Don't know about the rest of you all, but as most players are starting to reach Tier 4 & 5 of the reputation system, I am beginning to worry about the very low hull points on most of the BOP's.
These ships were already a huge problem before Borg Tractor + cutting beam combos, and the Hyper-plasma torpedoes.
The bleed through of this direct dmg to hulls is out of proportion to what the hull can realistically soak-up. It takes a shorter time to obliterate the Hoh'Sus than it has time to cloak.
I don't even fly the Hoh'sus anymore. Even with full MKXII Purple Neu. Armour, or any other for that matter, this ship folds like a paper plane in a hail storm.
Before the reputation system, it stood a small chance of being viable. Not so much anymore.
Just wait till the romulan plasma disruptors and embassy consoles are more widespread. Even more plasma burns. soon shield be useless since everyone will simply ignore them and directly burn your hull.

I'm okay with the BOP where it is at for hull strength. I'm not okay with consoles or weapons.
But personally, and this is just me, you could have one or the other. Both of them together, that's just bad.
Agreed on that. At this point, the only real strength the BoP has is the battlecloak. The universal boffslots have been whored out to various Federation/cross-faction ships to where it's not that awesome of an exclusive, and the ship class is deficient in all other respects except turning rate. It doesn't even have speed really working in its favor, because both the KHAS and the Steamrunner physically move faster on average (higher impulse modifier), and it moves the same speed as the escorts can.
Now, if they were to give the BoP 5 tac consoles and make the battlecloak more effective and useful (harder to break through, for example, and a bigger decloak buff), maybe I can agree with keeping the stats the way they are.
I've been noticing that the plasma proc annihilates the hull, unless it's a weak one. I've also been noticing that some players have really stocked up on skills, abilities, and weapons that enable 'em to shoot through the shields. I'm a BoP pilot in PvP, I don't have room for every tanking skill imaginable. Heck, I can't even carry sci team, because I carry two Tactical Teams (can't afford the doffs that would enable me to reduce that to 1 effectively).
My PvP toon is Krov, of The House of Snoo. Beware of my Hegh'ta of doom.
The Borg Tractor + Cutting Beam combo is getting a major nerf (more than 50% damage reduction) in tomorrow's patch notes.
As for the special Plasma Torps...well is it the torps themselves or the DoT that's fouling you up? If it's the DoT I wonder if that's just a symptom of disregarding plasma as a viable weapons type in PvP for so long.

No, I think they buffed the DoT at some point, because people have been noticing that the Borg plasma proc has been a lot more effective at removing hullpoints.
That buff, along with the buff to the plasma energy itself, makes plasma a viable weapon at this time. I like that, it makes things a little more interesting. Just wish there were more ways to clear the plasma fire :P

Borg DoT got buffed along with ALL plasma DoTs at the beginning of Season 6. What happened with the Borg in Season 7 seems to have been a proc-rate buff and the cutting beam getting a "ignore shields completely" tag added. I keep track in STFs, and before Season 7 I might pick up a single plasma proc every minute to minute and a half. Now it's more common for me to have two or three stacked than not have any at all.
And plasma energy has received NO buff. It still does the same base damage as any other energy type.
Battlecloak is fine as well. Speed isn't. These ships should be quite a bit more speedy out the gate.
And if you use one of the heavy bop's you can get the hull up over 40k using jevonite. Hey the option is there. 43k hull in a bop. Lulz ensue.
I'm rocking 21.4k hull about now. It discourages you from playing escort. And that is fine. Give it a speed boost. Really giving up all that hull should count for a bit more in the flat out speed category.

Yeah, wish they had given the fleet BoPs a .22 impulse mod so we can keep up with the ridiculous JHAS and now the Steamrunner. Turning rate is fine, especially with Pattern Omega to buff it, but that speed is just not enough anymore. I run 78 engine power when on my attack preset, and the JHAS can still outrun me (and in some cases out-turn me), and some Federation escorts can keep up unless I use Impulse Capacitator.
My PvP toon is Krov, of The House of Snoo. Beware of my Hegh'ta of doom.
Well, I'd then just recommend the Peghqu' Heavy Destroyer, which has a battle cloak and is more durable than that.
Also, you could simply put electroceramic armor in your three eng slots to buy you the required time.
I sure that the Peghqu' is a great ship. But, honestly I have no plans to fork out $199 dollars just for a ship, that on top of the 700+ days I've been subscribed.
I PvP whenever I get the chance, and although running three EC consoles may offer some resistance to plasma and tetryon, the gap you would open in you defenses against all of the other major weapon dmg types would nullify any defense you might gain.
I shudder to even imagine how quickly the BOP will implode against a fully buff Fl. Defiant/ MVAM/ Steamrunner/ Armitage etc (and that's just off the top of my head) equipped with Phaser, Disruptor or Antiproton.
Tbh, for my tac i stopped using BoPs when the fleet torkaht came out and later stopped using that for the Vet ship. For my Sci I stopped using the B'rel for the Vet ship.
That said, hazzard doffs have nice resist boosts. If you spec into threat gen and the eng resist skill you can have a nice baseline of resists for your hull. PH, Aux2Sif, HE all have nice hull resist boost at high aux. APD has a nice hull resist. A 20k hull @ 50%+ omni resists is the effect HP as a 40k hull @ 25% omni resists. This will leave you w/less options for shields or target debuff boff abilities.
My issue w/the Raiders wasn't so much about surviving, but having to run too quickly and not being able to stay long enough for any follow up damage/sci debuffs vs a decent team cross supporting each other. Unfortunately, while tacs have nice cruiser options that can still fit the hit and run role, sci options are far more lacking.

Doesn't Starship Threat Control only cap at 9.9 DR for maximum rank?
Probably, but it adds (w/diminishing returns) to the eng resists skill boosts and all the other stuff I mentioned. Personally I go 6 in each max w/the diminishing returns on skill point investment it's not worth it to me.

I agree with Thissler, the BOP's hull strength is just about right, except for the Fleet Norgh, it could use a little boost.
At the very least though, it will help improve our BOP piloting skills. Knowing when to attack, and when to just sit back and watch the fireworks, waiting for the perfect time to strike.
Well I can think of one way the devs could make the Bop more useful and probable a little bit better at what it is supposed to be, give it universal console slots. Each area Sci, Eng ,Tac would have 5-6 universal slots, but only a total of 9 could be active and any one time, fleet Bop could have 10 active. So how you used them would be up to you. It would also give the Bop the more universal role that it was designed to have.

Cause the title is usually the only thing that tells me if I want to read a post or not.
So what is it with the 3 dots? Why are they so bad?
Is this really necessary, honestly?
