to Beta do a quick instance swap and you will be at the far end
From there head up to Orellis and complete there and hang a right into Eta Erandi space
go through EE as quick as you can and head to Omega Leonis and through the Klingon Gate to Borg space
When in Borg space head for the very centre point, by going through the very centre it hits all 4 sections and head straight for Fluidic space
When there you can head back to Sol via transwarp (should be on a 4-5minute timer with a purple astrometrics) - if not just before the tour get the stranded in spae assignment - it takes you just outside of sol for 100ec and reverse to sol
End the tour mission and get it again - repeat every 5 or so minutes for 200k per run
