S7's New Set Graphics: Screenshots

Okay, so someone suggested I can go to tribble and see the new set's looks. So I did.

Obviously, disclaimer about these coming from the test server, may not be final, blahblahblah.

I'll get the bad out of the way first, so you can look at the good to make up for it.

The Romulan Prototype Set:

http://s2.postimage.org/60k03bcqh/Romulan_Shield_Intrepid.jpg On a standard Intrepid class.

http://s13.postimage.org/eze2hvsyf/Romulan_Shield_FRSV.jpg On a customised Fleet RSV.

W...t...f... looks like my RSV has mold. The Fleet material makes it look bit hideous. The green sections look very randomly placed. I hope that's not the final appearance on Holodeck. Note the lack of engine trail change. No deflector effect either (NB: I turned off shadows for this ss, since I was getting bad striping while in motion) Looks better on the Intrepid, but still kinda ugly (imo). Would be nice if the whole ship went Romulan green instead. Might look nicer on dark coloured KDF ships? I don't have any of the Nausicaan ships or the Kar'Fi to really test it though. I have put it on a basic Klingon ship, you barely even notice the difference if using the base green material.

Adapted MACO and KHG space sets do not have any difference in appearance - Adapted MACO looks like MACO, Adapted KHG looks like KHG. This is fine.

Now for the good!

The Adapted MACO and KHG Ground Sets!

Disclaimer: These were taken by turning on the armour graphics, actual costume tailoring would produce different looks.

http://s13.postimage.org/8zqbe885z/Adapted_Maco1.jpg MACO Armour and gun.

http://s13.postimage.org/55wv52qtz/Adapted_Maco2.jpg Close up of the gun.

http://s13.postimage.org/io3rhd2zb/Adapted_KHG1.jpg KHG Armour (Cloak looks a bit brown, it's actually black and a dark red by default)

http://s13.postimage.org/myifcy82f/Adapted_KHG2.jpg Close up of the gun. That thing looks badass.

http://s13.postimage.org/ok2aii7o7/Adapted_Sets.jpg Both sets side by side, since someone was nice enough to indulge me for a screenshot.

So there you go! Hopefully this gives everyone climbing the rep track something to look forward to. And if that is the final Romulan graphic, hopefully the warning saves you disappointment, or if it isn't, may you be pleasantly surprised!

Hmm... better than I thought they'd be - not crazy about the MACO Pulsewave though (looks like a nasty kitbash of the old Phaser Battle rifle).

I'd probably use the shoulder pads and the chest piece on my Fed (and the Pulsewave) but ignore the rest - it all looks a little clumsy.

I think the KHG set looks better (although the sniper rifle looks silly with a bayonet at the end of it) - boots and the bracers are good though - my Joined Trill will be very pleased (she can never have enough boots :))

Oh, and the Romulan set - WTF?

    A

It looks a lot better on a Jem'hadar. Your ship might not be the best ship to show it off. I'll post a pic when I get home if I remember.

I went back and grabbed my LRSV out of mothballs and reset it to standard Intrepid design to test this - yes, the FRSV wasn't the best choice. Might be some bad interaction with the Fleet material or the hull pieces.

-edit- after a little further testing, yes, it is the Fleet material that's giving it that ugly mold green appearance. The placing of the green sections is very patchy and haphazard on the RSV in general though.

Just like the Reman set makes your ship metallic, the Romulan one should also cover the hull 100% with the typical Romulan hull texture. It looks really...odd...

But what does it look like on Klingon ships, I wonder... :D

No - since the Omega set was already cross-faction, there's no 'Adapted' Omega gear.

Tried in on a Vor'cha with Veteran Skin.
    It was barely nitceable.
On a grey K't'inga it looked kinda okay, but given the model is still f***ed up we'll have to wait until they switch the high- and lowres models back to see it in full detail.

So after my long grind every day since launch of season 7 and anticipation of the super-secret Romulan set I was so hoping to be impressed by what this set was going to be like. While its perfromace is mediocre compared to other sets such as the adapted MACO XII, OMEGA XII or Assimilated XII sets I was prepared to deal with it as I do with my Reman set because of how it is so visualy stunning with it's green irredescense. Same with the Jem' Hadar set I use all Polaron weapons and love the visual my ship has with it's all purple effects. When you see it in battle and how it enhances the plasma I want to use it. My love for the Romulans and this build gave me nothing but a let down when all you get is a small transparent overlay with only the shields. Please, reconsider your design and give each of the pieces an enhancement to ships. Make them far more drastic. Give us the feeling that enriches the ships to give us the feeling that we have modified our ships to a Romulan Mogai, D'deridex or dare I say Scimitar. Check into this!

Yes the visuals are bad but the set bonus is the same as the Reman set and that is the killer part to me.

Just get the Reman set as the Romulan set is a major fail and sad as that was the only new set for season 7.

Go team for nothing new again.

just another disappointment along the road...i got really used to it. Some other stuff is great about season 7...not all is bad. The game still has some potential, would hate to see it go to waste completely.
    Go pro or go home

Heh. I just got my Adapted MACO (on Live) last night, and I think it's my favorite of all the Fed armors (KDF sets all look way better, of course). I even like that the set pieces in the tailor are referred to as "Striker". But hey, just my opinion.
