Idea for a Shuttle Mission

I would love to see more shuttle missions in STO, and I've always wanted to see your shuttles interacting with a ship that is to scale.

So an enemy faction (Borg, Dominion, Tholians, Iconians or whoever) has released a new dreadnought that is tearing your ships to pieces. Starfleet/High council want you to take a team of shuttles and sneak up on the ship. The idea is your ships are small enough to try to avoid their weapons (see DS9 shattered Mirror, S4) and do enough damage to cripple their defences for your fleet to warp in and finish the job.

So a team of 5 - 20 people enter a space map. The whole map is one big ship and is to scale compared to your shuttles. So you are very, very tiny. (As a comparison imagine the size difference between your ship and the borg Command ship from the red alerts, but 4 or 5 times the size). Your task to to strafe around the ship blowing up their shield generators, weapons arrays, torpedoes turrets etc.

Once you have done enough damage. The mission then switches you back to your normal ship via a loading screen, where you then fight the ship normally (and now to scale compared to your normal ships) and finish the task.

It would be a fairly quick 10-15 minute mission that uses your shuttles and your main ships (now they have the tech) but I think it would be pretty awesome to fly around a ship that is stupidly huge compared to yours.

That's why I wish everything was to scale. :(

In a way this sort of reminds me of the Defiant vs the super-sized Negh'var and the Dominon Dreadnaught in DS9. I like! :D

Maybe go further and do like my tank idea, of the NPC not just being a huge ship, but it has weakpoints you need to attack in order to defeat it. So you have to use tactics such as distraction, so your teammates can get a clear shot (because you can only attack at certain angles).

I actually think that "Hive Onslaught" should be a shuttle mission. When you fight the Unimatrix, you should fight the actual Unimatrix, by blowing it up from the inside. :D

I made one to scale, if you imagine a Borg cube the size of ESD. It's pretty silly that players can fly a Defiant throught, because the defiant is just barely bigger than a TOS shuttle.

Sounds good, also we are still waiting for that atmosphere shuttle mission, where you fly along a ground/mountains or something.

i'm more in favor of "board them and cut them to bits" kinda deal. instead of switching to your primary ship, you beam aboard the super dreadnought, take it over, and are given the choice to scuttle the ship or take her a prize.
    Rejoice JJ Trek people....

    Why are you not rejoicing?

That would make a nice Klingon Daily, but it would feel really out of character for a Fed. :P

Maybe make it like a stf and have optionals:
Beat the optional and the the ship as a prize
lose the optional means you blow the ship up and escape
