Leachers

qrobqrob Member Posts: 1 Arc User
When is something going to be done about leachers? They brag about being turned in many, many times and nothing happens. They name their ships Leacher and STO doesnt care. You have in your agree ment that players are not allowed to negatively affect others play experiance but when only 5 people can enter an instance and 2 just sit there doing nothing it most definately affects game play. I have no problem with Free to play people but being free some dont care. I have payed to play this game since launch and now no one cares about those of us who do pay to play. Something needs to be done before its too late.

Only thing that can be done so you don't encounter leachers is don't use the Public Queue. Not all leachers are leachers. RL aggro gets in the way so they have to leave for a period of time. So unless they brag about their leaching, then they could claim that they had to take care of their kid or some other excuse.

Why cry about something PWE won't fix. It's money and if these people by into the level and maybe even the ships what do they care. I fortunately was with only "leacher' in my time in STFs. I reported him, but the rest of the team did get the satisfaction of me insulting him/her the whole time. We did complete the STF even without the putz. But PWE doesn't care so why bother. It sucks you had two turds in your STF though.

First off, don't you mean leecher, not leacher?

And yes, this is the negative point of F2P, where people can troll in making accounts at will and return once an account is banned. All while their real account is high and dry. This is why people are tired of public queues and rather get groups from certified group channels.

Be nice if Cryptic return to the Pre F2P system, or implemented a kick system (even at risk of abuse).

Not to mention many game companies won't ban or even take action for leeching. It's an TRIBBLE move, to be sure, but in a public queue, players are randomly assigned to an STF. They have an equal right to be there, even if they exercise that right by doing nothing.

Sucks, but it is what it is.

This topic has been brought up many, many times. Even ignoring someone will not prevent you from being teamed with them in the public ques. Best bet is try to do private runs so you know everyone is there to help out.

I will never be in favour of a vote kick function, anyone who ever played a game with one in it will know what that's not a good idea.

Least of all over a few afk'ers that don't really impact gameplay. It's not like stf's are falling apart left and right. Even in the OP's scenario they beat the mission.

I agree if it's to a point you don't want to deal with it play in privates or team up with your fleet.

We had it in WoW and I saw it abused maybe once in all my years on that game. It was used far more for the right reasons than the wrong. The vote had to be unanimous.

I think it's open to abuse because in this game, we get alot of DPS diehards, who are often not to happy to see people like me and my fleet turn up in our science ships and cruisers, And then we would get booted, probably recieving a ban.

All because some TRIBBLE who's so far up themselves, doesn't like us because we use phasers and not DHC's.

In my personal opinon, for ESTF's there needs to be a flat reward of like 100dil and 15 OM, and you recieve more via Healing, and DPS (Like in Pvp, you have two seperate scores)

I've yet to see this as a big problem in the public queues. Not to say that it doesn't happen but, I don't believe that it's as big of an issue as some say.

The thing I've seen is people getting testy about not using the proper stf strategy in the normal difficulty instances. I play the normal difficulty instances specifically so I don't have worry about using the stf strategy with a pug. Rarely, is getting the optional an issue and I don't recall how long it's been since not successfully completing an stf.
If people want to do it by the numbers than they should stick to grouping with people they know.

Anyway, leechers suck, but I think the problem is often times exaggerated.

I have not seen it being a big problem in STF - mostly due to the fact that people want to get the optional for the bonus marks and everyone knows that getting the optional on a pug with just 4 people is almost impossible - definitely impossible on anything but ISE.

So I don't know where the primary leeching is going on.

But other than that people just put up with it so why should Cryptic do anything?

If people quit mission in mass when there are leechers and the Q's became full of just leechers and went nowhere - then maybe something would be done.

I agree. In general, we as humans are better at remembering negatives than positives.

I've yet to bump into a total leech. I have seen people afk for a few minutes, but not yet have I seen anyone gone the whole match.

and I do almost exclusively public pugs because I don't know any private channels except my fleet and we only run group events on Fridays =)

ive seen several. they pop into an stf just like everyone else so they had to have clicked on the "engage" button or w/e it is, then they just sit there... don't contribute, don't move, yet they some how magically are able to roll need on every drop.

Best thing to do is ignore them. They are either AFK or purposefully trying to grief you. Do not give them the satisfaction of responding.

They could implement a party window like many other games or even remotely close to private where it shows all the names of the people you are being grouped with while it begins the match countdown, this way if you see names of people who are most often leeching alot you can simply leave the que before launch and try another.
